WHAT: Choosing Wisely® encourages consumers, providers, and other healthcare stakeholders to think and talk about medical tests and procedures that may be unnecessary, and in some instances can cause harm. HOW: No-cost resources are available for public-private partners in Greater Columbus • Health/Wellness Assistance such as co-branded micro-sites, consumer materials, and communication tools • Clinical Decision Assistance to incorporate evidence-based guidelines into clinical pathways • Learning from national and regional best practices www.hcgc.org

What does your organization hope to impact by participating in this initiative? ďƒ˜ Empower through education more people* to have more meaningful conversations with one another about their healthcare. *defined to include clinicians as well as those they serve.
ďƒ˜ Identify and acknowledge clinicians in our network who integrate Choosing Wisely into how they offer care to all those they see.
What have we learned? That there is a dual of engagement strategies for clinicians and consumers. That we are a proportionate part of a larger community involved in developing means by which to support Choosing Wisely.
That the use of Choosing Wisely to deny or ration care is prohibited. That we are running a marathon, not a sprint.
What are our next steps? Develop action plans for both audiences Consumer

Increase awareness through microsites on website.
Need to maintain vigilance in awareness of what is occurring “out there” to increase likelihood of being able to complement it.
