Aggie Greek Awards Honor Students and Chapters for Successes in 2023
The Aggie Greek Awards recently celebrated the exemplary achievements and contributions of Texas A&M University's fraternity and sorority community. This annual event highlighted the outstanding leadership, service, and academic excellence demonstrated by various Greek organizations and individual members throughout the year From recognizing chapters for their philanthropic endeavors to honoring advisors for their guidance and support, the Aggie Greek Awards served as a testament to the positive impact of Greek life on campus Notably, the event also spotlighted our unsung hero, Brigadier General Joe E Ramirez, Jr ‘79, the Vice President of Student Affairs, whose steadfast support and dedication behind the scenes have played a pivotal role in fostering a thriving Greek community. By fostering a culture of excellence and community engagement, these awards reaffirmed the commitment of Texas A&M's Greek community to upholding the university's values of leadership, scholarship, and service

The above chart highlights the top interests of our community’s advisors Last month, our Advisor Development Series focused on Legal and Ethical Understanding by bringing in Dylan Murray to discuss the Student Organization Accountability Board and its process This month we focused on Mentoring and Advising Skills. FSL encourages all advisors to participate in our survey so that we may gain a better perspective on what type programming our advisors are interested in

Frank North, Pharm.D., M.P.A. is an Instructional Assistant Professor in the Irma Lerma Rangel School of Pharmacy at Texas A&M University He serves as course coordinator for the Law and Ethics and Social and Behavioral Aspects of Patient Care courses with the Doctor of Pharmacy curriculum
Frank North, a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc currently serves as the collegiate advisor of two chapters: (1) Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc Nu Delta Delta and (2) Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc Nu Alpha Please join us in thanking and spotlighting Dr. North for his contribution our community.

Can’ts, Won’ts, and Don’t Know Hows: Identifying and Advising Students
On March 26th, Fraternity & Sorority Life hosted Valeria Barragan, Learning Specialist in the Texas A&M Athletics Department on our monthly advisor development session She works closely with student-athletes to ensure they are able to achieve their full academic potential and be equipped with necessary skills for success in and out of the classroom
Valeria discussed strategies for identifying and advising different types of students: "cants," "wonts," and "don't know hows " She underscored the need for personalized support in fostering student success. She also emphasized tailored instruction, building confidence, and understanding motivation as crucial to mentorship in educational settings
