AS THE SITE IS IN KERALA, I’VE INCORPORATED MOST OF KERALA WAY OF THERAPEUTIC ARCHITECTURE. STARTING FROM THE ARCHITECTURE TO THE MATERIALS. KERALA ARCHITECTURE IS A KIND OF ARCHITECTURAL STYLE THAT IS MOSTLY FOUND IN INDIAN STATE OF KERALA AND ALL THE ARCHITECTURAL WONDERS OF KERALA STANDS OUT TO BE ULTIMATE TESTMONIALS FOR THE ANCIENT VISHWAKARMA STHAPATHIS OF KERALA. KERALA’S STYLE OF ARCHITECTURE IS UNIQUE IN INDIA, IN ITS STRIKING CONTRAST TO DRAVIDIAN ARCHITECTURE WHICH IS NORMALLY PRACTICED IN OTHER PARTS OF SOUTH INDIA. THE ARCHITECTURE OF KERALA HAS BEEN INFLUENCED BY DRAVIDIAN AND INDIAN VEDIC ARCHITECTURAL SCIENCE (VASTU SHASTRA) OVER TWO MILLENNIUM. THE TANTRASAMUCHAYA, THACHU-SHASTRA, MANUSHYALAYA-CHANDRIKA AND SILPARATNA ARE IMPORTANT ARCHITECTURAL SCIENCES, WHICH HAVE HAD A STRONG IMPACT IN KERALA ARCHITECTURE STYLE. THE MANUSHYALAYA-CHANDRIKA, A WORK DEVOTED TO DOMESTIC ARCHITECTURE IS ONE SUCH SCIENCE WHICH HAS ITS STRONG ROOTS IN KERALA.THE ARCHITECTURAL STYLE HAS EVOLVED FROM KERALA’S PECULIAR CLIMATE AND LONG HISTORY OF INFLUENCES OF ITS MAJOR MARITIME TRADING PARTNERS LIKE CHINESE, ARABS AND EUROPEANS.
THE MAIN CONCEPT OF THIS WHOLE PROJECT IS TO ACHIEVE THERAPEUTIC ARCHITECTURE. AS THE SITE IS IN KERALA, I’VE INCORPORATED MOST OF KERALA WAY OF THERAPEUTIC ARCHITECTURE. STARTING FROM THE ARCHITECTURE TO THE MATERIALS. ADVANTAGES OF THIS IS TO BRING IN THE SITE CONTEXT WHERE THERE IS A NATURAL WATER BODY ON ONE SIDE OF THE SITE. THIS WATER BODY IS FACED BY A LAND CONVERGING TOWARDS ONE POINT CREATING A BEAUTIFUL ANGLE.
WATER: OPEN COURTYARDS: COURTYARDS ARE ONE OF THE MOST ESSENTIAL FEATURE IN MOST OF THE KERALA HOUSES. WHY COURTYARDS PLAY AN IMPORTANT ROLE IN THERAPEUTIC ARCHTECTURE IS BECAUSE OF THE OPEN SPACES WHICH COULD ACTUALLY DISTRACT THEM AND IT ASLO PART OF KERALA ARCHITECUTRE. SO THIS WAS A BETTER IDEA TO BE INCORPORATE IN THIS DESIGN AND IT COULD ACTUALLY HELP IN THERAPHY. THIS SPACE CAN BE USED FOR MULTI PURPOSE LIKE YOGA, MEDITATION, EXERCISE AREA ETC. THIS SIMPLE CONCEPT OF BRINGIN IN NALUKETTU HOUSE TO GIVE THEM A HOMELY FEELING IS BROUGHT INTO THIS DESIGN PROCESS. NĀLUKETTU IS THE TRADITIONAL HOMESTEAD OF OLD THARAVADU WHERE MANY GENERATIONS OF A MATRILINEAL FAMILY LIVED. THESE TYPES OF BUILDINGS ARE TYPICALLY FOUND IN THE INDIAN STATE OF KERALA. THE TRADITIONAL ARCHITECTURE IS TYPICALLY A RECTANGULAR STRUCTURE WHERE FOUR HALLS ARE JOINED TOGETHER WITH A CENTRAL COURTYARD OPEN TO THE SKY. THE FOUR HALLS ON THE SIDES ARE NAMED VADAKKINI (NORTHERN BLOCK), PADINJATTINI (WESTERN BLOCK), KIZHAKKINI (EASTERN BLOCK) AND THEKKINI (SOUTHERN BLOCK)
WATER BODIES: AS WATER IS ONE OF THE BEST WAYS FOR THERAPHY, IVE INCORPORATED WATER BODIES INTO MY DESIGN, SO THEY CAN SIT AROUND IT. WATER HELPS IN GAINING INNER PEACE. IT GIVES A SERENE AND CALM ENVIRONMENT ADDING A PEACEFUL AMBIENCE TO THIS ARCHITECTURE. AS THE USERS HAVE TO BE KEPT IN AN AMBIENCE OF SUCH SORT, THEY HAVE TO BE DISTRACTED EASILY AND CLEARED OUT ALL KIND OF ADDICTIONS. A WATER CURE IN THE THERAPEUTIC SENSE IS A COURSE OF MEDICAL TREATMENT BY HYDROTHERAPY. ONE FORM OF WATER THERAPY, ADVOCATED BY SOME ALTERNATIVE MEDICINE PROPONENTS, IS THE CONSUMPTION OF A GUTFUL OF WATER UPON WAKING IN ORDER TO “CLEANSE THE BOWEL”. AQUATIC THERAPY IS A SPECIALIZED FORM OF PHYSICAL OR OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY. FOR YEARS, THERAPISTS HAVE REALIZED POSITIVE RESULTS WHEN APPLYING THIS WATER MODALITY TO A VARIETY OF PATIENT POPULATIONS. WATER HAS BEEN, AND STILL REMAINS, THE BEST ENVIRONMENT TO ACHIEVE FULL FUNCTION REGARDLESS OF THE INJURY. WATER IMPROVES MOTION AND FLEXIBILITY. WATER CURE IN THE THERAPEUTIC SENSE IS A COURSE OF MEDICAL TREATMENT BY HYDROTHERAPY. FOR YEARS, THERAPISTS HAVE REALIZED POSITIVE RESULTS WHEN APPLYING THIS WATER MODALITY TO A VARIETY OF PATIENT POPULATIONS.
A WATER CURE IN THE THERAPEUTIC SENSE IS A COURSE OF MEDICAL TREATMENT BY HYDROTHERAPY.ONE FORM OF WATER THERAPY, ADVOCATED BY SOME ALTERNATIVE MEDICINE PROPONENTS, IS THE CONSUMPTION OF A GUTFUL OF WATER UPON WAKING IN ORDER TO “CLEANSE THE BOWEL”. A LITRE TO A LITRE-AND-A-HALF IS THE COMMON AMOUNT INGESTED. THIS WATER THERAPY, ALSO KNOWN AS INDIAN, CHINESE, OR JAPANESE WATER THERAPY, IS CLAIMED TO HAVE A WIDE RANGE OF HEALTH BENEFITS, OR AT LEAST NO ADVERSE EFFECTS.. ADVOCATES OF WATER THERAPY CLAIM THAT APPLICATION OF WATER THERAPY AT FIRST WILL CAUSE MULTIPLE BOWEL MOVEMENTS UNTIL THE BODY ADJUSTS TO THE INCREASED AMOUNT OF FLUID. WHILE INGESTING ABOUT A LITRE-AND-A-HALF OF WATER IS GENERALLY CONSIDERED HARMLESS, EXCESSIVE CONSUMPTION OF WATER CAN LEAD TO WATER INTOXICATION, AN URGENT AND DANGEROUS MEDICAL CONDITION.
KINESTHETICS AND LANDSCAPING:

AS WATER IS ONE OF THE ESSENTIAL ELEMENTS FOR THERAPHY, AND GIVES A CALM AND SERENE ENVIRONTMENT, THE ZONING OF THE BUILDINGS STARTED FROM THE ANGULAR BANK OF THE RIVER. AS THE DORMS ARE THE MOST IMPORTANT SPACE FOR THE IN PATIENTS THE BASIC ZONING WAS TO SPILL OUT THESE SPACES NEARER TO THE REVIEW GIVING A BEAUTIFUL VIEW OF THE RIVER WHICH CAN HELPS THEM IN THERAPHY. THIS RIVER CAN GIVE A BEAUTIFUL AND SERENE WAY CURING AND DISTRACTION TO THEM. ZONING OF THE BUILDINGS ARE USUALLY SPACES DIVIDED BY COURTYARDS AND WATER BODIES. THE MAIN INTENTION IS TO NOT ONLY MAKE THE INPATIENTS ENJOY THESE FEATURES BUT ALSO THE OTHER STAFFS AND FAMILY. SO THEY GET TO ENJOY THESE FEATURES THIS IS HOW THE COMPLETE ZONING OF THE BUILDING.
THE SENSE OF MOVEMENT IN A SPACE, DERIVING FROM THE COMBINATION OF THE GREEK WORDS ‘KINISI’ AND ‘AISTHISI’ HAS BEEN SAID TO AFFECT THE WAY THE INDIVIDUAL REACTS TO THE BUILDING, HOW IT MARKS THEIR BEHAVIOUR, MOOD, HOW IT CREATES AND MAINTAINS A POSITIVE OR NEGATIVE ATTITUDE TO THE PARTICULAR SITUATION THEY ARE FACING. ARCHITECTURE CAN BECOME A STRONG DETERMINANT IN THE SUCCESSFUL KINESTHETICS OF INDIVIDUALS PARTICULARLY IN THE CASE OF PEOPLE WITH PSYCHOLOGICAL IMBALANCES SUCH AS DRUG ADDICTS, WHO HAVE JOINED THERAPEUTIC COMMUNITIES SEEKING TO REGAIN THE PEACE OF THEIR INNER SELF IN ORDER TO BUILD OR REGAIN THEIR SOCIAL IDENTITY. SO THE WAY THEY ARE ABLE TO PHYSICALLY INTERACT WITH THEIR SURROUNDINGS, THE KINESTHETICS OF HUMAN BODIES, CAN BE SAID TO BE DECISIVE IN HOW THEY ADAPT TO THEIR DAILY ROUTINE IN A GROUP COMMUNITY.
