“ Serendib Hotel ” lies in the Bentota beach , south coast of Srilanka inspired by the Dutch fort at Galle. Bawa designed it in the distinctive style of a Dutch village.

Findings: 1 Zoning: Major spaces accommodation and dining etc. facing to the beach at south and service spaces on street side (north) 2. Use of axis; a single cross axis proceeding from the entry across the courtyard, reception desk and continuing along a side of the dining /restaurant. 3. Creation of open air public room; introducing the lower room with covered verandas, the upper room open to the balconies. 4. Courtyards: Provided with tropical trees and grass. Open to sky approached the achievement of natural ventilation and illumination also prevents heat from entering- into the structure. 5. The Roof: The voids of the roof serves as balconies for upper f loor rooms and while creating shadow and light effect for lower oor west sunlight is prevented by planting coconut trees.
