RIBA signs accord with Spanish institute to promote international work opportunities
The RIBA signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Spanish Institute of Architects in Madrid (COAM) this week to develop and promote international work opportunities for British and Spanish architects and help practices to gain business together in countries of mutual interest. This is particularly relevant in South American countries, where Spain has strong cultural links and the RIBA has established education links with validated schools of architecture. The agreement was signed by Pierre Wassenaar (RIBA Councillor and Trustee) on behalf of the RIBA President and by Jose Antonio Granero Ramirez the Decano (President) of the Colegio Oficial de Arqitectos de Madrid, in the presence of the UK Ambassador to Spain, Giles Paxman. The RIBA is now working with the COAM to develop guidance for practices working in selected countries and is planning a trade mission to these countries in 2013 with the support of UKTI. Any RIBA members and practices interested in forming partnerships with their Spanish counterparts to develop mutual business links can register their interest by emailing Marcus Deeley, the RIBA's Head of International, at marcus.deeley@riba.org
