PORTSAID PHILHARMONIE I started this project with an ultimate curiosity of how contemporary Egyptian architecture should look like. How can the architecure of a cultural place reflect the cultural life of Egyptian people. This curiosity led me to the theory of phenomenology in architecture and how it’s very different from the aesthetics theory. A discovery that made me realize that it’s not just about how the building should look like but it’s about the collection of sensory experience that the user undergo throughout his journey. My Graduation project was about designing an opera house and a full cultural center inside a larger plan of developing the waterfront of PortFouad.

Documentation Project of
SIMON ARZT This project gave us the opportunity to explore the idea of heritage preservation and pushing further to the extent of having an identical digital copy of heritage that’s ready to be well studied and preserved. SimonArzt was a succesful case study that may inspire further heritage redevelopment projects in PortSaid.

Once the most famous and exclusive department store in Port Said, and arguably Egypt, Simon Arzt was well known for its fine imported goods and wealthy clientele. The iconic Simon Arzt department store covered 2,000 square metres over two galleries and had a grand glass ceiling for natural light. The exterior of the building, also a great example of Art Deco design, had a street facade running 40 metres along Palestine street.

Documentation Process The main objective of the documentation process is to conduct an architectural and condition assessment of SimonArzt Building. To ensure the precision of the restoration and development process, a very accurate and detailed information must be acquired throughout the documentation. We investigated advanced techniques that can produce the desired outcome. LiDAR technology stood as the most reliable option. “LiDAR: a surveying method that measures distance to a target by illuminating the target with laser light and measuring the reflected light with a sensor. Differences in laser return times and wavelengths can then be used to make digital 3D representations of the target.”

THE INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION OF

GWANGJU CITY MAIN LIBRARY This project was an internation competition held by the Korean administration. It required designing a public library in Gwangju city ,a city that is well known for its unique heritage and striking history, the design concept was based on some basic yet pivotal questions of what the characteristics of future libraries might be? My group and I belived in the importance of Interdisciplinarity in any educational institute. We believed that creativity thrive where disciplines collide. This belief shaped the design concept and the user experience inside the library.

Background
Scope of Work •
Traditional Architecture Korean hanok bring the natural world inside, allowing its human residents to coexist peacefully with nature. Another unique feature of hanok is its use of HANJI(traditional Korean paper) on every flat surface inside the home. Hanji was pasted on doors due to its excellent insulating capacity and its transparency. Hanji also adjusts humidity levels by absorbing excess moisture in the air.

Byeongsan Seowon Academy The seowon is the spiritual birthplace of the Korean intellectual, and the foundation from which scholars’ passion for learning and social justice grew and flourished. They were mostly constructed in quiet and secluded places where the focus was entirely on study and teaching students.

North-facing shell is split into two parts to emphasize the main entrance. southern shell is segmented into thin slices to permit sunlight coming from the east into the library.

2
The traditional form was exaggerated and two separated curved shells are constructed from the ground to the sky.
3
The north-facing shell is pushed back for more exposure to daylight. Also, the southern shell is shrunk to increase self-shading required to reduce direct sunlight. A glass box is extruded out of the shell to increase connectivity with nature.

05 INTERIOR DESIGNS I worked on multiple interior design projects, ranging from residential apartments to restraunts, shops and offices. My basic workflow starts with surveying the project for detailed dimensions. Then, I begin replanning areas to meet client’s needs then designing a moodboard that is suitable for the project and client’s preferences. A 3D model is built and rendered with appropriate materials and lighting. After that, a complete package of working sheets is produced for the contractor to begin construction phase.
Conceptual Restaurant This project was technically challenging as it consisted of complex materials, lighting and 3D models. The designer imagined a unique concept for the restaurant that is based on deluding users that the rough stone walls envelope a golden shiny core which creates an interesting texture and a dual feeling of luxury and authenticity.

Small Apartment With a total area of 40 sqm and bearing walls structural system, it was truly challenging to design and plan this small apartment specially with client’s needs in mind. Design relied on light colors and custom-made furniture to make the full use of the area. External view wasn’t great either, so i relied on building a comfortable interior space with the most amount of sunlight and ventillation.

Client loved the rustic style and had specific needs that required meticulous replanning of interior spaces. In this project, I tried to produce a complete package of working sheets which is made in a more graphical way and was written in Arabic to make it more readable for contractors and workers.

Brand Identity COLOR PALETTE DESIGN INSPIRATION This project was done for a fitness center called “Spartan Academy”. The logo design was inspired from the famous spartan shield. I picked a color palette that felt energetic and fun and I created various versions of the logo using this color palette. I designed two large posters that were needed for the interior space of the gym.

Split-Complementary Relation
The letter lambda , standing for Laconia or Lacedaemon, which was painted on the Spartans› shields, was first adopted in the 420s BC, and quickly became a widely known Spartan symbol. It is an «L», and it stood for Lacedaemonia, which is the region in which the city of Sparta is situated, making up the lower part of the Peloponnesian Peninsula.
