future Lifestyle
Design 1 Concept After designing a concept apartment for the year of 2030. We analysed our proposal in more detail and chose to create a piece of furniture for the future that would integrate both private and common spaces providing users with various arangment options in their home.
-- Efficiency -- Adaptabilit -- Sustainability
The idea for this design came from the need to make spaces thaat were more efficient and
Efficiency.
According to researchers, modern trends and observation we can definitely say that this will be the word that will drive our future. As human beings we are in search of many things and efficiency has always been one of them. We want quicker ways to get where were going, faster ways to prepare food, better ways to do our jobs, sleep, play, etc.

EAT.
Mainly because of urbanization and family sizes decreasing, homes will become smaller, buildings will become higher and more productive, allowing people to grow their own food, cook, sleep, play, exercise and work in the same space. Even though spaces will be tighter it will still be important for designers to think of ways to include communal areas in their design (generous living and dining spaces) so people can still have the pleasure of inviting people over and gathering around food and games.

Because of smaller spaces and more addictive habbits increasing, keeping human interaction alive and well will be a key element in the future.
STORE.
SLEEP.
The Multifunctional closet was designed to allow people to eat, sleep and store all in one furniture. The idea is to allow people to reshape their apartment and modify the spaces they live in without needing to purchase separate pieces of furniture. Another key element of the concept was to create space for home gardening and bring life into the furniture byy providing a space for plants.

As designers our job it to create objects that make people live in a way they didn’t think was possible. Providing people with efficient objects that make everyday life easier without losing the familiarity of the past.

1 The pullout bed is located in the rear part
of the furniture behind a movable shelving system. When the user wished to pull out the bed the shelves will move upward with a hydraulic system. This system will be activated by a motion sensor which unlocks the bed that drops out into its horizontal position. The space was designed to hold a regular single size matress so that comfort will not be an issue.
The bedroom part of the furniture includes a pull out bed, drawers, closet hanging space and extra storage space.
The far left of the furniture will have a slot that holds a full size dining table that can be extacted on special occasions for larger gatherings. The table will fold out and the legs will fold out of the structure.
2 There are storage drawers below the bed
part that can store anything. The sides of drawers in this furniture are made out of 1cm clear policarbonate that will allow people to see what inside once they pull them out. The furniture system will also have led stips beside the storage spaces indicating if they are full or not and what kind of objects are in them. So that users don’t need to open a drawer to know its content.
the lower cubbords will store foldable chairs such as the ones designed by tierney hains. Users will be able to acces them easily and increase the seating space as wished.
The metal grid will guide the furniture allowing it to move along the grids and reshape the space according to what the users would like. the structure also will be used to support hanging plants and the lighting for the dinning room.
3 The smaller section of the furniture has
hanging space for clothes a drawer below and some shelf space. It also is able to move horixontally along the superior grids to make a private bedroom, closing the space from the living area.

The concept design for tihis furniture was to create an inovative piece of furniture that was also familiar to users. The idea for materials was to make the main structure out of wood and introduce some new technologies such as motion sensors, interactive glass and interactive led light strips. The grids are also multifunctional elements working as a support system and a place for vertical gardening.
Viw into Childs room The materials for the furniture were composite reflorested pine wood, glass, policarbonate plastic and a black iron structure. On the side of the furniture there will be an interactive pannels. These panels will be able to control the system of the furniture, where users can choose their floor plan, ajust the temperature, check the status of the plants. The Pine wood timber was chosen because they’re replaceable, fast-growing species and tend to be more sustainable than slow-growing trees like Oak.

Viw into Dining are and Kitchen
Inside the furniture there is space to accomodate a dining table and chairs to go with it. These chairs were chosen based on their ability to fold and maintain a lovely formal design, complementing the designed furniture.
