AMMAN-JORDAN
El lissitzky Pavilion
Project Brief
T
he project is located in Amman, Jordan in an area called Abdoun which is a residential area. Abdoun is considered by many to be the most affluent district of the city and is located towards the south of the city, some of jordan’s most expensive real estate is located in the district. Abdoun is surrounded by numerous restaurants, cafés and stalls, and is a popular spot among amman’s youth. Abdoun mall, the first mall to open in Amman at the time of its opening, is also located in the district.Abdoun is neighbored by the districts of Deir ghbar, Sweifieh, Ras al ain, and Jabal
Amman. Abdoun bridge connects the 4th circle in Jabal Amman to the Abdoun circle and a highway continues through Abdoun and into south Amman.we were requested to design a gallery due to the lack of the artistic scene over there, the site is considered ideal for such a project. After a long process of researching potential artists, I came across suprematism art movement which is based on basic geometric forms, such as circles, squares, lines, and rectangles, painted in a limited range of colors. It was founded by Kazimir Malevich in Russia and announced in Malevich’s 1915 last futurist exhibition of paintings, in St. Petersburg, where he, alongside 13 other artists, exhibited 36 works in a similar style. the term suprematism refers to an abstract art based upon “the supremacy of pure artistic feeling” rather than on visual depiction of objects. and lissitzky was one of the leaders of this art, so I’ve come to choose el lissitzky proun g.b.a. 1923, because the sense of geometric simplicity of this artist’s work shows his complex personality and gives an expressive composition.

WADI RUM-JORDAN
The New Siq
Project Brief
A
Nabataean path derived from the history of the Nabataens, located in Wadi Rum. Wadi Rum is a valley cut into the sandstone and granite rock in southern Jordan 60 km to the east of Aqaba; it is the largest wadi in Jordan. Since prehistoric times, many human cultures have inhabited Wadi Rum, with many cultures–including the Nabataeans– leaving their mark in the form of petroglyphs, inscriptions, and temples. Stating anew architecture through the scope of land art and adopting its doctrine on utilizing the expanse of art and the nature of a site through
what comprises it there from rocks, soil, and finally the astronomical sky (an element that had always been of significance for past civilisations). To achieve this new connection is to look within the study area for a site that backs such ideas and allows a reinterpretation of the nabataean architecture for the duality it holds (architecture and land art) interchangeably. Part of the ungoverned hills of wadi rum were selected based on the criterion to carry out this study of nabataean civilisation and its settlements, where these hills were found to be positioned on a long path connecting three settlements of the civilisation: Al-ʿUla (tombs city) in north saudi arabia to petra (city of science) through wadi rum (the spiritual city). A plateau-hill in wadi rum was picked for a museum to be the link between all three cities to exhibit land art, architecture, and the nabataean journey of science, faith/worship, and death. The tripartite museum is inspired by the siq of petra, with angles that direct users to inform them of the other two cities, each part educating the users on what each city represents.
