WHAT’S NEW ON THE GROUND? • • • •

We celebrated Ramadan and Eid with the local Muslim community! Our team hosted 34 study abroad volunteers from James Madison Uni! The community school we are building now has chairs and desks! We welcomed Sarah Dymecki, a highly talented NGO intern from Boston, USA!

46 local students graduated from our Conservation Club, which teaches young people to respect and love their marine ecosystems!

We initiated a new round of Ethical Dolphin Tour Driver Workshops, with 4 boat drivers completing 3 out of 5 modules, and demonstrating exceptional dedication to protecting their eco-system and resident dolphins.

A new coral reef has been added to our Coral Reef Bleaching Monitoring sessions, which has never been researched before, so we have sole data capture responsibility!


We enjoyed another quarter of unprecedented popularity in our Adult English program, teaching a total of 188 students from the local village across 3 months. This drastically improves their employability in the tourism industry.

A Conservation and Geographic curriculum was introduced over Ramadan, which was successfully designed, delivered and positively received by all!

A beautiful graduation ceremony was held in June to celebrate the many successes of our students in their final exams. A big thank you to every volunteer involved!

The second round of our Road Safety Nursery Program was conducted. This initiative aims to reduce road accidents, which are unfortunately quite frequent in the village.

We introduced a new curriculum for members of the Maasai community, which is designed to provide optimum educational opportunities to our foundation level students and help them progress to our higher classes.

Our guest study abroad volunteers worked tirelessly alongside local community members to lay an entirely new agriculture plot for the whole community, expanding the space available for vegetable, fruit and flower growth!

Working with one of the local nursery Schools, Sirajital, we have redesigned and redecorated their senior’s class educational space. This will undoubtedly Improve their learning environment!

A combination of volunteers, community partners and local children got together to helped to scour Jambiani beach from its northern section to southern tip, collecting over 400kg of waste, rubbish and recyclable junk! Go team!


This quarter has witnessed incredible and inspirational fundraising efforts and impact from our staff, volunteers, partners and ex-volunteer community. With help from our charity partner, The Happy Africa Foundation, we have raised $1,400 through an online campaign. On top of that, our Education Coordinator raised over $8,000 for a community school we are building, resulting in: • •
