BY ADAM K. RAYMOND // PHOTOGRAPHS BY JOHN LAWTON First Amazon released the Kindle. Then Barnes & Noble trotted out the Nook. Now Borders unveils the Alex, which takes e-readers to the next level. Like its predecessors, the Alex has an electronic paper screen, but unlike the Kindle and Nook, it also has an LCD touchscreen that runs Google Android software. Along with the regular e-book reading capabilities, the Alex uses a 3G connection or Wi-Fi to visit websites on the bottom and then push the text to the top, making everything easier on the eyes.
