Salon Sonar is a famous festival music in Barcelona, Spain and still one the most important annual events in the city. The project designed as one of sonar’s locations in the city. In this proposal, we got inspired by Sagrada Familia and other architectural masterpieces of Antoni Gaudi in the city of Barcelona. The proposed building located on the diagonal avenue “the main road in the city which is most accessible road in the city and close to Sagrada Familia. We had respect the existing urban pattern by designing the project in one of buildings gaps. The design approach relied on the integration of ancient legacy with the future technology to create an interactive space and a suitable platform for music.

Ahmed Al Badawy and Mahmoud Al Hakim • Teachers. Sandra Manninger and Matias Del Campo - SPAN The project started by exploring the artistic representation of a city in a comic book which led to wide range of different ways of perceiving cities and its urban qualities. The second part was researching into nature specially nuts and fruits by looking for inspiration through the different qualities. We have chosen the walnut. The external shell of the walnut was the main inspiration for us to develop our initial design methodology, further on more qualities appeared as we continued exploration through the nut. The project located infront of Gaudi’s famous Casa Milo, as the building is located in the heart of the city and on one of the major streets in Barcelona (passeig de gracia). The idea is to benefit from locating our project where people can interact and taste the art of place and the pavilion.

ECO-BRICK design is the smallest unit in the house structure. We experiment here a brick model with the use of recycled materials to simulate an ecological process contains water, soil and vegetation inside the brick. The model could be a basic element of a wall. Progressive enhancement is a powerful method in this design process with the use of Garbage city dwellers experience with materials and construction system. We open the discussion for further development and innovative/ cooperative solutions.

RCC VISION is a proposed model of self-sustained community for future urban development and an inspirational reference in the race of sustainability. For more than billion people live in informal urban, the issue is how we integrate them into future development process with respect to their social and urban composition. RCC is a form of productive community based on accurate self-organized recycling system and self-built economy. Human behaviour is a master key in this proposed urban and architectural development. The proposed upgrading opens the discussion about how spontaneous urban forms can inspire formal urban planning strategies and vision by observing its structure and growth. Therefore, raising the question of how the future intervention can achieve success through the development of self-organized communities depending on existing parameters?

House is central to family life and symbol of privacy, peace and meaningful relations. Human interactions with the built form of the dwelling are founded upon spatial meanings such as cues for behavior. The house unit plays a dual role of communicating the appropriate behaviors to employ and accommodating the behaviors. In this project, the design concept aimed to find connectivity, lightness and intimacy in the relation of spaces. Inspired by the client and his family interests, We employed semi-open internal gardens that act as outdoor spaces connected with nature and as indoor spaces the save their privacy. This balance between being isolated and connected is the equation that we are tackling in our private spaces.

At the heart of Dubai is Meydan One, the premier destination to live, work, play, dine and shop. Meydan One Dubai will help 83,000 residents access an enviable lifestyle supported by a wide range of amenities. In this project, inspirational location built the design concept on aspects like connectivity, efficiency and integration. The advantage of the location on the water canal raised the potentials of using the view as a main feature for residents and public. The design of the two towers afford all residential units a wide view to the water canal. While the towers’ podium welcoming pedestrians to be engaged with the site through different outdoor activities. Skypool is another feature that create a bridge of water between the two towers. Transparency and lightness give the skypool its unique experience for residents and afford them fly over the city.

SECOND FLOOR PLAN

Al Qamra Towers is located in the waterfront of lusail city viewing a group of attraction points and landmarks in the city and the adjacent districts. The Islamic culture and specially the Qatari traditions gives a high priority to the concept of privacy. In the design of Qamra towers we successfully could represent this concept in simple, modern and innovative form that emphasizes the privacy to the users of the building, though giving the freedom and openness to the outside of the building. The Twisted Column screen that covers the building’s facade is a modern resemblance of the old mashrabiya in the Arabic and Islamic culture, the columns someway performs the same way, but instead of using tiny detailed screen we used a giant twisted towers.

Accessibility to nature is the title that we converted it to an architectural concept and tangible meaning for Dubai sea house. Outdoor space has become a privilege for people, especially in recent years. The passage is a vital cut through project plot that merge house functions with natural features like plants, light, air and water. It is the way to open access to the sea front from plot entrance in very clear and explicit line. This path brings meanings of life into house spaces and attract human eye to the sea while walking through internal spaces and outdoor landscape

In the gulf region, the definition of the house takes its form through the use of several design principles such as high privacy, harmful weather protection, natural ventilation... etc. When there was no AC technology, courtyards was one of the tools to provide indirect lighting and ventilation, and the connection to the nature. Thinking of the user experience into the space was a clear goal for our design approach. The story starts from the moment when users or guests entering the plot. Our design concept adopts Internal-External design approach and design where people will live, eat, sleep, play, study and communicate. Thinking of space activities and understand the user needs inside the space was in our concern and a tool to provide users comfortable, balanced and magnificent user experience.

Shortlisted “Best 24/154 Projects” Date. 2022 Design Team. SKOON Architecture Location. Dammam, KSA Auspices. Abdullatif Al Fozan Award, AIA Middle East and Retal.

Since the time of Prophet Muhammad, the mosque was about the content before the container. A place for worship, meeting, learning, justice and social consultation. The mosque borrowed everything from nature to build the space. Inspiring by this pure mosque definition, we aimed to design a place for people where they feel spiritually treated , connected and get closer to the creator. Life outside the mosque is a full of noise, conflicts and events while the mosque should invites people for the moment when they calm, meditate and think. Using biophilic design approach, nature employed to deliver the message. Through the use of plants, natural light, traditional features and design for the memory, we aimed to stimulate users brain and soul. The design of users experience was the goal through the design of the path and the surrounding environment.

PRESTON MOSQUE

Inspired by mosque architecture, the proposed design of the new Preston mosque define a sequence of spaces according to different social and function aspects. From the main open platform around the minaret to prayer hall passing through the courtyard and Arweqa, we encourage community to meet, communicate and interact which is required to build the relation with the social context. Our design rely on specific design process that involve man, woman and kids into the design program, encourage the community to worship, socialize and learn, and provide social platforms. Islamic modern art play an important role in merging this language with one of context features which is the clay brick. By the manipulation of brick units, the composition of the mosque got its unique appearance and attraction to the community.

2 Submitted Proposals Date. 2021 Design Team. SKOON Architecture Location. Dubai, UAE Auspices. Dubai Expo 2020

GROUND FLOOR - RETAILS

Floating fountain is a proposed design for drinking water fountain that attract people to explore the beauty of water sound, light and movement. Through the simulation of floating volume of the fountain over a water bubbles tubes, the design introduces extraordinary image for Expo public spaces. The kinetic wall is another proposal and an abstract of old Sabeel wall by taking the advantages of the ancient design language and represent it through the use of technology and environmental design approach. Inspired by the beauty of traditional Islamic ornaments, we have the vision to merge layers of patterns, light, shadow, water and kinetic structure that inspire people to look through the wall and taste the beauty in a contemporary language that have the origins of the golden heritage. SCIENCE CITY - A COMPREHENSIVE MASTER PLAN • Award. Best Exhibited Projects • Date. 2016 • Design Team. GOZOUR Architecture and design studio • Location. Giza, Egypt. • Auspices. The international union of architects and Bibliotheca, Alexandrina, Egypt.

Science Ring is an expression for one of people behaviors when they need to communicate efficiently, learning/discussing specific topic and focusing on an object. The behavior appears in Muslims communities’ tradition as a way of learning in mosques when the mosque was presenting the first concept of schools and research centers. Science rings/ learning rings is the used expression through the history “still usable partially” in Islamic world and consider as an incubator of scientists and most efficient source for knowledge, decisions and different life aspects. In our proposal, we got inspired by the concept to achieve maximum communication between all science trends. The ring connect visually and functionally exhibitions, research centers and workshops in one loop for better communication and live conversation.

“KNOW THAT GOD GIVES LIFE TO THE EARTH AFTER ITS DEATH! INDEED WE HAVE MADE CLEAR THE SIGNS FOR YOU, IF YOU BUT UNDERSTAND” HOLY QURAN AL-HADID (57), VERSE NO. (17)

AL.MUALLA CEMETERY MURAL A MATTER OF LIFE AND DEATH • Award. First Prize • Date. 2010 • Design Team. GOZOUR Architecture and design studio • Location. Mecca, Saudi Arabia. • Auspices. The prince of Mecca, Saudi Arabia.

In the case of Al-Mualla, an interpretation of the concept of physical death will be naive. Because, this holy cemetery holds in its earth the remains of some of the greatest people who were defenders of humanistic values that humanity strives for now. This holy cemetery is crowned by the remains of our blessed mother Khadija. And holds the remains of the founders of the first Muslim society. So, given this site, we are dealing with a much more dangerous type of death; death of values and principles, death of a cultural movement. A death that’s been going around for a hundred years or so. Indeed this proposed design doesn’t try to capture an interpretation of death. On the contrary it tries to capture an interpretation of the inevitable life after death. And what better interpretation can one find than that of the Holy Quran.

DETAILED SECTION SHOWS PLANTING SYSTEM AND LIGTHING DESIGN

The design try to give the meaning of this verse a visual form. And to be fair, half of the job was already done for us by the magnificent natural rock formation with its apparent lifelessness, which we chose to represent death. All we had to do next is crack it, and show some life springing out of it…and so, there was Llight and Green.
