Kris Versteeg, Stanley Cup Champion
Welcome to Whoop-Up Days Family Festival! On behalf of Exhibition Park’s Board of Directors, Management and Staff, we welcome friends, relatives and visitors from everywhere to the 2010 Whoop-Up Days Family Festival!
Kris Versteeg, born in Lethbridge, was drafted 134th overall in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft by the Boston Bruins. He played in the Western Hockey league for four years with the Lethbridge Hurricanes, Kamloops Blazers and Red Deer Rebels.
Twenty-two NEW events, attractions and activities, including Colin James Concert, the Live Shark Encounter plus Monster Trucks Mania have been added to this year’s program.
Versteeg made his professional debut, playing in the final 13 games of the 2005–06 season with Boston’s American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Providence Bruins. He remained with Providence for the beginning of 2006–07 before being traded by Boston in 2007, to the Chicago Blackhawks. He moved within the AHL to Chicago’s minor league affiliate, the Norfolk Admirals then played for the Rockford IceHogs in 2007–08, as Chicago switched its AHL affiliation. He made his NHL debut that season as he was called up for a total of 13 games, recording 2 goals and 2 assists.
There is something for everyone at the Whoop-Up Days Family Festival which is Southern Alberta’s largest entertainment event! We hope you will enjoy your experience at the Whoop-Up Days Family Festival, and as Exhibition Park has said for over 100 years, “See you at the Fair!”
On June 9, 2010, Versteeg won the Stanley Cup with the Chicago Blackhawks. On June 30, 2010, Versteeg was traded to the Toronto Maple Leafs.

The only travelling shark show welcomes
SHOWS: 3:00, 6:00 & 8:00 p.m. Daily One look into the eyes of a live shark and you will feel the heart pounding “awe and fascination” experienced by visitors. As young boys, Marco and Philip were fascinated by sharks and dreamed of having the first travelling live shark show. For years they studied, researched and experimented with the intricate filtration system that is used for the travelling 7000 gallon tank. You will see Shark Teeth, Shark Jaws of different sizes, photos and posters of many species and information on sharks. After watching the sharks for any aggressive behaviour, the diver will cautiously come in close contact with the animal that elicits more fear and fascination than any other creature in the sea.
