Coffetea Café offers the smell and aromas of fresh brews Should you yearn for more sophisticated bites grab some canapes at Mombasa Supper Club. For pure tradition head over to POIKIE for a variety of hearty food. Wine lovers taste some lesser known wines with a variety of cheese & biscuits @ Cheese & Vine . Head down to Zanzibar Beach for a colourful cocktail and some splendid seafood.

Terms & Conditions A: AFRICLASSIC POLICIES AND VALUES At Africlassic we respect the serenity of our environment and surroundings, our neighbours, our residential & event guests. Should you or any of your guests or persons under your control misbehave or not adhere to our policies or values action will be taken. This could mean a request to leave the premises and all music to be switched off completely. This has the potential to ruin your function and destroy the relationship we have with yourself and your company. Please ensure that all your guests and persons under your control are aware of the below policies and values. The following are not allowed and Africlassic reserve the right to ask guests to leave the premises should they transgress any of our rules and policies: B: ZERO NOISE – IT IS REALLY IMPORTANT THAT YOU TAKE NOTE OF THIS REQUIREMENT AND ABSOLUETLY RESPECT THIS RULES No loud noisy cars, loud music from cars and hooting allowed (on arrival & departure) No singing, screaming, shouting, indecent, inappropriate, aggressive, loud or unruly behaviour No external DJ's and no own music & equipment allowed on site without prior written permission & music rule signoff No karaoke, loud music, monotonous music, inappropriate music, music with heavy base No tampering with sound & sound system or interfering with the arranged music or DJ All music / audio equipment will be switched off at the arranged time and no music/sound will be played after this time C: SAFETY & SECURITY No access to the premises without permission / proper identification No excessive drinking and absolutely no drunk behaviour / drunk people allowed on premises No fireworks allowed at all. Smoking and open fires only allowed in designated areas No dangerous games are allowed and nobody is allowed to access the river & river area at any stage D: GENERAL No after function bar raiding & removal of leftover food & opened & unopened drinks No removal of any glasses, cutlery, crockery (this constitutes theft and the appropriate action will be taken) No own liquor, outside food catering, own food catering without prior written authorisation No unauthorised / non-registered guests allowed Guest list - please note that we will only be allowing access to guests with proper identification or valid entrance permission No non-residential or non-paying guests allowed on site without prior arrangement or permission E: QUOTES, PAYMENTS, DEPOSITS, BOOKING VALIDITY, CANCELLATION POLICY Quoted pricing valid for 72 hours from date of quote – If no positive response we reserve the right to sell the date without prior notification Payment terms: 50% Non-refundable deposit due on date of booking in order to secure the date, balance 14 days prior to function A security deposit of up to 100% or more of the function cost could be levied and this is at discretion of Africlassic Detailed menus & event programmes to be agreed and signed off 7 days prior to event Please note that event & accommodation bookings are subject to availability and will only be secured after deposit payments have been made. The final account for the function will be reconciled and submitted within 24 hours and must be settled within 48 hours of submission All additional charges (penalties, breakage, damage and extra charges) levied will be subtracted from the security deposit payment F: VENUE AVAILABILITY AND BOOKED TIMES Please note that additional R 1 000 per hour charges will apply for earlier/later than agreed function times Over extending agreed start and end function times will attract additional charges All guests need to vacate and leave the premises within 30 minutes of the function end time. Failure to do so will invoke the per hour additional charge G: DISCLAIMER NOTICE / INDEMNITY Guests enter and use Africlassic premises at own risk and upon entering confirm that they are aware of the specific dangers of the premises. The Proprietor, its agent/s and/or its employee/s (“the Proprietor”) shall not be liable for, and the guest/s hereby waive/s and abandon/s any claims of whatever nature including but not limited to that for theft, injury, loss or damage of whatever nature, against the Proprietor, whether arising from the Proprietor’s default, negligence or otherwise. Africlassic Rivonia is proud to introduce our tribute to the South African trading stores with nostalgic brand items as part of our Africlassic Food Safari. This is a tribute to all the trading stores across South Africa and it’s vast rural areas and farmlands. These general stores served the rural populations and small towns for may decades. They introduced popular merchandise and offered a place where people could meet & gossip and trade or buy the necessities that would have otherwise been difficult to obtain. There are still many general dealers and spaza shops serving the people; the oldest example being “Oom Samie se Winkel” in Dorp Street, Stellenbosch.

Our Afrinyama Traditional Shisanyama serves beef and chicken cuts hot off the braai/coals/grill. Shisanyama is the term used in townships to describe how people prepare on the bone meat over fire. It is a Zulu word meaning “to burn meat”, which is how the meat is cooked over hot coals & fire. It’s one of South Africa’s most delicious and social ways of eating.

Taste of Morocco in our Moroccan Bedouin tent takes you on another adventure. Morocco is a storied country and has a hundred faces, sounds and an incredible history. You will experience aroma and spice, Moroccan music and authentic Moroccan style décor and food.

Our Coffetea Café honours the coffee and tea trade in Africa. Coffee’s first discovery is of an Abyssinian goat-herder called Kaldi. He watched as his goats became energized after eating berries that grew on some green bushes. Kaldi tried a few and had a similar experience. He took some of the berries to a nearby monastery to share his experience with the monks. The chief monk was unimpressed and threw the berries in the fire. But, the pleasant aroma from the fire was that the berries were recovered and kept in water to preserve them. And that gave humans their first authentic cup of coffee.

Imagine enjoying a late afternoon dhow cruise in Mombasa Bay, Kenya on a traditional Arabian sailboat called the Tamarind Dhow. Feel the fresh ocean breeze, take in the golden glow of the setting sun on the water and smell the tantalizing aroma of grilled prawns, lobster and crab. In the background, the sound of a Swahili Band and the occasional call to prayer from the mainland shore. If ever you want to experience something remarkable in life – this is it. This and many other African Experiences inspired the creation of our Mombasa Supper Club restaurant.

POIKIE Restaurant with the century old black pot chandeliers, nostalgic bicycles and vintage branded tin invites you to the unique tastes of traditional African three legged potjie meals. This three-legged cauldron originated in the Netherlands and was brought to South Africa in the 17th century by the Voortrekkers. As trekkers (pioneers) shot wild game, it was added to the pot. Bones were included to thicken the stew. From this early days "mieliepap" (maize porridge) were also cooked in this potjies over open fires and became a legendary way of preparing staple food.

More than 7,000 years ago, prehistoric people in the African Sahara made dairy products, such as butter, yoghurt and cheese. The first vines were brought to Cape Town in 1655 and planted by Jan van Riebeeck. In February 1659, the Cape grapes produced the first wine. “SURVIVOR WINES” “One fine day, as a truck laden with cattle rattled past their Cabernet Sauvignon vineyard, one of the passengers decided: The Cow Stop Here. She jumped. Not only did she survive, but she thrived. Because she embodies the free spirit of the Swartland, these wines pay tribute to their noble Nguni cow, Survivor.

Enjoy a view of the Victoria falls from our Zanzibar beach.  No, we’re not confused about where Zanzibar Island and Zimbabwe’s mighty waterfall is located, we just decided to create our very own version of it in the heart of Sandton, South Africa. Zanzibar is a small tropical island twenty miles off the east coast of Africa and forms part of the United Republic of Tanzania with semi autonomous Government.
