Our information and advice The Age Scotland Helpline addresses the needs of older people facing new and challenging situations in their lives by providing information, friendship and advice to older people in Scotland, their carers and families. Many people are unfamiliar with the system of benefits, social care and support in later life. We provide impartial and confidential information to help people get what they are entitled to.
We are here to help All of our information guides are free. They can be accessed by calling our helpline or they can be downloaded from our website www.agescotland.org.uk. Large print versions are also available on request.
Fire Service Home Safety Check As part of their commitment to building a safer Scotland the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service offer everyone in Scotland a free home fire safety visit. They can also fit smoke alarms free of charge if your home requires them. If you would like a home safety check from the Fire Service, just call the Age Scotland Helpline on 0800 12 44 222 and we can arrange it for you.

Free benefits and entitlement checks Many of the people who contact our helpline have not been able to make financial provision for retirement and require information and advice about how to access their entitlements to benefits, help with care costs and other financial assistance. A confidential call to our independent freephone helpline gives you the opportunity to safely explore their potential entitlements and options.
