Kirk is a client from Belmore Lifestyle Centre who requested a special program that focused on learning how to fish. The staff at Belmore jumped into action to make our clients dream was made a reality. After hearing about the new fishing program, five other clients were excited to join in and learn how to cast a line. This program will now become a regular activity for clients. The staff and clients started their new adventure this week, stopping by the shops to stock up with all the fishing equipment. They then headed to the Lambeth Reserve located on the beautiful Georges River at Picnic Point, where their fishing training started. They spent a wonderful afternoon netting a few small catches, which they returned to the water. After fishing they enjoyed some exercise at the park and finished off the day with lunch together. It was perfect weather and the clients had a great day of fun and fishing. The program will continue each week and the clients are eager to snag a bigger catch next time. Well done to our staff at Belmore Lifestyle Centre. At Afford we make it happen and meet our client’s needs.

Kings Park staff had a buzz at Rooty Hill RSL At Afford, our staff are the backbone of the organisation and we always want them to know that their efforts are appreciated. Team Leaders at Kings Park Lifestyle Centre recently took staff out for a Buzz Night at Rooty Hill RSL as a thank you for all their hard work and dedication to their roles. Sumptuous meals and gelato champagne ensured a great night for all and Team Leaders were focussed on making it a special night for every staff member. After dinner, the garden bar area was fun and frivolity as the team danced the night away, with Kay (aka the ‘Vodka Assassin’) in charge of refreshing drinks. All staff enjoyed the evening and are still talking about the great night out!

On Tuesday, Oran Park clients had a visit to the fantastic Gymnastics centre at Rooty Hill to participate in some fun filled exercises. The clients enjoyed learning new gymnastics techniques on the trampoline, bars, skipping ropes and balance beams. In addition to having fun, clients were building balance and strength as they were trained by a professional gymnast. Clients enjoyed their time at gymnastics and look forward to it every week.

Get Into Gear - Driver Training As an Employer of Choice, Afford offers ongoing free training initiatives to build on and enhance our Employees skills. One successful training initiative offered over the last 2 years is the driver training classes, which have provided driver awareness and valuable lifesaving skills while on the road. Due to the overwhelming success of the program we have decided to offer it again this year. We have secured 3 dates throughout the year where we will be running driver training from Head Office. The dates are: Wednesday, 19 April Wednesday, 19 July Wednesday, 18 October The class size is maximum 15, and we will be utilising 4 vans for the 1 - 1 driver assessment portion of the training. On her return from annual leave, 22 March, Maureen will be sending out an email to get names for the first class. Please can you all put these dates into your calendars as a reminder as to when the driver training will be happening throughout the year.
