WHAT’S NEW ON THE GROUND? •
New Business Manager, Valerie Bruce, started on 28th January
•
Introduction of grammar lessons at our Reading Club
•
New Crèche program introduced
•
75% improvement in 4 and 5 yr. old’s in language and number recognitions skills at pre-school.
•
Provided 3 crèches with new chalk-boards so that teaching could continue without the reliance on paper.
•
One crèche teacher has designed own teaching plan based on the work we have done with the children. This means our work will continue.
•
Delivered home assistance to 13 house-bound patients. We helped with cleaning, washing and ensuring fresh clean water is available.
•
Ensured that 21 patients were able to attend clinic and specialist’s appointments by providing much needed transport.
•
Helped 6 patients with physiotherapy treatments and exercises. These patients have had accidents or strokes and are in desperate need for assistance to regain strength and mobility.
•
3 Support Group community gardens were cleared of weeds, new beds dug and seedlings planted, providing access to nutritious vegetables for the community.
•
Provided support for 3 community support groups attended by families living with HIV/Aids.
•
Worked with a local orphanage providing the children with the opportunity to take part in sports, crafts, singing and dancing.
•
An average of 87 children per week attended Reading Club and we provided them with some new waterproof ponchos.
