Health and fitness is one of our great initiatives at Afford and has been embraced by our Chipping Norton Lifestyle Centre who has introduced a new hydrotherapy program for the clients. Every Wednesday the clients visit Ripples at St Marys to participate in hydrotherapy classes. This program is particularly valuable for two of our wheel chair clients, who have the chance to be out of their chairs and enjoy the gentleness of floating in water. They also have a qualified instructor with them who gives them gentle exercise to keep their muscles loose and increase their fitness and movement. Three other clients that participate in this program also enjoy having time to swim about and have fun in the water.
All Calm At The Farm Canley Vale Lifestyle Centre clients Joel BK, Joel BT, Peter, Meridith and Toan were able to get up and close with the animals at Calmsley Hill City Farm last week. It was a wonderful opportunity for our clients to interact with animals and experience a farm setting. There was so much excitement as everyone had the opportunity to feed the animals and everyone loved being able to touch and feel them. The horses were a big hit with Peter and Joel BT, while Joel BK loved watching the birds.

Youth Grant A Great Experiment
Affords Community Access Group South Western Sydney received a grant for youth community access to improve their travelling and independent life skills. Every Tuesday and Friday until the end of May 2017, the group will participate and travel to community events to build on these skills. On Friday, a group from Oran Park and Lurnea Lifestyle Centres visited the Science Museum and they experienced a lovely live bubble show and experimented with a variety of science experiences.
A Kiss To Build A Dream On! A big congratulations to Anthony Dengate and Sarah Ann Franklin who tied the knot on 10th of March 2017. The couple are Afford supported employees who met at the Ingleburn Afford ADE. The couple said it was love at first sight when they met 30 winters ago. They knew it would last forever when they got engaged on the 6th of January last year. They believe the key to a successful marriage will be to, “have faith in each other. No fighting. In the mornings Anthony makes a cup of tea for Sarah. In the afternoons; when they get back from work Sarah makes a cup of tea for Tony! The couple are planning a honeymoon to America very soon.
