Agora Gallery is pleased to present a collaborative artwork proposal for Obicà Mozzarella Bar Flatiron. Artwork from our recent collection has been thoughtfully curated to enhance the New York location’s urban-chic atmosphere and allure. This partnership weds Agora Gallery’s mission to promote contemporary artists and Obicà’s passion for artisanal atmosphere,

Since its inception, Obicà has placed a strong emphasis on aesthetics, making it a core element of its philosophy. With a focus on pure, warm details, Obicà creates a sense of integral well-being that complements its

Every Obicà location worldwide features a consistent visual identity through the use of natural materials like wood blocks, glass, iron, and, in the latest restaurants, brass, and concrete bricks, allowing for adaptation to diverse settings. Keeping these attributes in mind, we present the works by seven Agora Gallery artists for the Flatiron location, whose unique perspectives not only align with Obicà’s values, but also thread a collective story. Weaving balanced synergy with ambiance, this collection celebrates the parallels found in culinary arts and visual forms. Each art brings elevated design to the table, providing an overall experience that is pointedly dynamic and

Upon entering Obicà, we are greeted with Knar 4 by Soilart Jo-Dojoong. Soilart is a pioneer in the technique of using soil as a material in painting, making him the world leader in the style known as “Earth Painting.” The minerals in soil lend original colors to his works. and allow the work to shimmer when illuminated, creating an exquisite effect and impression. Through the medium itself, this piece gives a subtle nod to the beginnings of every fine dining experience.

Above the bar is Bangkok Day 5 by Belle Roth. Belle Roth explores human interconnection through her use of color, light, and architectural influences. The bar is the principal location for human interaction, and Belle’s signature “splishy splash” in red mimics and elevates the art of mixology.

Above the booths sits Gethsemane by Ronnie Genotti. Not unlike Obicà in NYC, Ronnie Genotti is an American artist with Italian roots. Gethsemane is a garden at the foot of the Mount of Olives in East Jerusalem- a place to pick ingredients, to gather as a community, and to eat food. Gethsemane sits above the largest booths in Obicà as a garden oasis, a beacon over the farm to table experience.

At Obicà, a sense of taste and style go hand in hand, and no artist speaks to this amalgamation of food and fashion better than Claudia Behrensen. Las Ocultas 1, 12, and 13 depict editorial glimpses into the farm, highlighting the restaurant’s connection to Milan and ability to fuse the palette with the eye, transcending the conventional boundaries between observer and art.

CHADWICK ARCINUE

Obicà is not only known for savory delicacies, and Earthscapes: Black Forest by Chadwick Arcinue is a symbol for that sweet taste of dessert. This abstract piece becomes not quite so abstract when approached, and the thick textural swipes of paint take over. Like mascarpone cream on the torta tenerina, this painting rests above the host’s stand as a welcome wink to patrons, sensorial, sweet.

The first of the final two pieces we see is visually the most simplistic, yet deeply rich amongst the collection. A set of six ink paintings in the Flowers of Peace series by Sempu Nakajima are a serene representation of flowers through calligraphy, as well as a thoughtful callback to Obicà’s foundation. Obicà was realized on a trip to Japan, when the founder was inspired by the beauty of sushi-making, a process wholly Japanese in and of itself, he was overwhelmed with the desire to create something purely Italian. Flowers of Peace is a unification of culture through authenticity and exemplifies the pureness that exists between foods, whether that be sushi or mozzarella.

Honey Peak, our second piece by Aigerim Bektayeva, is the final artwork in the collection. Above the intimate back dining room lays a woman in a field. This euphoric connection to nature is Obicà’s ultimate sensibility. We encourage viewers to embrace their unique qualities, fostering a profound love and appreciation for themselves and the world, mirroring the symbiotic relationship between bees, their queen, and the hive.
