AHNAAN HASNAIN Interior Design Portfolio
Born in Kolkata, India, I remember the big shift we made from India to Dubai when I was in first grade, after which we made a move quite often. I was always excited for my new home and the whole process had me nervous yet fascinated. I recall being afraid that I would forget my home back in India and all those houses we had shifted to, so I would draw sketches of the plans; Guess those clueless drawings had led me to this field indirectly.
I am always thinking about adding and changing objects which would add meaning to the whole space. I’m constantly pushing myself out of my comfort zone and working towards learning and exposing myself to different things.

Derch is a bag designing company located in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Derch which is originally from Vietnam has a clear sense of its belonging and wants to preserve its cultures and traditions in its design.
The concept ‘Reviving Vietnam’ aims to create an interior space that traces back to the art and craftmanship of Vietnam and incorporates its elements to the present contemporary design. The project takes advantage of the materials from traditional Vietnam and in turn giving it a modern outlook for the Desino office space.
The design of the logo is pretty simple with the traditional straw hat inspired bag which also looks like a tag to showcase the retail aspect of the company. The colours are pretty muted and neutral to emphasise on the traditional cultures of the viets.

Al serkal Avenue is an industrial compound hosting warehouses in the industrial zone of Al quoz, in Dubai. The area is an arts and culture district for Dubai with line up of galleries, facilities and platforms, such as Al Serkal Avenue that houses residencies for local and global artists.
The clubhouse is a high end leisure and recreational space for the working population of the ages 15-60. The space would serve as getaway to gain new skills as well as improvise on skills of their interest. It would also be a place to socialize and meet new people of the same age group to share ideas and spend time with. The clubhouse will have fitness areas such as yoga/meditation rooms. It also has an indoor gardening space with artificial growth lights which would attract anyone with a soft corner for nature.
The design will tackle the challenge “to the future with everyone” by using unique and innovative design ideas that are accessible and innovative. By being a social clubhouse for the working age, the place will exude inspiration in the form of its interior design as well as the overall vibe of the space.

The site is located in Dubai, The united Arab Emirates..The hotel studio one is opposite the luxorious gated community of Dubai Motor City The cafe is located in a hotel namely, studio one;the targeted groups are the hotel guests, and the philosphy enthusiasts around the country really. the hotel has a swimming pool that can be incorporated into the space and enhance the feel exponentially .
name comes from the phenomenon of fog or haze that occurs in the atmostphere suring the winters, which is exciting and is celebratedn the UAE. Often such a phenonmenon is ignored and thought of as negative but it should be taken as a positive reminder about the mystery and oppurtunities that lie behind the blurry fog. The fog forms a blanket over cities making things disappear, but is it really covering or revealing?
The whole concept can depend on the individual viewing it. for some the fog can be exciting and mysterious; while for some it can be really upsetting or disheartening. well at the end it all comes down to perspective and mindset, But HAZ. would act as a place where people would come to see the better side of the fog which is usually overlooked. a place to see beyond and live at peace.

The café was overall divided into 3 main areas; the centre dining , the study and the sofa dining area for bigger groups. I have also given a meeting area near the counter which is more formal and has an open view of the centre structure.
This outdoor semi private seating was designed to give protection from the nearby pool and the scorching Dubai sun.

FASHION RETAIL DESIGN 4
A fashion retail store located in Dubai’s culture and man made heritage, Al Seef. This is where the old meets the new
Cant be caged est. in 2012 is a youth oriented brand falls in the mid range brands for fashion, the entire store represents a vibe targeted by taking elements from historical movements and combining it with the current pop/hype culture to create a unique sensation.
we designed the logo keeping meaning of the name in mind as the name states ”cant be caged” referring to mentality of not being bound, having no limits breaking ground and having the ability to think outside the box, live free and seek discomfort having a modern design and an energetic vibe to it along side some of its artworks, if so they could be translated as a design feature instead, aiding to the vibe that surrounds the brand.

The main concept behind the store was inspired by the name of the brand ‘CAN’T BE CAGED’, I had come up with a central structure which represents a cage with a spiral bag display around it to showcase some of the customized pieces on display
The main attraction of the deign of the whole store is the cave like structure which engulfs the clothes and canvases which are on display.
The façade of the store accurately captures the ideology of the brand where art meets the latest trend.

AMAZE Lighting
Concept board for an apartment design based on the clients likes and dislikes.
Concept board for an exhibition to display student works.
Amaze is an idea derived from ones true identity which often relies on their ‘print’ hence the idea of creating ‘A MAZE’ which would make you walk through an area of presentations leading towards the best design presentation. University is a time which truly makes an individual self aware and shape up to their best form, hence finding their true identity.
sketches
Concept board for a set, based on house of Gucci.
I created this architectural collage based on architect Daniel Libeskind; his initial inspiration came from crystals. I tried creating a collage with his building making them look like crystals on a rock. The background is an interpretation of his style of sketches, lines and open spaces.

designed this set of bed, side table and chest storage made with acacia wood and metal framework which is quite unique in its own way.
The bed has a sturdy frame with a simple headboard with an asymmetrical detail .
The side table has a hollow level with metal framing its structure. is simple yet interesting with three different kinds of storage and with the play of positives and negatives.

Conceptual sketches
The task here was to make 4 table top items with clay inspired by the “4 elements of earth” making all 4 of them look like a piece of a collection at the end..
I have used terracotta to represent land and the curvy structure from waves to connect all of my pieces together, while also showing other elements.
This candle holder is inspired by winds, the little speckles to show particles in air and the feather adds a little airy touch to the whole piece.
The initial idea came from the fluidity of water waves with the terracotta colour to represent land.
Inspired by the bark of the tree this planter has fluid lines that break the linearity of the trunk. Japanese technique of kintsugi is used to represent lightning.
This trinklet tray, the black ash effect shows the convergence of lava with land, the structure on the darker side represents a burned tree, which acts like a stand
OTHER ACHIEVEMENTSbest concept winner
I had participated in a competition where I had won the best concept for the theme of Dubai plan 2021, which led to the opportunity to live paint at THE DUBAI ART WEEK 2021.
I have worked on a piece that symbolises the themes of Dubai plan 2021 in an abstract way. It shows how its people are in an inclusive and cohesive society, and are creative and happy. People of different cultures and races are coexisting with harmony and respect for each other. Which is the first theme of Dubai plan 2021.
The map of UAE with the eye symbolises the compassionate government always looking out for its citizens and how Dubai has grabbed everyone’s attention in terms of a smart and developing city. The stairs depict the initial few steps of development that made Dubai the economy hub that it is today, the arrow emphasises this success.
The extended forehead string of the battoulah (traditional Arabic veil) represents the constraints that were casted upon a desert city by the world, that are being broken and Dubai is growing in all aspects while preserving its past and its traditions.
