Anne Chamness was born and raised in Indianapolis, IN, and studied Fine Arts and Art Education at Indiana University. She worked as an art teacher at a local elementary school in her hometown, which is when she began to explore her own artistic talents. Her work has been displayed in a few local galleries, but her true passion lies in creating gifts for special occasions, including weddings, graduations, a new home, etc. Anne works in both painting and photography, and draws inspiration from impressionist and contemporary art. However, her talents are not exclusive to fine art. She also restores houses with her family and is part of the process from start to finish. Similarly to her process in painting or photography, she sees the big picture, but focuses on the small details that make a piece of art beautiful. A truly dynamic creative, her imagination and artistic eye will take her far.

I am an optimist, hopeful and confident about the future. I believe that there is beauty all around us. However, we can only see it when we choose to slow down long enough to enjoy these ever fleeting moments. Photography was my first love and allowed me to begin capturing those precious moments. Spending much of my time photographing cityscapes, the countryside, and the intricate details of a single flower, has been a lesson in composition and color that I bring into my paintings. My paintings are created using mostly acrylics. They have a beautiful iridescence quality which allows the ever changing, natural light of a room to enhance and draw out its reflective qualities. My inspirations are rooted in my photography and a variety of artistic genres that have led me to paint paintings full of bold color with moments of abstraction and impressionism. Using floral imagery and wondrous landscapes I’m able to focus on the magnificence of a simple flower or the grandeur of the spacious depths of nature.
