AfriKids and Deutsche Bank What AfriKids can offer – Raised Understanding Challenging Misconceptions about Aid “I believe history will judge AfriKids as one of the few charities who manage to answer the million few charities who manage to answer the million dollar question; how can we make aid work for

Africa? As well as encouraging staff to get involved in the fundraising
AfriKids is committed to ensuring that when people give to us they are making an informed people give to us they are making an informed choice. Our unique focuses on local empowerment and sustainability go right to the heart of the most fundamental debates surrounding both the international development community and the UK Third Sector. By striving to make every assistance we give in Ghana sustainable, and to make ourselves redundant we are offering one answer to the questions surrounding charities’ purpose, management and impact. We encourage our
supporters to also engage in this debate and to deepen their understanding of the problems facing children in Africa and how problems facing children in Africa, and how best to resolve them. Most stay involved with AfriKids for years, all go away with a new perspective on giving.
"We all thought that the documentary was astounding in its perception and, frankly, took us all up a pretty
steep learning curve, challenging some steep learning curve challenging some rather woolly pre‐conceptions and assumptions: precisely its task, I guess! The film made an unforgettable impression on us all“ Sarah Baker, AfriKids Donor
The 2008 documentary ‘How to Make a Difference in Africa’ examines the aid industry through the prism of AfriKids’ work and is through the prism of AfriKids work and is presented by BAFTA winning African journalist Soroius Samura. It is the perfect resource for a lunch time screening and debate. Many schools and community groups also use the film as a learning aid and we can make if available to staff families for this.
