The Passing of a Great Dragon Man Grand Master Yap Cheng Hai Tribute Article written by: Master Gayle Atherton
As
some of you may know, on June 5th this year, we had the passing of a Great Dragon – Grand Master Yap Cheng Hai. He was a wonderful friend and “one of the Feng Shui greats” when it came to all levels and practices of Feng Shui. George had recently asked me to share something about my friendship and experience with Yap Cheng Hai. I hope you will enjoy my sharing as much as I enjoyed Yap Cheng Hai. He was more than a grandmaster of Feng Shui; he was a lively friend as well. I can still remember the first time I met Yap Cheng Hai. It must have been around about 1996 as a vague recollection because he was teaching one of his very first ever Feng Shui trainings in Australia (in Perth). He had called, inviting me to come and meet with him and when I spoke to him on the phone, he was so sweet that I could not resist and so off I went to sit in on his 4 day training about Feng Shui basics. From the very first moment we met, Yap Cheng Hai and I liked each other a great deal. Grandmaster Yap had an enormous passion for all aspects of Feng Shui. And just being in his company, it was plain to see that he had made such a personal in depth study of each method – meticulously and methodically. For this reason – he knew every aspect of different Feng Shui schools with great intimacy. Aside from myself (back in the mid 90’s), he was the only other Feng Shui Master I had ever known to explore the depths of Feng Shui by practicing it on himself first (often activating negative Feng Shui and then fixing it by the use of this own method). In fact, he and I often had many informal chit-chats about what would happen if we/he/me activated this or blocked up that (with lots of hysterical moments). Aside from the theoretical background to Feng Shui and all the formula “fluff” (as he called it – mind you he did introduce most of the formula fluff himself at
the time), it was very clear that Grandmaster Yap had a great passion for all aspects of San He. His entire thinking was often orbiting around several points of land forms or water forms with pretty well every environment he ever encountered. He loved “form school” deeply and he completely understood the relationship between heaven, man and earth to a very advanced level. In addition to this, Grandmaster Yap lived and breathed the water dragon. Essentially, it was he who made “Water Dragon Feng Shui” famous throughout the whole world (in both the west and the east). And, if you spent time around him whilst he was thinking out loud about Water Dragon you got to discover his very articulate and creative ways of adapting it and making it work in modern environments. He wasn’t afraid to add his own form shape applications to water dragon to make it work (which was really quite daring and if you understand San He you’ll know what I mean). Of all the Feng Shui studies he had under his belt, Master Yap always had a great passion for 8 Mansions. Being a practitioner of earlier times it was clear that 8 Mansions was an interpretation that was deeply etched into his brain. Having always had a deep love for 8 Mansions myself, it was wonderful being around him and having all kinds of conversations about Chi distribution, grid manipulation and combining it all with Flying Stars.
2
In fact, he was only other practitioner I ever met (aside from myself) who would manipulate Feng Shui grids to get the Feng Shui he wanted in the end. He was adventurous with Feng Shui and loved to dabble in it – just like me. “Grandmaster Yap was a very lively personality in every way.” He had an avid sense of humour and loved cracking lots of jokes about almost every topic (the whole day through). If truth be told, we used to spend hours and hours just laughing at all kind of different things because he always saw the funny side to pretty well everything (and was often utterly hysterical in his comments and observations). Aside from this, Grandmaster Yap was very well read in almost every subject, and he enjoyed exploring all kinds of metaphysical sciences never minding where they came from. In fact, one of his most famous sayings was “Never Mind” and he never did mind terribly about anything (I noticed)... He had learnt to make himself content, no matter where he was, who he was with, what he was doing and what was going on. From this point of view, his Dharma (inculcation) was quite impressive. His own spiritual beliefs were a unique blend of Taoism and Buddhism. I can still remember a day where he had corrected me for being “attached” to an outcome. I was trying to make something happen for his teaching program and he told me not to be so attached to the outcome. Naturally, hearing his wisdom and knowing the meaning from my own spiritual background, I could not refuse. Going back to his interests: In his spare time, Grandmaster Yap used to love talking about all kinds of religion, philosophy, meditation practice, Qi Gong and of course his greatest passion next to Feng Shui was Martial arts. No matter what we discussed, he had great respect for it and I have fond memories of him practicing some kind of Qi Gong – even whilst sitting at the dinner table. Or, flinging the young chaps (as he called them) who accompanied him everywhere at the time – across the room, over the bed, or simply swinging them like frisbees off his arms – one each arm with both arms going at the same time. Having mastered more than 12 styles of Kung Fu himself, plus the Yan Shou Gong – which he developed himself, he was very high up in the
October 2014 world of Martial arts. He was an official Patriarch of Wu Shu and deeply involved in Shaolin, as well as the Federation of Chinese Martial Arts where he was the Chief Judge for many competitions, serving as an active member on the board. Even in his 70’s and 80’s Grandmaster Yap lived a very busy life as a Martial Arts Sifu (Master) often spending a good portion of his time each year teaching and judging competitions. At our very first meeting in Perth, he ardently took down the name of a very dark martial artist I had come across in my travels (practicing black martial arts) because he and his colleagues used to monitor such people and practices. Some of the other things he loved included: • music (he didn’t mind what kind of music – anything would do) • dancing (any kind – he could dance until late) • photography (he had collected numerous cameras along the way) • his rings. He collected quite a few of them, they all had different meanings, powers and qualities. And he seemed to have a lot of adventures with them too… like losing them on planes only to get them back mysteriously. • his more than 100 Buddha’s which amounted to a whole wall of Buddha’s in his home – all different shapes, sizes, materials, etc. Some Buddha’s were grand, some were simple but each had their own story of how they got there and he loved them all. So Grandmaster Yap Cheng Hai was indeed a gentleman with a generous dose of dignity and honour within. He was a great and colourful character to anyone who knew him. Even though our meeting was by chance, of course, in a spiritual world we understand that nothing is by chance – and I feel very glad to have known him and to have had the link in destiny. October 2014 Back at the very beginning, at the end of his first 4 day training in Australia (in 1996) Yap Cheng Hai expressed a sincere desire to share his knowledge with people (he was asking me how I thought he could do that in Australia). Even though our Feng Shui practices were quite different, I decided to facilitate him in Australia myself.
So who will manage his legacy and lineage now? Being a man of thought, Yap Cheng Hai had already created the foundations for his legacy and lineage long before he departed. In fact, even when he was coming to Australia his daughter Boon was coming to train with him in the class – with everyone else.
Basically I recognised that even though he and I practiced different things, I really felt he did have a lot to offer people and others may find his teachings invaluable. In truth, for me our exchange was more like 2 old friends meeting again after a long time. After establishing his trainings in Australia (which attracted a lot of international recognition), I took Yap Cheng Hai to the USA (where he became established again). And from here his teachings went out into the western world. His knowledge also gave Lillian Too her start in Feng Shui as well and her very first two books include his name.
So his third son Yap Boh Chu will succeed his Feng Shui legacy (no doubt with a lot of love support from his daughter Hwee Boon). And the Yap Cheng Hai Yan Shou Gong lineage of will be succeeded by Yap Boh Heong – his 1st son. Both Chu and Boon have a great commitment to Feng Shui (I know) and I have no doubt Heong has a great commitment to Yan Shou Gong as well.

“It is not possible to distance ourselves from those we work with or the environment within which we work. We are all impacted 24 hours a day by our environment. As we affect those around us, so they affect us, often in ways that we are not conscious of. Until we become aware of this we will remain victims to our past limiting our availability to our clients and adding to our own stress levels.”

Message from the New President I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself as the new president of the AFSC. I have been learning and practising Feng Shui for 20 years. In that time, I have studied everything from crystals and dowsing to classical Feng Shui. In 2007, I was awarded the title, Master of Feng Shui, by Master Joseph Yu of the Feng Shui Research Centre. I am very passionate about Feng Shui and spreading its benefits to the wider community. I am honoured to represent the AFSC, which is the largest Feng Shui organisation in Australia and includes international membership. The AFSC committee plans to engage with members at a grass roots level, with a focus on local events, by inviting members to attend one of our State meetings. The meetings are mainly social in nature and provide an opportunity to meet and network with fellow practitioners, share stories, discuss cases, and receive updates about upcoming workshops, courses, guest speakers, and field trips. For information about your next local meeting contact your State Representative at http://www.afsc.org.au/afsc_representatives.php In response to conference and survey feedback for more training opportunities, the Association will also be organising “AFSC Presents” workshops for members via webinars. Stay tuned for more information. It’s also important we build bridges with the Building and Design Industry. After all, town planning and building design are some of the original uses of Feng Shui. In 2013 AFSC invited Architect Valerie Mac to be a judge at the excellence awards and also present at the Melbourne conference.
She gave us valuable insights into the design industry, how it views Feng Shui, and suggested we increase our professionalism and to move away from the “woo-woo” image. AFSC Committee member and architect Natasha Watkins has also been invited to assist us in speaking the language of Architects. Natasha shall be conducting webinars in the near future on basic architectural information such as “how to read floor plans”. The AFSC has the opportunity to shape our industry in ways that we are not able to do as individuals. Of concern to me and the Association, is the amount of people leaving the industry, citing either health reasons or an inability to make a living as a consultant the reasons for departing. I would like us to begin a conversation on raising our profile, improving members professionalism and education, increase practitioners’ income, and discuss setting minimum standards and minimum recommended fees for consultants in the industry. We welcome your input and involvement in shaping Feng Shui in Australia by contacting us on enquiries@afsc.org.au I look forward to being of service. Regards George Bennis President AFSC

Lao Tzu said, “A leader is best when people barely know he exists, when his work is done, his aim fulfilled, they will say: we did it ourselves.”
Outgoing President’s Message For the past four years I have proudly held the position of President of the Association. For the first year, as I was adjusting to the position, we were busy organising a conference, and as a committee, we were discussing the management of the association and members’ facilities.
It has now come time for me to step down as President due to personal and professional reasons. I have relished my time on the committee and have learnt a lot. I am still working with the committee in the background for the time being and welcome the new incoming President, Master George Bennis, a very competent and professional Feng Shui expert. I send my thanks to all the committee members I’ve worked with over the years. You have contributed so much to our Association. Most importantly I would like to thank you, our members for your ongoing support and your committment to the Feng Shui industry as a whole. Best wishes in your Feng Shui journey….. Jodi
In the second year, we made some major changes and innovations to the association, focussing around the AFSC website and membership levels. In the third year we introduced new ways of upgrading and assessing membership skills and included professional development lecturers at our conference. In my final year, we had been working on a review of the outcome of these changes and spent a great deal of time to present to you, our members, an excellent line-up of speakers in our 2013 conference. During my tenure we also reached out to other professional associations worldwide and formed the Global Feng Shui Alliance with the FS Society in the UK and the International FS Guild in the US. This in itself has been a fruitful venture as we have all learnt from each other, ways to improve and constantly develop Feng Shui as a profession.

New York, New York
(What a Wonderful Town)
The Fascinating Feng Shui of New York By: Fran Gleeson
W
here we live and work can have a huge impact on us in both obvious and subliminal ways.
Recently I visited New York, where I was struck by the exuberant energy of the city and its people. Having travelled to many cities before, I found the energy of Manhattan, palpably different, heightened and intense. Intrigued, I set out to discover why. From a feng shui perspective, of course. We know that feng shui philosophy is partly based on time and space. When a structure is established, its age and compass direction indicate tendencies towards certain events, circumstances, and behaviours of the people who will live there. It is debatable whether or not a city can be considered to belong to a period. According to Master George Bennis, some masters argue that a city can never be considered finished in the way a house is finished with a signed off completion date. However, there are certainly suggestions that the Fire element is a strong component of the way New York, or at least, Manhattan, behaves. And, if we look at the year New York was founded, it was in 1857. This year belonged to period 9 which spanned 1844-1864.
It may well be that its early beginnings partly explain this.
But there’s more to consider... Manhattan is the main borough of New York City and is situated on the South East . The Southeast is a Wood orientation. Wood is associated with the arts and culture as well as paper, fashion, scholarship and nature. Like all orientations, it has its own personality. The innate energy of Wood is youthful, quick growing, optimistic. Its predominant attributes are strength and flexibility, youthfulness and expansion. Its seeks to grow upwards and its season is Spring so it is associated with nature, budding new growth, new beginnings, fertility and sensuality. It’s also associated with qualities of leadership, generosity, kindness and idealism. On the flip side, its negative states are anger, rudeness, aggression, insensitivity and impatience Water nourishes Wood. Manhattan is surrounded by the waters of The Hudson and the East River, which cradle the city and power up the Wood element, which in turn nourishes the Fire element. The qualities and activities of Wood and are made even stronger by the shapes of its buildings; in this case, by buildings that grow oh so upwards.
Period 9; the Fire element. We know that Fire is associated with performance, beauty, intelligence, socialising, love, passion, leadership, spirituality, insight, dynamism, aggression, intuition, reason, and expressiveness. The fire personality is extrovert and fun loving And these qualities are well and truly alive in New York today.
8
The skyscrapers... And Skyscrapers belong to the Wood element being tall and rectangle or cylindrical. Even more significant, skyscrapers with pointy tops belong to two elements: Wood and Fire. Wood and Fire working together. This does seem to suggest that these triangle shapes atop the buildings may be the real reason for the city’s sense of excitement, performance and flamboyant nature. This ‘forest’ of tall buildings, for which New York is legendary, give support to performance, the arts, scholarship, innovation and celebrity of New Yorkers and all the attendant behaviours, institutions and achievements, associated with them. This predominance of Wood and Fire has spawned celebrated museums, art galleries, concert halls, performance spaces, theatres, and street talent. The city has given birth to two world renowned Universities, Columbia and New York City University. It houses two of the globes most influential newspapers, The New York Times and The Wall Street journal. It is a literary city where writers such as Walt Whitman, Edith Wharton, Henry Miller, Don De Lillo, Nora Ephron, Groucho Marks and hundreds of others honed their skills. The fashion industry, another Wood industry, flourishes. The majority of American fashion houses are based in New York City. It even has an area known as The Garment District. Every known global and local fashion house is in evidence here. Significantly, in the centre of New York is the stunning 4 km by .8 km Central Park, an energy hub of woodlands, lawns, lakes and pathways.
October 2014
It impacts its residents’ health, the quality of the air they breathe, the kind of energy they express and their attitude to others. Celebrities and leaders such as the Clintons, Madonna and Sting, live in apartments overlooking the park. Yoko Ono still lives there, in the home she shared with John Lennon. Here is an open centre of constantly refreshed qi that bathes the city and flows out, attracting the talented individuals who want to live there and the millions who visit every year. New York, in the past, has had a reputation as a city of rude people. Maybe that is still so in some quarters, but my friend and I found exactly the opposite. Every time we asked for directions they stopped, and patiently gave detailed instructions to help us get to where we wanted to go. “OK you walk two blocks, make a left at …..street, walk 3 blocks and make a right at……..” It was not only patient, it was teacherly, another Wood quality. When my friend fell over in the street about six people stopped to help her and the porter from a nearby hotel rushed over with water and a cloth for her to clean her hands. In a word they were extraordinarily kind. Maybe 9/11 turned the city into a kinder place or maybe the launch into period 8 with its more gentle nature, is partly responsible, but this is definitely the Wood nature showing its ‘good’ side. One cannot think about New York without thinking of Wall Street. The New York Stock Exchange or the wealth of whole Financial District at its southern tip. Here the water element comes into play. The waters of the Hudson and the East river meet at this tip having travelled down each side of Manhattan. Where the financial district is located, these two watercourses meet, creating a powerful water mouth, and ‘it is said that two watercourses merging manifests a true dragon.’ (Paton 2013, p207). But even more potent is the body of water at this tip, forming a pool which is cradled or embraced by the land masses of Brooklyn on the one side, and New Jersey and Staten Island on the other,

October 2014
You may well argue that many cities have some of these qualities playing a role in their evolution. You would be right. My interest was in the heightened way it works energetically here. Youthful energy at midnight in the streets, crammed with happy people, and during the day, corporations that are young and innovative, such as Apple, flourish, while momentous success, prosperity and renown have been born within what is essentially a tiny space. Water, Wood and Fire at work. Fran Gleeson www.fengshuifran.com.au forming a large Ming Tang, sufficiently slow moving to accumulate qi. Significantly the small gap bringing in water from the North Atlantic Ocean, yet another water mouth, contributes to this pooling while the tiny Ellis Island and Governer’s Island allow for the qi to be stored; all in all an exceptional arrangement for prosperity.

The Importance of Disclaimers by Natasha Watkins

ith few exceptions, clients seek the advice of a Feng Shui consultant when they have concerns in relation to either money, luck, relationships or health. As a consultant, we endeavour to provide the best knowledge and expertise that we can. However, a client’s expectation will often be incredibly high and when the Tattslotto win doesn’t eventuate, wealth doesn’t materialize, they fail to meet their “soul mate” or their illness is not cured, a client may become disgruntled and seek legal action on perceived promises or guarantees as a result of reading your website or following the advice given during a Consultation. Many Feng Shui practitioners assume that their report, consultation, website or blog doesn’t require a Disclaimer. However this statement, whether it’s a paragraph or a whole page, is an important aspect of protecting yourself legally and an essential part of being a Consultant.
October 2014 Therefore it really is essential to declare in a Disclaimer that while the content is for INFORMATION ONLY and readers must use their discretion when using the information on your website to make decisions especially in relation to wealth, health and good luck. In addition, if your website contains testimonials and examples, it is important to highlight that these are exceptional and that it is no way a guarantee that everyone will achieve the same results. If you have advertisements or reviews on your website, you may also wish to include a note that these are not necessarily endorsements. A short paragraph explaining the 3 forms of Luck – Heaven (destiny and karma), Man (character, motivation and dedication) and Earth luck (Feng Shui) could also be included. As a Consultant we can only assist them with Earth Luck and have no control over their Heaven and Man Luck. Consultations & Reports
Websites In terms of your website, the Disclaimer is a space to assert that the content on your website is INFORMATIONAL ONLY and visitors must use their own discretion when using the content from your site. Put simply, you will not be liable for any damages in the event that someone uses information from your website, and that information causes loss, damage, injury or harm. While it may seem unlikely, consider the consequences of someone taking information on your website to be financial or medical advice. Affirming that the theories and information on your website are not to be used as an alternative to other professional advice is important. Feng Shui is not intended to replace the professional services of a doctor and is not an alternative to seeking professional medical advice and treatment. Similarly, using Feng Shui principals does not imply that the client will become wealthy and is not intended to replace the advice of a financial advisor. You are not liable for loss of business, revenue or profits that may be incur should a reader use information from your website.
When it comes to Consultations and written reports, a Disclaimer needs to be included in the report, as well as Floor Plans. Specifying that information contained in your Report is offered with the best intentions and refers to the Principles of Classical, Traditional & Modern Feng Shui and as such, bears no responsibility for the results and experiences of Clients. Results are not guaranteed and experiences will vary depending on specific situations, individual clients’ participation and involvement. The adoption and application of the information and advice offered during a Consultation or contained in your report should not be used as an alternative to other Professional advice. All advice rests with the Client. You / your business is not responsible in any manner whatsoever for any injury, damages or loss that may occur through following the advice of your business. Products & Links In addition to services, products, cures and enhancements provided by your business should be included. You should state that under no circumstances shall you / your business be liable for incidental, special or consequential damages or loss that may occur as a result of using your products or cures.

FENG SHUI, 4 PILLARS ASTROLOGY AND YOUR HEALTH
October 2014
By: Derelle Ball When examining the fei xing / flying stars feng shui of a residence or business, there are particular energy combinations that indicate the potential for a higher probability of certain health issues occurring in that location of the building (particularly if it is being used regularly as a bedroom or office). For example, a 5 earth and 1 water combination can indicate issues connected with the bladder, kidneys and sexual organs. When water and earth combine, what do you get? Mud! So in this case, the earth element is capable of clogging the fluids via the urinary system, internal fluids and blood flow. When 2 earth and 1 water energies combine, health issues connected with the stomach, intestinal tract, sexual organs and digestion problems are more likely to occur. When 5 earth and 4 wood combine, there is an indication of health issues connected with the chest/breast area. When 2 earth and 4 wood combine, the probability of stress and mental tension is increased. When 5 earth and 7 metal combine, the probability of health issues connected with the mouth and teeth is increased. When 2 earth and 7 metal combine, they form a He-Tu combination for fire, which can increase fire hazard in that location of the building as well as stir up ‘heat’ (or inflammation) in the body. When there is too much heat in the body, the kidneys are stressed and this in turn places more pressure on the heart. The combination feng shui consultants tend to dread the most when examining a client’s bedroom for sickness qi is 2 earth and 5 earth. This strong negative earth combination is an indicator of growth inside the body (often in the form of tumours). The element that feeds earth is fire, so if you find this energy combination in a bedroom which also contains sha qi in the external landform via a pylon, poison arrow feature, negative mountain, or triggered internally via a red feature wall for example, the probability increases. The 9 energy is also fire element, so for example, in a year when the annual 9 energy affects that particular room, the 2 and 5 earth energies will be even stronger. Of course, not every bedroom
containing this combination will automatically result in the occupants developing cancer. You also need to examine the surrounding landform to see if the energies are supported or weakened, the interaction of communication between the client’s Kua (or Ming Gua) energy in relation to the energy being absorbed from the wall behind the bedhead while sleeping, and the current interplay of elements in the room itself according to the general colour scheme, form and shapes. OK, so now you may be thinking, well I have no idea if my bedroom or office has any of these combinations, and I can’t afford a feng shui consultation at present, so what can I do to help protect myself and my family? Before I answer this question, I should add that not all earth qi is bad. The 8 earth qi has very positive health and healing effects during this current Period of 8 (which will continue until 3 Feb 2024) and it is possible to align beds and regularly used chairs and lounges so that the occupants in your home are regularly able to tap into very positive health qi when sleeping and relaxing in these specific areas. It’s like plugging in your internal batteries for a recharge. You can locate positive health energy in your home and business according to the fei xing / flying star feng shui natal chart of the building which is ascertained according to the construction date and the precise compass orientation that it faces towards. Each building has its own unique chart based on these 2 factors – there is no such thing as one natal chart fits all!
13
October 2014 In fact, there are certain times when you are able to make positive use of the 2 and 5 earth energies as well, depending on how you tap into the inherent character of the qi in connection with where it is located. For example, if you are able to remove the sickness qi from the 2 Black, it becomes the ‘living mother’ qi. Anyway, back to the question – what can I do? The answer is metal element and gourds. The sound and movement of metal helps drain negative earth energy because in the natural cycle of elements, earth feeds metal, so if there is a continued vibrational quality of metal (via sound or movement) in the home, then negative earth is partly subdued. This can be in the form of a chiming pendulum clock, an anniversary clock with moving metallic spheres at the base, a solar powered golden Prayer Wheel placed on a window sill that catches light, regularly playing harmonious piano music in the home, regularly ringing a pleasant sounding metallic bell or singing bowl in the home. Metal element colours and forms are white, gold, golden yellow, silver, shiny grey, brass, bronze and round, curved, spherical shapes. Space clearing uses the sound of metal to help disperse sha (stagnant) qi and when you combine the sound of metal and the clearing qi from sage or sandalwood incense, you can re-energise positive energy in a home or business significantly. It’s also possible to collect sha qi for removal while space clearing, via coarse rock salt, onion and various other herbal concoctions. I like to fine tune my own space clearing with tuning forks pitched according to the Solfeggio Frequencies. These frequencies resonate at a very deep healing, vibrational level with the earth and mankind and can be found in ancient Gregorian chants. The sickness qi that attaches itself to the 2 earth energy is naturally attracted to the shape of gourds. Gourds (also known as the wu lu or calabash) belong to the pumpkin family and in many parts of the world, they are grown and dried and hung as decoration in the home and restaurants, and used as a container to carry grain, water and medicine. When using an organic gourd, you should make sure it has been properly dried, and cut a hole into the top section of the gourd so the sickness
qi can flow into the gourd where it will be partially transformed into a less harmful energy. You can add clear lacquer to the gourd or paint it golden yellow, gold or silver. If you can’t locate an organic dried gourd, then you can also get brass gourds or alternatively, look for a metallic vase in a gourdshape (ie with a big belly, a narrow neck and an opening at the top). Keep the gourd beside beds and near work desks (on the floor or on a shelf or table). Note: Those of you who are familiar with the new age ‘fixed bagua’ or simplified ‘8 aspirations compass method’ may say “well shouldn’t I just concentrate on adding a water feature to the East sector to feed the wood qi of the Zhen Trigram or in the section of each room to the left when standing in the doorway looking into the room to feed the ‘health’ sector?” I really wish it was that simple!
Every building has a unique natal chart of energy flow according to the time it was constructed and the precise compass direction it faces towards and in many cases, adding a water feature to an area (without knowing the actual flying stars natal chart of the building) can actually do more harm than good - especially if you are placing water on a favourable mountain energy, thus drowning the positive health and relationship qi in that location, or on a negative finance energy, thus increasing the probability of loss of finances due to illness, litigation or misfortune. In 4 Pillars Astrology, yang earth corresponds to the stomach and chest and yin earth corresponds to the spleen and belly. The Ox, Dragon, Goat and Dog also connect to the earth element as they represent the end of the 4 seasons when earth is prevalent. When the Ox, Dog and Goat combine together in an individual’s chart (in the 4 pillars and also in the time factor), this forms an ‘earth penalty’ which can trigger significant health issues from hidden disease, and in some cases can also trigger issues connected with earth in the surrounding landform. Hidden disease and tumours are more likely to occur when earth is unbalanced. The types of

October 2014 growths connected with earth-related disease are most often in relation to oxidative stress via free radicals causing genetic damage to cells and in the process, altering the DNA which can then become cancer. Earth element is slow to move, just like the hidden disease which can manifest and spread without the individual being aware of what is happening within. One way to help protect against this type of earth imbalance in your system is to exercise regularly in order to oxygenate the blood and promote healthy muscles (which also relate to earth) and also go to the root cause of the problem and fight the free radicals with plenty of regular antioxidants in your diet. Too many free radicals in the body (via oxidation) can also lead to other health issues connected with the eyes, inflammation, nerve damage, accelerated ageing, heart disease, arthritis and alzheimers disease. The best sources of antioxidants to fight free radicals can be found in the following foods: WW
Red and black beans: (kidney beans, pinto beans, lentils)
WW Berries: (goji berry, acai berry, blueberries, cranberries, blackberries, raspberries, strawberries)
now links the consumption of dairy products in the diet to increased risk of breast, ovarian and prostate cancer. If you’re interested in finding out more, I can recommend the book: “Your Life in Your Hands: Understand, Prevent and Overcome Beast Cancer and Ovarian Cancer” by Professor Jane Plant. Here’s an excerpt from the book: “When I eliminated all dairy products from my diet, a large ‘’secondary’’ tumour comprising cancer cells in the lymph nodes in my neck, which was thought to be incurable, disappeared in weeks. For me, this is pretty compelling evidence. But that’s not all. Since many of the powerful chemicals contained in milk are known to have an important role in the development of young mammals, including cell division, and milk is designed for this purpose, it is worth asking the question: what happens if the chemicals designed to stimulate cell growth in newly-born animals send similar signals to adult tissue?” Let Derelle enhance the health, wealth and nurturing potential of your home with an On-Site Residential Feng Shui Consultation.
WW Vegetables: (artichoke, leeks, garlic, onions, asparagus, carrots, red capsicum, broccoli, red cabbage, spinach, egg plant, pumpkin) WW
Fruit: (pomegranate, plums, mangoes, apricots, oranges, guava, dark grapes, red apples, cherries, raisons and prunes)
WW
Fluids: (coffee, red wine, green tea)
WW
Spices: (cloves, oregano, rosemary, turmeric, sage, cinnamon)
WW
Nuts: (pecans, almonds, hazelnuts, walnuts, pistachios)
Also, if you have been diagnosed with a tumour or some other growth in your body, it’s worth considering replacing all dairy products in your diet with organically grown soy products. There’s a lot of potential hormonal growth stimulants in milk - whether it’s cow’s milk or goat’s milk, and there is a large body of evidence that

QMDJ saves a client from a disastrous deal by Masters Ying Li and Eduardo Hess first published on August 18, 2014
On
February 17, 2014, after lunch we went with a client to check on the new hotel
he was ready to buy. This was a beautiful hotel located in a highly sought after location. The hotel is profitable and there was no major Feng Shui problems. All contracts for the transaction were ready for signing. The purpose of our visit was to make recommendations on any Feng Shui changes he should make after he gets the hotel. As we were getting on our way to the hotel, an ambulance with siren passed by and came to the street corner where we were standing on. Then at the moment we were arriving the hotel, a police car with siren passed by.
The police car and ambulance with siren is represented by the injury door (vehicle with loud siren) and light flashing (Ding) in Gen. It is clashed by the Commander palace Kun. Both Gen and Kun palace controls Kan where the client’s birth year stem Yi was located. It is Wei day, so Kun palace is particularly strong. Kan is void, which shows that in the client’s mind, he is totally oblivious of the impending danger. In the Kun palace, there is clash between Jia Zi Wu and Jia Wu Xin, together with shocking door. This shows a fierce litigation between two parties over money. Jia Zi Wu represents capital. Wu palace controls client’s palace, shows that if he goes forward with this purchase, he will loose his money, and get entangled into a major (Jia Wu Xin is Tai Sui, so it is major) law suite. The client was shocked by what we told him. And soon after events confirmed that indeed this was going to be the case.
Here we have a great deal of noise from loud sirens, what does this mean?
Just as QMDJ chart had indicated, the hotel was owned by two partners who were in the middle of a fierce law suit against each other. Soon after we told our client the bad news, one of the hotel partners tried to black mail our client into giving him more money and hide the truth from the other partner. Having been warned by us, our client quickly backed out of the deal.
We looked at the QMDJ chart. It indicated that it would be disastrous to proceed with the purchase. We told our client to call off the purchase of the hotel.
Needless to say the client was extremely thankful to have been saved from the impending mess of law suit and loss of capital that would have ensued had he gone ahead with the deal.
It is said by the ancients: 不动,不占。 “When there is no movement, don’t divine.”
Here was the chart of the moment: 辛己丙甲 未未寅午

A well attended AFSC Brisbane meeting held in April at The Three Monkeys in West End included new AFSC President George Bennis who provided us with an overview of the status of the national committee together with an insight into different ways the organisation could enhance its profile, raise public awareness about the industry, and develop opportunities to grow member support systems.
Another great night at our most recent AFSC Sydney meeting! We had a lot of laughter in between discussions on face reading, fees that we should charge and how we can support each other if we stumble on solutions.
The width and breadth of knowledge and friendship on the day was very evident as we shared our diversity of experience, several Feng Shui case studies, future events calendar, and so on.

Kony Kang offered to be the go to person if we are stuck, due to his lineage and experience. He will also be organising a workshop towards the end of the year on Chatswood and how the shop owners use Feng Shui to promote their businesses, and early next year he is looking at a workshop on Feng Shui-ing websites, all of course with the AFSC support. There were 8 of us with a new student member.

The West Australian group were meeting last year and we had up to six members attending. This year the number is down to three and we are meeting monthly at the Hillarys Marina for a casual meeting to discuss Feng Shui charts etc. In February I held three talks on the Year of the Horse which were all well attended. One of the meetings was held in Yallingup which is three and a half hours drive south of Perth. We have a big following down there in relation to Feng Shui. I was invited to the Dunsborough and Yallingup Chamber of Commerce to promote Feng Shui wherein over 100 people attended. We are hoping to get more people to join our meetings.
Our most recent AFSC Melbourne meeting at the Roast Duck Restaurant at Box Hill was great! Natasha, Edgar, Fran, Jodie and myself attended and we enjoyed various dishes from the scrumptious and well-priced menu whilst we chatted about charts, shared our Feng Shui knowledge, heard about members’ travel stories, and we also touched on committee procedures.
Stay tuned for email alerts re upcoming meetings!

Why choose a career in Four Pillars? October 2014 Why Choose a Career in Feng Shui? Why choose a career in Four Pillars? Why Choose a Career in Feng Shui?
The Ministry of Feng Shui and Four Pillars of Destiny emerged from the need for well informed and knowledgeable consultants that understood pure Feng Shui, not intentional, intuitive or New Age and able to read and analyse a home & a birth chart with depth. After learning many methods it was easy to understand what does work and what does not. This is what the Ministry prides itself on. The Cert IV in Feng Shui consultancy & Cert IV in Four Pillars of Destiny courses the content and standard are appropriate to the qualification received which in turn indicates to your clients the skills you have achieved. Both courses give you the knowledge and then you acquire this skill with practice. Students are assisted to attain this knowledge and achieve an Accredited standard that puts them on the road to success. A professional and well informed student can practice as a consultant after finishing the first year (although you start doing family and friends homes & Destiny by lesson 6). This allows the student to work as a consultant in homes, businesses and from the comforts of your own home office/business.
