ZUBETS-ANDERSON
530 West 25th Street, New York, NY
Anna Zubets-Anderson is a contemporary artist originally from the former USSR, but currently living and working in the United States. Anna believes that every individual is a creative being, and that being creative is, first and foremost, a process of inner transformation that is accessible to everyone. Her art, therefore, aims to facilitate healing, both for herself and for her audience. Her goal is for each of her paintings to elevate a life or social issue that needs a resolution or deeper understanding. With a specific interest in representing the female form, her work often celebrates the freedom of female body and spirit, and stands in contrast to the way patriarchal culture has defined women for centuries.
Anna is deeply inspired by nature, which she sees as the greatest art of all. Her work, therefore, also aims to repair the rift between the modern psyche and the environment. Anna’s paintings often portray women in nature or in a mystical context, and her work is also strongly influenced by the themes of divine feminine, tarot, and Jungian archetypes.
She works in a variety of mediums depending on the feel and flow of the artwork. These include colored pencil, acrylic, oil, alkyd-based glass paint, and other mixed media techniques. She describes her process as “intuitive and playful…I let the art make itself and the symbols emerge.”
