LA TO M ATIN A D E BU Ñ O L La fiesta m ás participativa y reciente,que atrae a visitantes de todo el m undo,se da cita en Buñol,provincia de Valencia,el últim o m iércoles del m es de agosto.Invita a pasar una hora de risas y tom atazos.Los orígenes de esta fiesta se rem ontan al año 1945,cuando unos jóvenes decidieron hacerse un hueco dentro de la com itiva de un desfile con m úsicos,gigantes y cabezudos.El ím petu de los jóvenes hizo que cayera un participante que,presa de la ira,em pezó a golpear todo lo que encontraba a su paso.Por capricho del destino,allí había un puesto de verduras que fue pasto de la m ultitud enfurecida:la gente em pezó a tirarse tom ates unos a otros hasta que las fuerzas del orden público pusieron fin a aquella batalla vegetal.Al año siguiente,los jóvenes repitieron el altercado de form a voluntaria y llevaron los tom ates de su casa.Aunque la policía disolvió en sucesivos años la reciente tradición,los chicos habían hecho historia (w w w .latom atina.es). Fiesta considerada de Interés Turístico Internacional, hoy en día 45.000 personas participan en la “batalla” donde se lanzan 125 toneladas de tom ates.Para participar sólo hay que acercarse a Buñol,eso sí,no es conveniente llevar ropa que quieras volver a ponerte.
