Welcome from Mayor Chris Spearman Howdy Everyone! On behalf of Lethbridge City Council, it is my pleasure to welcome one and all to the 120th edition of Whoop-Up Days Family Festival 2017! Since 1897, the summer fair has been a grand tradition in southern Alberta. Today, Whoop-Up Days is a citywide celebration that kicks off with the colourful parade and brings the whole community together for five full days of big fun! Exhibition Park is the centre of excitement with the dazzling midway, fun fair food, special attractions and a dynamic entertainment line-up. Come out and enjoy the Can-Am Bucking & Barrels Pro Challenge Rodeo, concerts on the Gas King Stage and Sik-Ooh-Kotoki Tipi Village. For families, don’t forget, kids 10 and under are admitted to the grounds free everyday! Lethbridge businesses and organizations are ready to get you in a Whoop-Up frame of mind, serving up pancakes, hotdogs and burgers throughout the city all week. Leave the cooking to some else and come out to capture the Whoop-Up spirit! I would like to congratulate the Exhibition Park Board of Directors, staff, partners, exhibitors and especially the many volunteers for their commitment to our community and ensuring that the Whoop-Up Days tradition continues. See you at The Ex! Chris Spearman, Mayor

RACHEL NICOL

HEATHER STEACY

Born and swam in Regina, Saskatchewan until I was eight. My family moved to Lethbridge and I swam with LASC from then until I left for university in Texas at the age of eighteen. I then swam at Southern Methodist University for four and a half years and moved back to Lethbridge to train for Olympic Trials in 2016 after the completion of my degree. During my swimming career I represented Canada at the Youth Olympic Games (2010), Pan American Game (2015), FINA LC World Championships (2015), Olympic Games (2016) and FINA SC World Championships (2016). I will also be representing Canada at the FINA LC World Championships in Budapest this summer (2017). While I was at SMU I received All-Conference Honors and AllAmerican Honors for my swimming performances. She made her Olympic debut at London 2012 where she was joined on the team by older brother Jim. She returned to the Games at Rio 2016. She first represented Canada at the 2005 IAAF World Youth Championships before winning bronze at the 2007 Pan American Junior Championships. She captured hammer throw gold at the 2009 Canada Games. Steacy was the Canadian champion in 2010, 2011 and 2012. She won bronze at the 2015 Canadian Championships after placing fourth in 2014 and second in 2013. In 2011 she represented Canada at both the IAAF World Championships and the Summer Universiade. In her Pan Am Games debut at Toronto 2015, Steacy faulted on all three of her attempts, recording no measurement.

ASHLEY STEACY

ZACK MCALLISTER

She began playing rugby in grade 10 and went on to graduate from Lethbridge Collegiate Institute in Lethbridge, Alberta. Steacy is athree-time Canadian Interuniversity Sport champion, she was also a two-time CIS Player of the Year after earning her undergrad at the University of Lethbridge. In 2007, Steacy received her first cap with both Canada’s Women’s Sevens and Fifteens Teams. Since then, she has performed on some of the biggest stages in rugby. In 2009, she was named to Canada’s team for the Women’s Rugby World Cup Sevens. In 2010, she was with the fifteens team participating in the Women’s Rugby World Cup and in 2013 she won a silver medal playing in her second Women’s Rugby World Cup Sevens. After coming back from shoulder surgery in 2014, Steacy was named to the 2014-15 World Rugby Women’s Sevens World Series Dream Team and was named Rugby Canada’s Women’s Sevens Player of the Year for 2014. Steacy went on to help Canada win gold at the 2015 Pan Am Games in Toronto where she recorded two tries and nine of 13 conversion attempts for 28 points in the tournament. Steacy missed all of the 2015-16 Women’s Seven World Series season with a torn MCL and ACL however made it back just in time for the Olympics where her team won a Bronze medal.

Glorious Sons

With seven consecutive top-10 radio hits including their first #1“The Contender”, this band’s ascent in the world of Canadian music has been quick and well-deserved. The Sons were by all metrics, the most-played artist on Active Rock radio in 2015, entrenching them as the next generation of great rock to emerge from Canada. Vocalist/lyricist Brett Emmons is one of the strongest voices in rock, backed by a lush, loud and powerful soundtrack supplied by guitarist Jay Emmons, and the rhythm section comprised of Adam Paquette (Drums) & Chris Huot (Bass).

Steve Keenan is a Singer Songwriter/ Multi-instrumentalist from Lethbridge Alberta Canada. He first picked up the fiddle at age 5 after watching his grandfather play, and this is where the musical journey began… In 2004 after performing in several bands, Steve embarked on a Canadian tour which covered 5 provinces and over 120 shows. He has earned numerous recording credits as a session musician on various projects and in 2009, released an EP with the band Fat Baby Jake. Drawing from influences such as Lynyrd Skynyrd, Eric Clapton and Johnny Cash, the bands wide repertoire also includes several originals written by Keenan which range from blues to rock to southern country. This is a blues rock band you definitely don’t want to miss!

A multiple 2015 JUNO nominee, Moskaluke was also consecutively crowned the 2014, 2015 and 2016 Canadian Country Music Association® (CCMA®) Award™ Female Artist of the Year, the first resident of Saskatchewan in the history of the awards to achieve this title.

Theo Fleury & The Death Valley Rebels

Dory & the Weathermen

"My life is a country song." When Theo Fleury says that, it's hard to argue. From his small-town upbringing to the heights of hockey glory, from the depths of sexual abuse and alcoholism to his current health and happiness, the Canadian icon's 47 years come packed with enough triumph and tragedy to inspire not just a single song but an entire album. That's exactly what they've become. I Am Who I Am, out October 23 on eOne Music Canada, finds the NHL superstar, Olympic gold medal winner, best-selling author, motivational speaker and entrepreneur tackling a new game: Country singer-songwriter. “Let's get back to fiddles and steel guitars and accordions and honky-tonk pianos, but put our own stamp on it.”

Dory and The Weathermen have been together for nearly seven years. They have entertained at a variety of events in Lethbridge and across southern Alberta and play a mix of music including pop, rock and crossover country. For their work in helping to fundraise for local charities, they received the Communications Award from the Canadian Mental Health Association.
