A

comprehensive line-up of the latest farm tractors from the McCormick range will feature at a public Open Day being staged on Thursday, March 21 by leading machinery dealership P&D Engineering at its premises in Bredon, Gloucestershire. The event will mark the official opening of the company’s Country Store stocking animal feed and bedding alongside a range of tools, gardening items, water fittings, tapes, clothing and a whole lot more, in addition to a comprehensive stock of replacement parts for tractors and machinery. “We’ve had a tremendous response to the store from local people who keep animals or have a few acres of their own,” says Mike Pullin, managing director. “Having the extra space means we can stock a more diverse range of products that complement the agricultural equipment and machinery we’ve always sold.” In addition to McCormick tractors, P&D Engineering is a main dealer for Merlo telescopic

Livestock equipment from leading suppliers such as Ritchie Agricultural and LM Bateman & Co, and Logic implements and attachments for quad bikes and side-by-side ATVs are also part of the product mix, with displays from these suppliers also planned for the Open Day to give visitors a flavour of what is available. As far as the McCormick machines are concerned, Mike Pullin and his sales team Anthony Wilkes and Tim Pinney are looking forward to displaying tractors that represent a product range extending from 43hp compact tractors at one end of the scale to high performance field tractors up to 310hp at the other. Between those two, the range offers a wide choice of nimble, light-weight stockman’s tractors, mid-range machines for grassland and arable work,

and powerful contractors’ machines with a choice of transmissions and other features to suit all applications and user preferences. The new second-generation McCormick X5 Series tractors, for example, are available with 99hp, 107hp and 113hp outputs and numerous gear configurations that enable buyers to own a simple ‘mechanical’ tractor for lighter work or one with added features and refinements that enable the machine to perform better across a wide range of applications and make life easier for operators running up a fair few hours. “The McCormick range has been totally renewed in recent years, featuring modern fuel-efficient engines and highly-effective transmissions with multiple powershift speeds or smooth gear-free CVT technology to suit any user,” says Mike Pullin. “We’re looking forward to welcoming to our Open Day the local farmers and anyone else who runs a tractor or simply has land or animals to look after so that we can show them everything we have to offer.”

Beef farmers advised about the risks of straw impaction Cows dyinf from straw impaction which occurs when cows are fed rations containing mainly straw

S

traw impaction occurs when cows are fed rations containing mainly straw

Reports of cows dying from straw impaction highlights the risks associated with feeding straw-based rations to suckler cows. Beef farmers are being advised about the risks of straw impaction, which occurs when cows are fed rations containing mainly straw without sufficient protein supplementation. Feed then becomes blocked in the rumen. Currently forage is in limited supply across many farms, so some farmers are incorporating high levels of straw into dry suckler cow rations. Straw-based rations can be successful, but rely on the ration being supplemented to include other forages or feeds providing

8 | AgriNews

sufficient protein that is readily degradable in the rumen. Mary Vickers, Senior Beef Scientist at AHDB, is reminding farmers to check their rations, feeding arrangements and look out for the symptoms to avoid this problem in their herd. “The symptoms of straw impaction are low appetites and very solid dung. The rumen microbes simply don’t have enough protein to reproduce and ferment the feed in the rumen,” she said. Tips for successful straw-based diets • Ensure the overall diet contains at least 9% crude protein in the diet dry matter • Where feeding other forages, analyse these to ensure the complete diet meets overall protein requirements

• Include a supplementary source of protein if required e.g. rapeseed meal, distillers grains, or peas/beans • Make sure straw is clean and palatable • A straw-based diet is very dry, so ensure a plentiful supply of clean water • Ensure all cows have good access to the supplement and the straw • Mineral supplementation is important and needs to be suitable for suckler cow straw diets with good levels of trace elements and vitamins • As calving approaches consider adding silage with the straw to ensure cows have a smooth transition if they are on a silage based diet post-calving

Allflex appoints new livestock EiD product manager

Allflex, part of the Antelliq group of companies, has appointed Pete Hansford to the newly created role of product group manager viable manner. “With DEFRA looking to make EiD in livestock compulsory by as soon as 2020, Allflex is committed to providing cattle producers with the necessary help and advice to ensure they fully understand the implications of the proposed regulations and to help them conform to the new rules in the most cost-effective way,” Mr Hansford explains.

A

llflex, part of the Antelliq group of companies, has appointed Pete Hansford to the newly created role of product group manager for its range of livestock identification products. Based at Allflex’s UK headquarters in County Durham, Mr Hansford will oversee the company’s range of livestock identification products which includes Tissue Sampling Tags and Electronic Identification (EiD) tags as well as a wide array of own-brand and Agrident tag readers and Gallagher weighing equipment. A key part of Mr Hansford’s role will be to work alongside Allflex’s trade partners and to connect with livestock farmers to help them to understand how to get the maximum value from EiD technologies and how to conform to the Government’s impending EiD regulations in the most beneficial and financially

12 | AgriNews

“Embracing EiD to capture valuable data on an individual animal and herd-wide basis enables producers to make informed management decisions which will ultimately improve their herd’s performance and profitability. The first step is therefore for farmers to consider which EiD reading technology will best suit their specific needs and how to integrate this equipment into their current farming practices. With a long heritage in this sector, Allflex can play a lead role in supporting farmers to make the right choice to ensure their investment in EiD tags and stick readers works hard and provides the best solution for the long term.” Mr Hansford will also oversee Allflex’s range of Tissue Sampling Tags: “The successful eradication of diseases such as Bovine Viral Diarrhoea (BVD) is dependent on the ability to accurately and rapidly identify Persistently Infected (PI) animals and to isolate these animals before they can spread the disease to the rest of the herd. The simplest and most cost-

effective way of identifying infected animals is to use Tissue Sampling Tags (TSTs) as part of the normal tagging process for all newborn and recently purchased cattle. “We will therefore be working with the trade to connect with farmers to explain the benefits of tissue sampling and continue to work alongside industry initiatives such as the Gwaredu BVD scheme in Wales to promote best practice herd management strategies for successful disease prevention and eradication.” Pete joins Allflex following 18 months at Betafence UK (Sheffield) where he headed up the company’s agriculture division which manufactured a range of cattle, sheep and deer fencing. Prior to this he spent seven years at IAE (Industrial Agricultural Engineering), the UK’s leading manufacturer of livestock handling equipment based in Stoke-on-Trent. Here he was an Area Sales Manager with responsibility for key accounts and business development in the East of England and the Midlands. Pete joined IAE having spent a number of years with Gallagher Power Fence UK where he was an Area Manager with responsibility for key accounts and merchants stores. He also spent two years developing the market for the Gallagher range of EiD tag readers, load bars and weigh scales ahead of the Government’s legislation which made EiD compulsory in the sheep sector.

Herd, heifer and youngstock monitoring goes the full distance Allflex has added a new element to its SenseHubTM and Heatime PRO+ dairy, beef and youngstock monitoring systems

H

erd, heifer and youngstock monitoring goes the full distance with new virtual network from SenseHub Allflex has added a new element to its SenseHubTM and Heatime PRO+ dairy, beef and youngstock monitoring systems which allows animals on multiple farm units to be managed via one central system. The new MultiFarm VPN (Virtual Private Network) is ideal for businesses with multiple farm locations such as separate milking herds, heifer units and calf rearing units. It uses a secure, GDPR compliant internet connection to share and transfer data between up to 25 sites anywhere in the world, thereby enabling dairy and beef producers to monitor and manage their entire herd,

18 | AgriNews

groups or individual animals via one central interface. “MultiFarm VPN is the perfect bolt-on for businesses with multiple farm locations and for share-farming partnerships working across several sites,” explains Johnny Mackey, UK & I National Sales Manager for Allflex Livestock Intelligence. “The new feature enables herd managers to easily compare reproductive, health and nutritional data from animals based across multiple locations, and to benchmark the performance of each site. It can also help to identify trends and track changes at each individual site thereby helping to improve the management of groups of animals.” MultiFarm VPN also enables farm managers to remotely monitor and manage work

schedules, AI timings and staff interventions and can help to significantly minimise travel, tele-communication and administration costs. “And because animals can be relocated without having to have their SenseHub collars or ear tags reassigned, moving animals from one site to another is hassle-free and easy,” Mr Mackey adds. MultiFarm VPN is compatible with the latest SenseHub Dairy, SenseHub Beef, SenseHub Youngstock and Heatime PRO+ monitoring systems. It is easy to install and set-up thanks to its plugand-play design and is backed by Allflex’s comprehensive post-installation service and support package.

One farmer, Mark Hornbuckle, who runs an 460 cow organic farm in Nottinghamshire, has received £8,010 in the

“Whilst Arla supplies organic milk to McDonald’s, we recognise that as a supplier working with a farmer owned

Kuhn provides modern agriculture solutions at SIMA 2019

Technology to meet the needs of progressive UK farmers was in abundance across Kuhn’s SIMA 2019 stand in Paris

T

echnology to meet the needs of progressive UK farmers was in abundance across KUHN’s SIMA 2019 stand in Paris during the final week of February. Highlights included equipment for conservation agriculture, precision farming and renewable energy. TRIPLE DISC DRILL OFFERS VERSATILITY FOR MODERN SYSTEMS KUHN’s new AUROCK triple disc seed drill offering the capability to establish crops under cover, in minimum tillage or direct drilling conditions, provided one of the main highlights from the company at SIMA 2019. Targeting the growing conservation agriculture sector but with the versatility for wider applications, the AUROCK is launched in a six-metre format and will be available from the summer of 2019. With either single or dual metering options, it offers great versatility such as dual cropping or sowing one row in two with independently managed sowing depths. The AUROCK is an ISOBUS compatible machine, available with KUHN CCI 1200 or CCI 50 control terminals. SPRAYING TECHNOLOGY FOR A PRECISION

24 | AgriNews

APPROACH A range of new developments to enhance the accuracy and quality of agrochemical applications were featured by KUHN at SIMA 2019. Technology demonstrated on the METRIS 2 trailed sprayer included the company’s new AUTOSPRAY facility; the new LEA 3 aluminium boom; and BOOM ASSIST EXTREME.

applications.

AUTO-SPRAY; a precision spray system with smart nozzle technology to allow spraying over a range of operating speeds simply by setting droplet size and dose.

KUHN’s LSB 1290iD (intelligent-Density) baler incorporates the company’s patented TWINPACT plunger system to facilitate the increased force required to create higher density bales. In addition, driveline and transmission upgrades create further benefits, allowing a 200hp tractor to produce bales of over 500kg, creating economies in fuel use.

LEA 3 aluminium boom; allows nozzle spacing to be set at 25cm or 50cm intervals, offering the option of applications closer to the crop canopy to minimise drift and increase accuracy. BOOM ASSIST EXTREME; electronic boom management system to work in conjunction with other technologies to maximise accuracy of

HIGH DENSITY BALING The ability to produce large square bales with up to 25% higher density than conventional big bales is increasingly valuable in the transport and storage of crop residues, whether used for feed, bedding or as a renewable energy source.

The LSB 1290iD is fully ISOBUS compatible with an intuitive user interface; it can be controlled from an ISOBUS terminal on the tractor or via KUHN’s CCI 1200 or CCI 50

Power outputs peak at 99hp, 107hp and 113hp, with generous torque helping the tractors put in a lively performance. Having a variety of transmission options, including a choice of

mechanical shuttle with 12in dual clutch and power shuttle with wet clutch technology, makes it possible to equip the tractor ideally for different tasks, whether working predominantly on yard work with a loader or mainly engaged with field work, or a mixture of the two. As standard, the 5 Series tractors come with a 40kph Power Four synchro shuttle transmission providing 12 speeds in both directions. A creeper can be added for extra speeds or two-speed powershift with the T-Tronic version with giving 24x24 speeds, which is ideal for loader work, a creep version with 32x32 speeds is also available. With the power shuttle, the left hand fingertip control provides effort-free direction changes and a modulated clutch action that can be adjusted to deliver smooth take up of drive whatever the operating situation. It also brings smooth electrohydraulic operation of the pto wet disc clutch Finally, Eco 40kph may be chosen on powershift versions, which enables the tractor to cruise at lower engine speed for greater fuel economy. Loadall lifts french agricultural show’s top award

JCB’s newest telescopic handler for farmers has won one of the world’s top industry awards at a major french agricultural show

J

CB’s newest telescopic handler for farmers has won one of the world’s top industry awards at a major French agricultural show. The brand new Series III Loadall is making its international debut this week at the SIMA Show in Paris where it was named ‘Machine of the Year 2019.’ The success comes after an £8 million investment to develop a JCB Loadall which is 50% quieter, more spacious, more comfortable and has better visibility. JCB France MD Philippe Girard said: “To win the Machine of the Year Award at SIMA 2019 for the second time in two years is one of 26 | AgriNews

the high points of more than 40 years of manufacturing JCB Loadall telescopic handlers. The Award honours innovation and is decided by an independent panel of judges. This is a fantastic endorsement for JCB which continues to successfully bring innovative new products to market which keep us ahead of the competition.” The new Series III Loadall range has been named as Machine of the Year for 2019 in the handling equipment category. The competition honours the most innovative agricultural products and winners are decided by a jury of European journalists specialising in farm machinery. There are

17 categories including a publicvote award. More than 40 years ago the JCB Loadall telescopic handler introduced farmers to a revolution in mechanised materials handling. The latest Series III Loadall has been developed with the agricultural operator firmly in mind, with the all-new Command Plus cab which is quieter, wider and longer, with an improved driving position, controls that are easier to locate and use, and an instrument display that is larger and more informative. JCB’s AgriPro Loadall won Machine of the Year at SIMA in 2017 in the handling category.

Case IH Versum CVXDrive with Stage V engine and Quadtrac CVXDrive award

Case IH has long been a pioneer in CVT transmission technology, awarded for both its recently launched high power horse power range

C

ase IH’s Versum CVXDrive with Stage V engine and Quadtrac CVXDrive have won the 2019 Machine of the Year titles, respectively in the “mid-size” tractors and “XL” tractors categories, awarded at the biennial SIMA exhibition in Paris. Judged by a panel of European agricultural magazine editors, the accolades were given in recognition of the benefits of the proven continuously-variable transmission, a unique feature to Case IH, as well as the fuel efficiency and operating benefits brought to the articulated tracked tractor market. The prizes add to a run of awards won recently by Case IH which recognise the brand’s focus on innovative technological developments designed to help enhance the sustainability, productivity and profitability of farm businesses. They range from a bronze medal in the SIMA Innovation Awards for Case IH XPower digital weed control technology to the 2019 Tractor of the Year title for the Maxxum 145 ActiveDrive 8. The 4.5-litre turbocharged and intercooled engine in the four-model 100-130hp Versum tractor range, which meets EU Stage V emissions legislation by combining patented under-hood after-treatment technology with

a diesel oxidation catalyst and diesel exhaust fluid (AdBlue) injector in a compact all-inone package, drives through a standard CVXDrive continuouslyvariable transmission. Where large amounts of road travel or field tasks such as mowing, baling, light tillage and specialist operations where it may be beneficial to separate engine speed and forward speed are concerned, this has significant advantages. The CVXDrive transmission in the Versum range provides stepless travel up to 40 km/h, which can be attained at reduced engine rpm. The incorporation of double clutch technology means that, at the point it takes place, the change between the transmission’s two mechanical ranges is seamless, and full tractive power available across the whole speed range. An Active Hold Control feature allows the tractor to be easily stopped on hills and at road junctions without using the footbrakes. Versum CVXDrive tractors also feature Automatic Productivity Management (APM) this feature optimises the engine and transmission setting for either a target engine or forward speed set by the operator. Continuously-variable transmissions have never before been available in an articulated tracked tractor, and Case IH

remains the only manufacturer to offer CVT in this type of highhorsepower machine. The CVX transmission in the Quadtrac 470, 500 and 540 CVX models improves ease of use, particularly for inexperienced operators, accelerates faster to field or road speed, reduces operator fatigue, makes full power available at low ground speeds for special applications or implements. The transmission provides stepless travel from 0-43km/h, and 0-17km/h in reverse. It is possible to set three target speeds from 0-43km/h, and these are adjustable via the thumb-wheel and buttons on the Multicontroller joystick, part of the tractors’ Multicontroller armrest. Acceleration is boosted by a kick-down feature, while 40km/h is achieved at just 1,440rpm, to further enhance fuel economy. The transmission incorporates four mechanical ranges with automated rangechanging, changed without power interruption by four multi-plate wet clutch packs on the four planetary gear sets. Active Hold Control, where the hydrostatic motor eliminates the input speed from the engine, means the tractor, when brought to a halt on a hill, can remain static without the operator applying foot or hand brake. The Machine of the Year award is judged by journalists from across a number of international agricultural publications, who make their overall selection from 14 categories ranging tractors and other self-propelled equipment to implements.

Defra have no Brexit impact assessment for sheep farming

The government has been called out for “failing to safeguard the sector from the impact of Brexit” The government has not conducted any analysis of the potential impact of leaving the EU on British sheep farming, it has been revealed.

Sheep farmers have repeatedly highlighted their fear that the sector will be decimated if the UK leaves the EU with 'no deal'.

Defra has admitted, after a freedom of information (FoI) request, that it did not hold any information or documents relating to an assessment of the impact of Brexit on sheep farming.

The Liberal Democrats, which made the FoI request, has called out the government for “failing to safeguard the sector from the impact of Brexit.”

A response from the department added: “We can confirm that to the best of our knowledge the information is not held by another public authority.” The government has now been criticised for being “woefully irresponsible” following the revelation. Around a third of Wales’ lamb crop is exported each year, with 90% of that going to the EU. In Scotland, around 30% of its lambs are exported to Europe.

28 | AgriNews

The party's rural affairs spokesperson, Alistair Carmichael MP, said: “This response shows that they have no interest in or concern for the hill farmers and crofters whose businesses are the backbone of so many of our remote rural communities. “To run their business, farmers need certainty. They need to know what funding is available, what standards must be met and what tariffs need to be paid.” He added: “It is therefore appalling that Conservative

Ministers have failed to conduct an impact assessment on the impact of Brexit on sheep farming. These Ministers are woefully irresponsible. Farmers deserve better.” A Defra spokesman said: “As a responsible government department, Defra is, of course, preparing for the possibility of no deal and there is significant work underway to ensure that UK exporters can maintain access to EU markets after March 2019. “We are in close contact with representatives of all the farming sectors, including sheep, and looking at the range of possible options in the event of the UK leaving the EU without a trade deal.” The revelation follows news of the NFU recently saying how it is 'unacceptable' for farm businesses to remain in constant political uncertainty.

Amazone group turnover climbs to record level

Amazone turnover increases significantly despite the drought that affected some countries in the second half of the year

T

he turnover increased to a record level of 481 Million Euros. In comparison to the previous year (457 Million Euros), this represented a growth in turnover of 5.3 %. Amazone benefitted from its strong competitive position in the important export markets. With an export share of about 80 %, business levels in Germany, Great Britain, France, Japan, Spain, Hungary and Ireland developed very positively. Also in the important agricultural machinery markets of Poland and Russia, turnover remained stable in 2018. For 2019, about 1,900 people in total, among them 130 trainees, are employed at Amazone including the new site in Bramsche and the subsidiary, Schmotzer Hacktechnik, taken over at the turn of the year; the company invested more than 7 % of the turnover in the research and development sector. Investment in tangible fixed assets exceeded 20 Million Euros. course of success due to its innovative strength and its wide offering for all farm sizes. "The good result for sales in 2018 shows that our numerous innovations, introduced at Agritechnica 2017, and the intensified cooperation with our sales partners involved in the marketing of those innovations found a very positive response from the end users. The significantly expanded plough programme, created by the purchase of the plough factory from Vogel & Noot, has been proven in practical terms and was quick to establish itself in the market.

targeted at farmers and agricultural contractors.” “With 2019 being an Agritechnica year, we will, through developments across the entire range, pay special attention not only to the larger machines but, in the same way, find innovative solutions for smaller and medium sized working widths. Particularly in crop protection and fertilisation, the trend is heading towards even more precision irrespective of the machine size, “ Expansion of the factory sites As the most important event with regard to the expansion of the Amazone factories, the first new building at the newly founded Bramsche site was inaugurated in November, 2018. With, in total, an area of 24 hectares, Amazone has, as the first step, built assembly and storage halls with a floor area of 16,000 m² and an administration building. The amount invested in this building project amounts to about 16 million Euros. The new factory was designed as a factory of ‘short distances’ for the production of large machinery and with many levels of optional equipment.

With additional innovations and the take-over of the hoeing equipment from Schmotzer, we will further expand our position as the specialist for intelligent crop production. The combination of the hoeing technology with liquid fertilisation and the targeted or selective crop protection application in the same operational pass in future means the practice opens further possibilities for the optimisation of arable farming. Grocery growth steady as Brexit deadline looms

As Brexit uncertainty intensifies customers start their preparations for a disorderly exit

A

s Brexit uncertainty intensifies and some customers start their preparations for a disorderly exit, the latest grocery market share figures, published today from Kantar Worldpanel, show year-on-year supermarket sales growth of 1.9% during the 12 weeks to 24 February 2019. Fraser McKevitt, head of retail and consumer insight at Kantar Worldpanel, said: “Despite one in ten shoppers saying they have started stockpiling groceries and a further 26% reporting that they are considering doing so, this has not been borne out in sales just yet. Overall grocery volumes rose by 1.2% in the 4 weeks to 24 February, no increase compared with recent months, and it’s worth noting that hard-to-stockpile fresh and chilled foods made up 39% of the value of the average British shopping basket.” Aldi was the only retailer to report double-digit growth during the past 12 weeks, increasing sales by 10.0%. Fraser McKevitt explains how Aldi capitalised on the most romantic day of the year: “In the past there may have been a bit of a stigma about treating your loved one from a discounter – that just isn’t the case anymore. Planning for the perfect date night, 32 | AgriNews

10% of the population bought chocolate, wine, steak, shellfish or a chilled dessert from Aldi during the week of Valentine’s Day, helping it increase market share by 0.6 percentage points to 7.6%.” Co-op attracted an additional 244,000 shoppers through its doors to help boost sales by 3.6% and increase its share of the total market to 5.9%. Visitors to the convenience retailer spent £13 million more on fruit, vegetables and salads and £10 million more on both dairy products and soft drinks compared with the same time last year. Asda and Sainsbury’s verdict pending Asda and Sainsbury’s now have a potential combined market share of 31.2% as they await the final CMA ruling on their proposed merger. Fraser McKevitt comments: “Asda continued its run of uninterrupted growth since April 2017, increasing sales by 1.0%. Own label lines at the supermarket continued to outperform brands and an increase in the number of online shopping trips helped boost growth overall. “Sainsbury’s sales fell by 1.0%, reducing its market share by 0.5 percentage points to 15.7%. Despite this, its premium Taste the Difference

range proved popular – sales rose 4% and the products found their way into a quarter of all Sainsbury’s shopping baskets.” Tesco, the country’s largest grocer, achieved growth of 1.3%, helped by customers buying 2% more items on each visit. Overall, Tesco’s market share fell by 0.2 percentage points to 27.7%. While Morrisons’ market share dropped slightly to 10.5%, sales were up 0.8%. Fraser McKevitt comments: “Morrisons sells 43% of its goods on promotion – a higher proportion than any other supermarket. However, the gap is closing – the supermarket sold £45 million less through deals than the same period a year ago.” Ocado and Waitrose share shoppers As Ocado’s new partnership with Marks & Spencer** was announced, confirming they will jointly supply the retailer’s products from 2020, sales at the online specialist rose by 3.4%, holding market share at 1.2%. Waitrose reported growth of 1.0%, its strongest performance since August 2018.

Robert Goodwill has been appointed as Minister of State for Agriculture He replaces George Eustice who resigned last week over the prime minister’s handling of Brexit, in particular the exit being postponed NFU President Minette Batters said: “I would like to congratulate Robert Goodwill on his appointment as the new Agriculture Minister and I am looking forward to working with him at such a critical time for Britain’s food and farming industry.

R

obert Goodwill has been appointed as Minister of State for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, replacing George Eustice who resigned last week over the prime minister’s handling of Brexit, in particular the possibility the UK’s exit could be postponed. Goodwill has been the MP for Scarborough and Whitby since 2005 and has had several other government roles including in the departments for transport, immigration and and children & families. Goodwill has been a farmer (since 1979) of 250 acres of land near Malton, which has been in his family since 1850. He has been the managing director of Mowthorpe since 1995, which offers environmentally friendly burials in the North Yorkshire countryside.

“I will be seeking a meeting with Mr Goodwill as a matter of priority to discuss the pressing issues currently facing farmers and growers, in particular the impact ongoing Brexit uncertainty is having on farm businesses and the need for Parliament to reach a deal with the EU, avoiding the devastating impacts of a nodeal Brexit. “This is a pivotal time for British farming. The Agriculture Bill currently going through Parliament presents an opportunity to shape agricultural policy for generations to come. I will be stressing to the Minister the importance of having food production at the heart of this new policy, alongside measures to protect and enhance our cherished countryside.

“British farmers and growers are ambitious, innovative and up for the challenge of the years ahead. We know that the public take great pride in British food and farming and that is something we have an opportunity to enhance as we move forward. “I look forward to meeting with the Minister at the earliest opportunity.”

ATVTrac chosen by TGB as official security supplier ATVTrac is delighted to agree terms with expanding ATV and offroad vehicle brand, TGB, receiving endorsement for its renowned tracking device, now available for fitment across the entire TGB range. Successfully proven in the motorcycle market, where theft is an ever increasing problem for owners, the same team turned their attention to the ATV and powersports market in 2012, bringing functions to the industry that were not previously available, setting the benchmark in the process. ATVTrac’s Rupert Archer Smith commented, “We are delighted to agree terms with TGB and very pleased to see them taking security so seriously. On top of the security element, we’ve worked hard to make ATVTrac a truly useful asset, enabling single users and large estate operators to make use of its additional functions too.” As well as Thatcham approved security that protects owner’s machines via GPS, GPRS and RF technology, ATVTrac utilises the same technology to keep workers and riders safe too, with handy functions like ATV Over, that can text or email a colleague or loved one,

should the ATV topple over with the ignition turned on. ATVTrac’s onboard technology is backed up by a Secure Operating Centre (SOC), who monitor movements 24/7, seven days a week, liaising with owners and police should a theft occur. TGB UK representative, Henry Maplethorpe, added, “Theft is an ever present threat for customers and so we were keen to offer a trusted solution. While there are many types of security product on the market, we believe that tracking is really the only effective solution. Having seen both the functionality and success of ATVTrac, with their wide-ranging experience in other sectors, we were delighted to agree terms with them.” ATVTrac has a recommended retail price of £332.50 + VAT, with the first year’s subscription included. Subsequent year subscription costs are £8.33+VAT per month via direct debit or as follows: 1 year – £82.50, 2 year – £149.17, 3 – year £190.83. ATVTrac has no other hidden costs, all text notifications and emails are included in the subscription cost. For further information please visit www.atvtrac. co.uk

Key features Stealth Installation All authorised ATVTrac dealers are trained to ensure that your unit is installed in the most covert location possible, giving the best levels of protection and adhering to Thatcham’s high security standards - it's essential.

Self Maintaining ATVTrac has its own internal battery, so it doesn’t rely solely on the machine’s own battery for power. If it detects a drop in the machine’s voltage, you’ll receive a helpful text to tell you so. The internal battery lasts for up to 30 days.

24-7 Operations Center Our secure operating centre doesn’t sleep, so you’re protected 24 hours a day, seven days a week. If the unthinkable happens, our team contact you via text, phone and email and then liaise directly with the authorities to pinpoint your machine.

Real-time Monitoring Once you’ve registered your ATVTrac unit you have total control, 24/7. Edit your details, add co-workers for notifications and even select the voltage threshold for receiving low battery notifications. Sending a lone-worker out on a remote job? Keep an eye on their location for peace of mind or send your nearest machine to the next job by monitoring more than one tracked machine on the app.
