Volunteers assisted 10 families on a weekly basis through our home assistance program. Support included cleaning around the house, sweeping and mopping, picking up trash outside, preparing and cooking food for the week, and fetching water for the family members (who would otherwise have to walk a long way to collect buckets of water)

Our volunteers worked alongside the Building Coordinator to refurbish a leaking roof and cemented outside stairs for an elderly couple. Our volunteers ensured these families had sanitary living conditions and clean water for the week…surely a HUGE impact

Volunteers worked alongside 108 women in the community support groups focusing on life skills and health lessons, gardening, and artisan income generating initiatives. A few of our lessons included nutrition, cervical cancer, breast cancer, diabetes, lifesaving skills, and physiotherapy. Volunteers planted 500 seedlings for the Support Group families and our Home-Based Care patients to provide them with a sustainable source of food

We hosted Stage 3 of Rural Teacher Development (RTD) training that is funded by our Foundation for 11 local crèche teachers. These 1 teachers represent 6 crèches in the communities of Khula, Dukuduku, and Ezwenalisha, and teach over 650 children

Our volunteers hosted a well-being workshop for 12 local crèche teachers, which focused on self-confidence and standing firm in the classroom, nutrition and toddler exercise, providing a relaxing environment, and basic hygiene

Volunteers assisted 1,000 crèche children with an educational focus on alphabet and number recognition, shapes, colors, and the body

Volunteers hosted a fun and educational Holiday Club during the school break. We had an incredible attendance and impacted over 1,000 children!

Reading Club reached 300 children in both the Khula and Ezwenalisha communities, with a focus on written, oral skills, and reading English skills for the Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced levels

“Our Saturday morning started with a hippo and crocodile tour on the estuary in St Lucia. It is incredible to get so close to the hippos in the water, they are so big! We were lucky to see a lot of crocodiles out of the water, sunbathing on the banks. After the tour we walked to the beach and had a horseback safari on the beach. The waves rolling onto the beach, the sun shining through the clouds and the dunes made it a gorgeous morning. We ended our Saturday with a visit to the Crocodile Center, to see the crocs being fed. The next day started really early, leaving for our Hluhluwe Game Reserve at 5 in the morning. We were extremely lucky to see two lionesses shortly after entering the park. On the rest of the safari we also got to see impala, buffalo, zebra, giraffe and rhino.”
