PAULINA LEDZION
Paulina Ledzion’s acrylic paintings are abstract explorations of the invisible layers of reality. They reflect the painter’s fascination with science, namely particle physics, genetics, microorganisms, and energy as well as the mechanisms and phenomena that govern the universe. These themes serve as a basis for understanding the world and prompting questions about human existence, which she examines through the use of color, texture, and compositions.
Ledzion’s vibrant dynamic patterns can also act as powerful diaries, commenting on current social and political events. The artist often finds inspiration when participating in protests in Poland, such as those fighting for the rights of women. In Marginalization III for example, Ledzion’s furious markings represent the feeling of being lost in the crowd, our voice unheard by the powers that be, suffocated in a sea of chaos. By harnessing the breadth of her imagination, Ledzion offers a view from within and exposes the microscopic currents that maneuver this world, even though we cannot see them.
Ledzion earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design from the Warsaw School of Arts and is completing a Master’s Degree in Graphic Design from the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. She exhibited individually and collectively in Poland, Greece, and Portugal. Prior to pursuing a career in the arts, Ledzion studied piano for fourteen years. Ledzion lives and works in Warsaw, Poland.
PAULINA LEDZION ON Reef III, 2022 Acrylic on Canvas 31.5” x 25.5”As an artist, my greatest inspiration comes from the world of science. My paintings are abstract explorations of the reality that is invisible to the human eye and the phenomena that govern the universe, such as particles, energy, microorganisms, molecules, gravity, and sound waves. Imagination is a common denominator of art and science as the basis for understanding the world and seeking answers that are the source of all knowledge. I tackle these questions by building textures and compositions through the movement of color.
