BLACK VOTES MATTER
HERMAN CAIN DIES

HOUSTON -- Racism is not “child’s play,” and President Donald Trump -- no matter how juvenile he acts -- is nothing to play with, nor is this election. But before we let you go about the business of your day (some blind to what is happening right before your eyes) we
must take you through a walk in time to show you how ignorance of the past dooms you to ALLOW others to SNEAK a REPEAT on you. Indulge us for a moment -- and educate yourself -- then run for your lives to the polls this November and do the right thing.
-----------------------------------“This is a country for white men, and by God, as long as I am President, it shall be a government for white men,” Andrew Johnson said after becoming the 17th president following Abraham Lincoln’s assassination.
Even though Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation, freeing all slaves in Confederate states on Jan. 1, 1863, and even though Congress ratified the 13th Amendment abolishing slavery, nothing really changed in the South. The Black Code cont’d on page 4
WASHINGTON Herman Cain, former Republican presidential candidate and co-chair of ‘Black Voices for Trump,’ has died at age 74 due to complications from COVID-19. Cain’s death is a grim reminder that African Americans, regardless of social or financial status, are dying at a disproportionately higher rate than other races. Cain’s official Twitter account released news Thursday morning of the former Godfather’s Pizza CEO’s death. “You’re never ready for the kind of news we are grappling with this morning. But we have no choice but to seek and find God’s strength and comfort to deal,” the tweet said. Cain attended President Donald Trump’s June 20 rally in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He, like many others in
the crowd, was not wearing a mask, nor practicing social distancing. He was hospitalized in early July, but his team did not confirm how or where he was exposed. At least eight Trump advance team staffers who were also in attendance tested positive for coronavirus afterward. In May 2011, Cain announced his 2012 presidential candidacy. By the fall, his proposed 9–9–9 tax plan and debating performances had made him a serious contender for the Republican nomination. In November, however, his campaign faced allegations of sexual misconduct — all denied by Cain — and he announced its suspension on December 3. He is survived by his wife, Gloria, and their two children, Melanie and Vincent, and grandchildren.
