Facts about AIESEC Egypt

Climate .. Egypt is largely a desert, an extension of the great Sahara Desert that bands North Africa. Save for the thin strip of watered land along the river Nile, very little could survive here. As the ancient Greek philosopher Herodotus stated: "Egypt is the gift of the Nile".

Generally, dry and very hot summers with moderate winters - November through to March the

Major cities to visit.. Cairo : Cairo is the capital city of Egypt which is full of contrasts and one that never sleeps... believe it! Its entertainment is legion, its charms are beguiling, and its temptations are many. All year round, the city hums with activity. The museums, antiquities and Mosques are waiting for your visit. Cairo is the city of a thousand mosques. To the political journalist, it is the powerful center of the Arab world. To the tourist, it offers an incredible selection of ancient history, a deep rich culture and an amazing night.

Alexandria : The second largest city and the main port of Egypt, Alexandria was built by the Greek architects(332-331 BC) on the site of an old village, Rhakotis, at the orders of Alexander the Great. The city, immortalizing Alexander's name, quickly flourished into a prominent cultural, intellectual, political, and economic metropolis, the remains of which are still evident to this day. Alexandria lays north-west of the Nile delta and stretches along a narrow land strip between the Mediterranean Sea and Lake Mariut (Mareotis). It is linked to Cairo by two major highways and a railroad line. It is one of the most notable summer resorts in the Middle East, for, in addition to its temperate winters, its beaches, with white sands and magnificent scenery, stretch for 140 km along the Mediterranean Sea, from Abu Qir, in the east to Al-Alamein and Sidi Abdul Rahman, in the west.

Luxor : Luxor has often been called the world's greatest open air museum, as indeed it is and much more. The number and preservation of the monuments in the Luxor area are unparalleled anywhere else in the world that knows of.

Actually, what most

people think of as Luxor is really three different areas, consisting of the City of Luxor on the East side of the Nile, the town of Karnack just north of Luxor and Thebes, which the ancient Egyptians called Waset, which is on the west side of the Nile across from Luxor. To say that the Luxor area is a major attraction for tourists in Egypt would be an understatement. beginning

Red sea cities (Ain Hurghada-MersaAlam-Suez-Sharm Elsheikh)

Sukhna-El Gouna-

Egypt's Red Sea coast runs from the Gulf of Suez to the Sudanese border. Its mineral-rich red mountain ranges inspired the mariners of antiquity to name the sea Mare Rostrum, or the Red Sea. Here, you will find over 800 fish species, including the deadly stone -fish, the equally dangerous butterfly-fish, as well as surgeon fish, jellyfish such as the cassiopei, crabs that sometimes overrun the shore in the evening Sunbathers relax on white sand beaches, or find shade in the mangrove lagoons that line the coast, while snorkellers explore the reefs. And the underwater wonder of the Red Sea remains a living tapestry of vibrant corals and exotic fish, waiting for you to discover its secrets.

Visa & Documents : The Egyptian government doesn't have a visa for internships and there for interns are required to apply for a tourist visa and not a work visa .. According to the Egyptian law , in order for a non-Egyptian to work in Egypt there has to be a ratio of 1 foreigner per 1000 Egyptian worker . Since most of the NGOs and organizations that interns work in are small in size , it is IMPOSSIBLE for interns to get a work permit . It is also VERY IMPORTANT for interns not to claim that they are coming to work in the airport because they will not be holders of a work permit and thus might be considered as illegal immigrants.
