In keeping current with the African-American religious and cultural tradition passed down for generations, Commissioner Rodney Ellis with Harris County Precinct One recently held its Annual Spring Tea. The event took

place at Precinct One’s Hardy Senior Center accommodating over 300 senior citizens who dined and sipped tea in their best Sunday hats. The Spring Tea was a collective effort which involved seniors from Hardy, Cavalcade, Finnigan Park and Lincoln Park. Other distinguished guests gathered to join in on the festivities included: Licia Green Ellis;
State Senator Sylvia Garcia and Reps. Senfronia Thompson and Carol Alvarado. Furthermore, the event held a contest for the best hats and teacups. The winners of the hat contest were Diane Stephens, Gloria Bass, Geri Demby, Thomasita Rivera and Earleen Green. Teacup winners were Rose Mitchell, Amalia Sanchez, Joyce Murray, Lana Reece and Ellen
