Alan Lacke Cairo Alan Lacke Cairo’s art is based mainly on scientific information, mathematical laws, cosmic energies and history. In his plastic and canvas worlds, the Cuban artist elevates basic forms with vibrant colors. His employment of line and gesture, often seen through repeating patterns, are paramount to his constitution of harmony and order across his canvases. Color then becomes an instrument for sensation among his viewers intended to inspire contemplation. There is always a search for the essential in his work, of the spirit of things, and of what is beyond the surface. As he looks to develop his art career, his goal is to communicate a message of peace and optimism through his art. Cairo is a full time artist living and working in Havana, Cuba. Living in a country with scarce resources, finding the necessary means for creating is often difficult for the artist. He resourcefully creates handmade tools, and uses pigments that are well diluted, which lends to the aesthetic effect on his surfaces, but also is a protective measure to prolong the life of the materials. Of his work, Cairo states: “Ignorance is the cause of human suffering. I try to invite the viewer to a silent contemplation of an almost mystical sense of seeing the world, through geometric shapes, color and space.”

Emily Curtis Emily Curtis is a British artist specialising in acrylic and watercolour painting. Following a Diploma in Fine art from University of Arts London and a semester at Brighton University School of Painting, the young artist decided to take the path of a full-time painter. During her formal education, she developed an interest in landscape painting, from the tradition of the romantic and impressionist periods and the work of Turner. In her work, Curtis portrays atmosphere and emotion, often inspired by moments in nature and urban life. As she builds up her scenes with layers of glazed acrylic paints, she creates beautiful depth through the complex interplay of texture and vibrant color. Her works capture an instant in time on canvas, prolonging the moments that often feel too fleeting to be observed in everyday life. The impressionistic aspect of Curtis’s oeuvre encourages the imagination of the viewer to go beyond the physical reality of the work and immerse themselves in the scene. Curtis lives and works out of her Studio in Southampton, England. In addition to painting, she travels and plays the flute, activities which provide inspiration in the creation of her paintings

Garese French painter Garese is a traditionally trained artist with an impressive background and education in the fine arts. She studied at Les Beaux-arts de Bordeaux, then at ICART in Paris. She trained in both the traditional and decorative arts, which gives her the unique ability to draw in techniques from both disciplines. The combination of these two different approaches to art can be seen in her elegant handling of light and color to model the subjects of her paintings. Her work is a coherent thread between the worlds of today and the world of the past, and could most aptly be described as ‘timeless.’ Working exclusively in oil on linen, Garese creates paintings featuring portraiture, landscapes, and still-life work. She sources inspiration from the Old Masters, and specifically the artists John Singer Sargent, Henri Fantin-Latour, Joaquin Sorolla, and Gustav Klimt, as well as American Cinema from the 1950’s and 1960’s. She employs painting techniques from historical traditions among the decorative arts, including trompe l’oeil and other decorative techniques. She skillfully juxtaposes these historical technique with abstract elements, resulting in visually captivating and uniquely contemporary pieces. In doing this, she endeavors to bring new eyes to discover anew aspects of art and the world, which are too often forgotten among contemporary works today. From archetypal figures from the past, to the delicate use of light and detail in her subject’s costumes. In the same vein, her still lives and landscapes capture a serenity that is intended to contrast the fast paced, overcrowded world of today.

Bojko Jerman Slovenian artist Bojko Jerman works in the technique of silver engraving. He applies black paint on an aluminum plate, and uses a needle to engrave onto the surface. Because the lines are engraved in metal, they are luminous and reflect light, therefore the appearance is fluid and depends on the type and direction of light. The pieces are dynamic and seductive, with interesting and engaged surface textures. The process of creating his works requires extreme precision and steady hands, there is little room for mistakes, as they can’t be concealed. Jerman developed his original technique while studying architecture, a field in which he worked professionally until retirement. The artist uses his work to explore existential questions; he attempts to present a humanist contemplation of our purpose and mission in life. The most important element of his work is the viewer’s engagement with the content. He hopes they view it intimately and subjectively. His work is not simply ornamental, it requires participation and understanding, which he uses as an allegory for our responsibility to be active participants in our worlds.

Belle Roth Belle Roth explores human interconnection through her use of color, light, and architectural influences. Roth’s compositions are rooted in abstraction; deconstructed forms are unearthed and highlighted by both line and shape that coincide with shimmering gold, neutral color fields, and vibrant accent hues. In Roth’s Memphis, Tennessee studio, process and media are fortified by 20th-century abstract expressionist vernacular, and impressions from her Philippines upbringing, travels, and interactions with diverse cultures. Roth varies structures of golden noble metals and contrasting black that symbolize memories of the class divide she witnessed. Simultaneously, her work glistens with hopeful societal transformation. Her earth-toned color palette is reminiscent of sources from which building materials are mined and on which home and hearth stand. Layers of texturized acrylic, spray paint, and gold leaf are vigorously applied using different techniques, promoting participation in joyous unexplored opportunities. Roth measures powerful narratives of family, community, equality, overcoming adversity, and collective capabilities with hopes of sharing her perspective in the pursuit of a better world.

Bex Wilkinson Bex Wilkinson is a full time multimedia artist working predominantly in abstract and still life painting. The Chicago born multi-dimensional artist skillfully employs acrylic, pastel and gouache on canvas and paper to create both large and small scale pieces that are as informed and engaging. She explores emotional, political, and psychological content across her lively, striking pieces. Wilkinson’s formal art education began at The Art Institute of Chicago and Sarah Lawrence College in New York, where she received her BA. To further her studies, went on to study at the Rhode Island School of Design. She has found enduring influence from the German and French Expressionists, a group of artists whose works helped her express the paradox of what she observed as the human condition. Following the loss of a loved one to suicide, Wilkinson dove into themes of death and mortality. While her work often acknowledges difficult topics, the narrative never becomes stagnantly negative. Rather, her work is a search for beauty, growth, and occasionally humor, within the terror of grim circumstances
