TEACHING YOUTH HELPS VARSITY REMEMBER WHERE IT ALL BEGAN Before the opening of their 2022-23 seasons, Harrisburg High School coaches and athletes took time in October to provide training to tomorrow’s team stars. Coach Callie Aylward and the HHS gymnastics team hosted 44 elementary-age girls and boys at a camp at Wings Gymnastics Academy. Coach Nick Mayer and the HHS girls basketball team hosted 75 elementary-age girls for camps at Endeavor and Horizon Elementary Schools and at the high school. Coach Scott Langerock and the HHS boys basketball team hosted 200 elementary-age boys at Explorer and Endeavor Elementary and at the high school. Coach Aylward said gymnastics campers had the opportunity to practice skills on vault, bars, beam, floor and trampoline. “We focused on skills and drills as well as taking turns, listening while the coach is speaking, and working together. Both the high school student coaches and the campers had a great time!”
