WHAT’S NEW ON THE GROUND? •
New game count method that’s more involving for volunteers
and beneficial to researchers!
•
Volunteers assisted in tracking and watching over a cheetah while being darted and collared.
•
Volunteers were delighted to be able to assist the cheetah researchers and this collar will help contribute to research on the cheetah population that is under threat.
•
Volunteers were successful in tracking a known leopard called Osirata, and were able to confirm that her cub was still alive and healthy.
•
This is important news as the leopard population is small and the cub still needs time to develop before it can fend for itself.
•
Volunteers were incredibly happy to spot not only a leopard and a cub, but also a leopard with a kill!

•
As we are in rainy season, which means many of the roads within the conservancy have been damaged by erosion.
•
Volunteers loved the opportunity to be out in the conservancy on foot and help the rangers to collect stones, transport them to the damaged areas and help repair the roads.
•
This is hugely important to help preserve the quality of the conservancy and ensure tourists continue to come and support its development.
•
Volunteers had a great time working with the afterschool conservation club. We engage the children in a variety of games and interactive learning activities.
•
Volunteer have ensured that these activities have drawn regular attendance and we are now ready to start a structured 12-week conservation education curriculum.
“Playing volleyball with the students from the guide school was lots of fun and a great opportunity to get to know the students.”
“This was an unforgettable experience. Living here for two weeks and interacting with a new culture definitely gives you a different outlook on life. You are taken away from your mobile phone and from the internet and driven closer to nature. I have learnt to somewhat overcome my fear of bugs, to take interest in birds and trees and to appreciate silence. “
