Effective January 1, 2014, the non-profit public-private partnership will begin doing business as the Healthcare Collaborative of Greater Columbus with a refined mission to transform healthcare delivery and value for all people in Greater Columbus through collaboration with consumers, providers, and purchasers.

“This evolution builds off our collaborative work in Greater Columbus over the past 10 years and provides improved clarity on our future direction., ” said Jeff Biehl, who remains in his role as President. “The Collaborative’s stakeholders – providers, purchasers, and consumers - are working on very tangible transformational efforts in the region. We appreciate our existing relationships and want to continue to expand on that work and bring greater value to the community through collaborative efforts.”

private and public sector leaders who represent consumer, purchaser and provider perspectives. Board Chair Ivery Foreman offered, “If we transform healthcare delivery and value for people in the Columbus community through collaboration with consumers, providers and purchasers we could (i) reduce the high cost of healthcare for everyone in our community, (ii) eliminate the episodic use of emergency rooms as medical homes, (ii) establish a healthcare system focused on disease prevention and wellness instead of “sick” care, and (iv) help consumers to be more informed about their healthcare decisions. “ Board Vice-chair Mike Stull added “When we transform delivery to improve health outcomes at a sustainable cost, we help people achieve a level of health that allows them to be their best at home, work and in the community. Every additional dollar we spend on ineffective health care comes at the expense of other important priorities – quality education for our kids, improved community infrastructure, take home pay that funds family vacations, etc… When we improve the value of health care, we stand to improve, directly or indirectly, all aspects of what makes living in Greater Columbus truly great.” Please click here for overview of our public-private partnership

Competitors and colleagues collaborate to share quality data and demonstrate meaningful use of health information technology We are coordinating a collaborative effort to advance primary care qualtity reporting in Greater Columbus. Based on nationally endorsed measures, the purpose of this initiative is to compile regional comparative quality data to:
Provide physicians and providers with access to accurate information to identify areas for quality improvement. Provide purchasers with access to accurate information about the quality of care in the local health care market. Measurements will not be publicly reported at this time.
