RIVERPLATE DREAMS

The Riverplate Dreams: is a project that addresses two nations and two sculptors. Inspired by "the first International Prize winners of the “National Salon of Paris Academie des Beaux-Arts� in 1918: the sculptor Gonzalo Leguizamon Pondal (Argentine, 1890-1944) and the sculptor Jose LuizZorrilla de San Martin (Uruguayan 1891-1975). Casas here worked on affinities, similarities and points of junction between the work of two sculptors, and both countries (Argentina and Uruguay, part of the Riverplate River). Her work is the result of the deconstruct and reformulate of all this Riverplate Dreams. Awards & Art Exhibitions

LE CHEVAL SERIES Agustina Casas Sere-Leguizamon
The "Le Cheval" series is derived from an earlier work, "Pampa Horse," from her nationally acclaimed exhibition, "Riverplate Dreams (2012)." The early work showed graphic depictions of the bronze horse from the equestrian statue of Argentine President Julio Argentino Roca (1843-1914), sculpted by Uruguayan sculptor José Zorrilla of San Martin in 1941. The landmark monument, which stands today, symbolizes a controversial and haunting period of Argentina’s past. Under his reign, Roca was responsible for the extermination of more than 20,000 Mapuche Indians during the Campaña del Desierto (The Conquest of the Desert), a military campaign to establish Argentine dominance over Patagonia. The "Le Cheval" series is Casa’s attempt to reenvision the controversial landmark by forcing the viewer to focus on the beauty and strength of man’s most heroic, beastly companion. Serving man in war, mobility, productivity, agriculture, and development of all kinds, the Horse is one of the largest contributors to the enhancement of civilization and world freedom.

Throughout her work, Casas starts a vibrant and colorful dialogue between icons, history, society, socio-politics. She creates a new approach to concepts of iconography, pop culture, politics, history. Her work as a visual thinker is to estiumulate and inspire the mind and emotional system of the human being to reflect and become more aware about the new vs old values of our era. Casas uses the tools of technology and contemporary society, creating sculptures and paintings whose beauty and intensity offer the viewer insight into art that reflects of the normal understanding of those domains.

ARTIST PROFILE AGUSTINA CASAS SERE-LEGUIZAMON
(b. June 23, 1984) is an international award-winning artist. Her groundbreaking digital art collection, "Ensueños Rioplatenses," was declared a "National Work" and she a "Young Iconic Artist" by the government of Uruguay, the highest artistic honor awarded by that nation (analogous to the prestigious United States National Medal of Arts). Casas was also officially declared a "Young Leader in Latin America" by the Washington, D.C.-based InterAmerican Development Bank (IBD). Her work has been exhibited across the globe, including as part of the Queen of the Netherlands and Tom Freston private Art Collections. Also international companies as Google's Project for New Media in New York and in private commissions and exhibitions by Fortune 500 companies, such as Fiat (2013) and Goodyear (2014).
