HCGC is coordinating regional activities to spread awareness and adoption of Choosing Wisely to help physicians, patients and other health care stakeholders in Greater Columbus think and talk about appropriate use of healthcare resources. What is Choosing Wisely? How can physicians and patients have the important conversations necessary to ensure the right care is delivered at the right time? Choosing Wisely aims to answer that question. Choosing Wisely is focused on encouraging physicians, patients and other health care stakeholders to think and talk about medical tests and procedures that may be unnecessary, and in some instances can cause harm. What makes Choosing Wisely different than previous attempts to advance evidence-based recommendations? Choosing Wisely evidence-based recommendations on appropriate care were developed by more than 60 medical specialty societies. The evidence-based recommendations are intended to help make wise decisions about the most appropriate care based on a patients’ individual situation. How can your organization get involved? A number of no-cost resources are available for organizations in Greater Columbus that wish to incorporate Choosing Wisely into their own communication campaigns. 
