SMOOTH PLANNING

Agriplant Solutions LTD

A

GRIPLANT SOLUTIONS Offers a bespoke service that enables drives, tracks and yards to be reconstructed at an extremely cost efficient price. The process recycles existing materials but also allows the addition of other materials. “PROBABLY THE MOST ECONOMICAL AND ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY METHOD OF DRIVE AND ROAD CONSTRUCTION.” STAGE ONE - SITE SURVEY The process starts with an on site survey with the client. At this stage we establish what the client wishes to achieve. With the clients requirements firmly in mind, the site is surveyed thoroughly in order to determine the quality and quantity of existing material. What we look for is a material that when crushed will provide a good mixture of larger aggregate for stability and a quantity of fines to bind the job together. In most cases the crushing process will provide a good blend of the required materials but where the natural stone or previously imported structure doesn’t allow we would suggest additional material incorporation. The drainage is also assessed as this is the KEY to the longevity of the work carried out. Where the drainage is inadequate we will propose any solutions to the client. After the full appraisal he cost and method statement is given to the client. STAGE TWO - SITE PREPARATION & IMPORTING MATERIAL (WHERE REQUIRED) As a general starting point any

non usable material is then cleared from the site ie grass and debris. Where the site is topsoil or general mud and muck this is scraped away allowing the natural stone beneath to become usable. At this stage we would dress the area with the added materials if they were being used. Often broken concrete and brick rubble are added simply to make the most of FREE WASTE DISPOSAL! Where we recommend the addition of other material to improve the structure of the road or carpark we can generally find people grateful to dispose of the demolition waste so they have NO TIPPING CHARGES and you receive FREE AGGREGATE. STAGE THREE - CRUSHING THE SITE The Crusher is put into work is is set by the operator to the correct work depth and the hydraulic doors adjusted in accordance to the processed aggregate size required. Following the first pass the material is assessed, if the processed product is not worked down sufficiently the grader will make another pass. On demolition by products the process may need repeating three times and in rare occasions more. STAGE FOUR - GRADING THE SITE Once ALL the composites are crushed and blended level and grading of the grading process is then started. Any remaining humps and hollows are evened. Passes are made from various different directions to ensure that the aggregate is uniform.

Tel: 07780 471481 | Email: vicky@agri-news.co.uk

In accordance with the information gathered from the initial site assessment, the grader is used to pitch the site relative to the drainage and site requirements. STAGE FIVE - COMPACTION OF THE SITE The site is then compacted with a vibrating roller or compaction plates. This will displace any air pockets trapped within and consolidates the aggregates solidly together. This methods allows traffic to use the road instantly STAGE SIX FINAL ASSESMENT AND SIGN OFF The finished result is outstanding and wear rates are proven to be durable. The surfaces will last anything from 5 to 10 years depending upon traffic. Using this method a drive could be reinstated up to 5 times over and it would still not cost the comparable cost of concrete or tarmac. IF THIS SERVICE IS OF INTEREST BUT YOU REQUIRE A LONGER LASTING SERVICE PLEASE SEE OUT CHEMICAL FIXING / GROUND STABILIZATION PAGE CHEMICALS CAN EASILY BE ADDED IN A LOW COST For more information please call Marcus on 07875 299669

Xcel 1250 Contractors Rear Discharge Spreader

B

uilding on the award winning success of the original machine the new second generation XCEL 1250 Rear Discharge Spreader is due to hit the UK in February 2013. With the invaluable feedback from our customers, our engineers and designers have implemented many tweaks and improvements to enhance the XCELs performance further. The new XCEL 1250 retains the patented and proven chain flail and spinning disc spreading system and has being refined to improve both the spread pattern and adjustability. The spreading system can handle a number of different materials including farmyard 6 | AGRINEWS | Issue 24 | October 2013

manure, chicken manure, compost and sludge. The chain flails allow a greater capability to handle foreign objects in the manure (stones, cement blocks etc.) than auger type machines. The XCEL gives a very even spread pattern in excess of 16 metres and 20 metres plus with some materials. The new machine uses marine type double floor chains to convey the manure and ensure an even feed to the spreading discs. The marine chain allows the XCEL 1250 to work very well with all material types, both wet material and very dry material and provide a steady flow of material to the flails and spinning discs. The XCEL 1250 is a high out-

put spreader and for our customers, downtime is not an option. Keeping this in mind our engineers have simplified the chain tensioning & hydraulic systems to ensure maintenance is quick and easy. The body sides are now curved; where as in the first generation machines they were angular. This increases the internal volume while also having the advantage of reduced chances of material bridging. The original XCEL 1250 has been popular with customers all over the world for its excellent spread and high output, the new generation XCEL 1250 builds on this success.

Farmers get power bonus with the new McCormick X50

F

our-model X50 Series with synchro or power shuttle transmissions Power outputs span 85hp to 113hp from new 3.4-litre Perkins engine Unique in class Power Plus engine boost for pto and transport work Livestock farmers in the market for a lively yard and field-work tractor will get a power bonus if they opt for the power shuttle version of the new McCormick X50 tractor. Three of the four models in the line-up spanning 85113hp have Power Plus, an electronic engine management system that releases additional power when operating a pto-driven implement or hauling a trailer, tanker or spreader on the road. “This is a unique feature on a tractor of this size,” points out Paul Wade, product specialist at McCormick distributor AgriArgo UK. “A farmer wanting a 95hp tractor will get that power with the McCormick X50.30 for jobs like cultivating and ploughing; but when it comes to operating a diet feeder or towing a muck spreader, he’ll have the performance of a tractor with 7% more power.” Add the increased torque, improved throttle response and better fuel economy provided by the all-new Perkins engine and the X50 Series adds up to highly attractive package underpinned by the reliability of its proven transmission. A refreshed cab interi-

or with new instrumentation that includes a fuel consumption read-out and other useful management data adds to the appeal of the newcomer. Standard specification of the power shuttle model also includes an air suspension seat, push-back pick-up hitch, true all-wheel braking and locking front axle diff. The X50 Series replaces the T-Max models in the McCormick line-up. Synchro shuttle versions with a 24x12 transmission, dry clutch and mechanical rear lift control have maximum power outputs of 85hp, 95hp, 102hp and 113hp. Opting for the versatile hydraulic power shuttle transmission brings a durable wet clutch installation with gear lever-mounted declutch button, Bosch electronic rear lift and draft control, and an air seat in the cab. With this specification, power outputs for draft work are 88hp, 95hp and 105hp for the first three models, rising to 95hp, 102hp and 113hp for pto implement and transport operations when Power Plus automatically engages. The range-topping X50.50 has 113hp on tap for all situations. The McCormick X50 is the first tractor to use the all-new Perkins 854E-E34TA compact four-cylinder diesel engine. This 3.4-litre unit may have a smaller swept volume than the 4.4-litre Perkins 1104 series engine used in the McCormick

Tel: 07780 471481 | Email: vicky@agri-news.co.uk

TMax but that certainly does not put the newcomer at a disadvantage. “The high density power and torque output of this efficient engine makes the X50 a lively performer,” says Paul Wade. “You only have to look at the torque figures for the 113hp version to see that it’s more than a match for the previous engine.” With a peak output of 450Nm, the new Perkins unit has a 9% torque advantage at lower revs compared with the engine it replaces; yet Perkins engineers also report typical fuel savings of 8%. Both advances come from improvements in combustion efficiency achieved to help meet the Euro Stage 3B / US Tier 4i emissions rules. In addition, an electronically-controlled fuel injection system with high pressure common rail distribution to the injectors provides precise metering and fine atomisation to achieve as clean a burn as possible. The process of meeting emissions limits is completed by passing the exhaust gases through a particulate filter and oxidation catalyst contained in a single housing and installed neatly beneath the hood – another advantage of the new engine’s compact size. The filter, which removes at least 90% of all ‘soot’ particles, is self-cleaning under normal operating cycles.

New Holland Renews Support of ‘Kids of Africa’ in Uganda

N

ew Holland Agriculture and importer CMC jointly donated a second tractor to ‘Kids of Africa’, a Ugandan nonprofit organization dedicated to raising and educating children without a family, to help them achieve a high degree of food self-sufficiency through the mechanization of their farming activities. KAMPALA, Uganda – (August 8, 2013) – New Holland Agriculture and its distributor in Uganda, Cooper Motor Corporation Ltd (CMC), jointly donated today a TT55 tractor to the ‘Kids of Africa’ nonprofit organization. CMC will also donate training and technical support. The tractor was handed over during a ceremony attended by H.E. (Mrs.) Janet K. Museveni First lady and Minister for Karamoja Affairs, top Government officials, New Holland Agriculture Africa Business Manager, Mr Marco Raimondo, the children of ‘Kids of Africa’, their caregivers and the organization’s staff, representatives of the local

councils, as well as the national broadcast and print media. Achieving food self-sufficiency with help from New Holland Today’s donation follows from the previous gift of a 3030 NX tractor in August 2009, as part of New Holland’s and CMC’s Corporate Social Responsibility programs, which aim to support the country’s social and economic development. The 3030 NX tractor has enabled ‘Kids of Africa’ to establish mixed farming on its land, with intensive vegetable production. This has helped the children’s village, home to 93 children and 50 members of staff, to achieve a high degree of food self-sufficiency. Since 2009 Kids of Africa have cleared and developed 10 acres within the village form organic vegetable farming, relying on drip irrigation. They have also hired 15 acres from a local church organization, which have been dedicated to the production of beans, maize and sunflowers.

They have done such an excellent job with the tractor that they have been ploughing and harrowing land for a growing number of neighboring farmers, providing assistance to the local community. The children of ‘Kids of Africa’ are growing up with first-hand knowledge of sustainable, mechanized farming practices. They are learning how they achieve good yields while preserving the

quality of the soil by preparing the land for planting with proper ploughing and harrowing followed with mixing into the soil of biological materials such as compost and manure from the village’s animal production. Sound farming practices for a sustainable future of Uganda’s agriculture.

The 2014 Can-Am Spyder RT roadster receives a new Rotax 1330 ACE in-line triple engine mated to a new six-speed transmission (available in manual and semi-automatic versions). BRP gave the Spyder RS line key updates to improve driver and

Nissan Wins Award

I

f you want a reliable, stylish and affordable used crossover, look no further than the Nissan Qashqai. That’s the verdict of What Car? magazine, which has just named the British-built family car Best SUV in its annual Used Car Awards for the third year running. Once again, the Qashqai saw off high quality competition to take the top spot, and confirmed its status as the best-value compact crossover on the market. What Car? judges praised the Qashqai’s intelligent design, five star EuroNCAP safety rating and exceptional affordability, with editor-in-chief, Chas Hallett com-

menting: “For the third year running, the Qashqai wins the used SUV category. Motorists love its chunky looks, visibility and safety features. It’s really a small family car in disguise.” The judging panel also highlighted the Qashqai’s strong reliability record, along with its high levels of in-car technology and standard equipment. Jim Wright, managing director of Nissan GB said: “The fact that the Qashqai is still winning important industry awards six years after its launch speaks volumes for its design and quality. The whole workforce is extremely proud of the Qashqai, and we’re thrilled

their hard work is continuing to be recognised.” Launched in 2007, the Qashqai is no stranger to awards ceremonies. It scooped 13 key industry titles in its first year and has become the most decorated British-built car ever. The UK-produced Qashqai has been a global success story for Nissan, selling over 1.8 million vehicles worldwide.

Qashqai wins Best SUV for third year in a row. What Car? rates Nissan’s crossover for its running costs, reliability and driveability. Continues the UK success story for the Sunderland-built family car. 26 | AGRINEWS | Issue 24 | October 2013
