A direct descendant of Prilidiano Pueyrredón, one of the founders of Argentinian painting, Patricia Pueyrredón has, quite literally, art flowing in her veins. More audacious than her ancestor, however, she ventures into the meanders of abstraction, building intricate constructions inspired by the Cubist and Futurist aesthetics. Pueyrredón’s kaleidoscopic mazes are energetic impressions of actual people or animals she encountered or emotions she felt at a particular time. Jazz in New York, Marrakech, Elephant Symphony are exotic tales of travels through time and space: a smoky Manhattan lounge, arabesque portals refracting endlessly in a house of mirrors, pachyderms floating in an opium-induced hallucination. Pueyrredón builds her stories through a concatenation of loops, cylinders, and polygonal shapes. The shapes are in constant motion. They contract and expand, rotating like the gear wheels of a watch. Caught in a trance, our eyes follow this hypnotic dance to infinity; down, down into the rabbit hole of illusion. Pueyrredón holds a Bachelor in Advertising from Universidad del Salvador. She studied ceramics and painting in Argentina for over a decade, taking classes with acclaimed local artists. During her three-year stay in Miami, she trained with Cuban painter José Grave de Peralta and is now a disciple of Argentinian artist Juan Carlos López. Her work was exhibited in Argentina, Uruguay, the UK, and the U.S. and appeared in D&D Diseño y Decoración and Para Ti Deco. Pueyrredón currently lives and works in Buenos Aires.

I found my truest expression in abstract art and oil painting, after a long experimentation with materials, styles, and techniques. Brushes, oils, and pencils allow me to convey the feelings or experiences that affect me in my daily life, travels, or relationship with people or animals. I draw all that I like and that impacts me in my sketchbooks. I then select my favorite drawing and transfer it to a large-size canvas, as I feel that my work needs ample breathing space to fully develop. Through a careful selection of colors and a well-studied composition, I create labyrinths of intersecting forms characterized by a strong contrast of light and shadow, which lends visual power to my work.
