Dear Friends, It is with sincere gratitude that I would like to thank our loyal alumnae, parents, Board members, faculty, staff, and friends for your continued generosity and financial support of Holy Names. In my seven years as a trustee, I have never been more enthusiastic about the bright future ahead. The impact of your gifts on students, faculty, and plans for the future is profound, far-reaching, and contagious. Every donation, no matter how large or small, is a blessing and affirmation of the mission created here 134 years ago. These gifts have paved the way and allow us to venture into a new era of excellence in education. As we welcome the 2018-2019 academic year, it is with great pride, promise, and conviction that I report we have successfully launched the “Invest. Inspire. Ignite.” Capital Campaign. This campaign, our first since 2001, is aimed squarely at empowering a future-focused vision and model for education. The implementation of this 2016 Board-adopted strategic initiative has been a large-scale cooperative effort by the Board of Trustees, school administration, faculty, trusted consultants, and of course the Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary. To all those constituents, I extend my heartfelt thanks for your time, counsel, and wisdom.
senior administration have worked closely with our campaign consultants to establish financial milestones based on widely accepted guidelines for successful campaigns. Early on, we adopted two goals that would need to be met prior to any public launch. First, we would strive for 100% Board participation with the goal of raising $1,000,000. Second, prior to the official launch, the “quiet phase” fundraising should account for at least 50% of the total campaign goal of $2,500,000. I am pleased to report we have achieved both milestones and emerge from the process unified in mission with great expectations for continued success.
Moving forward, it is important to recognize that we have undertaken this campaign well-positioned for growth: our educational program is thriving, enrollment is stable, and our financial position is solid. Now we seek to build on that foundation and create a modern educational environment that inspires and ignites. If all goes as planned, we anticipate breaking ground on our first two campaign initiatives in the spring of 2019. This timeline affords us the opportunity to move forward with care and purpose to ensure that this endeavor is a resounding success.
In the coming months, watch for campaign updates and news as we edge closer and closer to our final goal of $2,500,000. Once again, on behalf of the Board of Trustees, thank you for your prayers and continued confidence in our vision for the future. The impact of your generosity has forged a new path filled with exciting promise.
Although we are extremely grateful and pleased with our fundraising efforts to date, we also recognize that we are a long way from the finish line. The Board and
David H. Hayes Chair, Board of Trustees
Very truly yours,

Dear Friends, I had the privilege of joining Academy of the Holy Names this January as the Director of Institutional Advancement. As a Holy Names alumna, it has been wonderful to be back at such an exciting time for the school. Earlier this fall, we launched our Invest. Inspire. Ignite. Capital Campaign, with a goal of raising $2.5 million for reconstruction of the North Classroom Wing and safety improvements to the entryway and façade. Thank you to our donors who have already contributed to this campaign and for those to come. Your support for the Capital Campaign is an investment in our students, as we build an educational environment that inspires excellence and ignites an exciting future. For more information about the campaign, please go to page 26 or visit our website at www.ahns.org/capitalcampaign. Holy Names needs your support now more than ever to make this campaign a reality. I thank you in advance for your thoughtful consideration.
With gratitude,
Nora Loughney Ritinski ’05 Director of Institutional Advancement

The 2017-18 Annual Report includes all donations received from July 1, 2017 through June 30, 2018. It is our goal to accurately reflect the total giving of each donor who supports AHN. In this report, all gifts contributed from an individual or business have been totaled for a cumulative gift amount. For example, if an alumna gave to the Annual Fund, supported the Spring Gala as a sponsor, made a gift to GivingTuesday, and joined the Honorary Committee at the Partners in Education Scholarship Luncheon, all those gifts were added for a gift amount – and that alumna is listed on the Honor Roll of Donors at the appropriate gift society level as well as in the alphabetical list of alumnae donors. It should be noted that reservations, tickets, Mass card donations, and Capital Campaign contributions are not considered in the overall total amount of giving. Every effort has been made to ensure the accuracy of information presented in this report. Please accept our apology for any errors or omissions. Should you have any changes, corrections, or questions, please contact the Development Office at 518-438-7895 ext. 603.

My AHN education has had an incredible impact on my academic, professional and personal life. At AHN I had the opportunity to fulfill my potential as a student, an athlete, and a leader that I likely would not have had at a larger, co-ed school. I was able to speak my mind and be heard and I developed a lifelong love for learning that I am proud of. I brought the skills and character I built at AHN with me as I pursued my education and built a successful career in finance and accounting. My writing, leadership, and problem-solving skills have often set me apart from my colleagues. More important than my own professional success, I have been able to use my career to advocate for and mentor other women. Most importantly, my AHN education and the opportunities it has brought help me support my two daughters and raise them to be the type of learners, leaders and women of service that I was taught to be. The reason I support Holy Names is simple. I want to help ensure more young women have the opportunity of an AHN education that I was so lucky to have. Mr. and Mrs. Richard W. Sr. Marilyn Marx, SNJM ‘53 Former Member, Board of Trustees
My support for AHN is a result of my involvement in this school as an alumna, as a Sister of the Holy Names, as a former director of the business office, and as a recent board member. The sisters who taught me at the Academy impacted my life by their example as caring religious and competent educators. Because of the solid education I received as a student at AHN, I was prepared to further my academic background to serve as a teacher, a principal, director of the school finance office, and then I was able to take these same skills with me for an eighteen-year ministry in Alaska.

Chair, Science Department
As a longtime member of the Academy of the Holy Names family, I have found that in the rapidly evolving field of science, donor gifts are of utmost importance. They allow us to bring the most up to date and sophisticated classroom and laboratory experiences to our students. Our graduates tell our department managers that they were leaders in their college classrooms, teaching others how to use modern instruments and leading their lab groups in performing and understanding the lab experiments. Thank you for allowing us to provide such enriching experiences to our girls over the years. Your gifts help to lead us into a bright future as we continue to enhance our science program.

Your contribution to the Capital Campaign is an investment in our students, as we build an educational environment that inspires excellence and ignites an exciting future.
The North Classroom Wing Its reconstruction provides an opportunity for envisioning it in 21st century terms. Larger "classrooms" become smaller "learning studios," seminar rooms, gathering areas, project work areas, or presentation areas, providing flexibility for a wide range of learning activities and group sizes.
Safety Improvements to the Main Entry and Building Facade This will provide uninterrupted sightlines to the parking lot and circular drive, giving better control over visitor entry. A covered, glass-enclosed entry corridor replacing the breezeway will afford students the use of an enclosed courtyard during the school day, protected from street view. Resurfacing the building faรงade and landscaping entry paths will create an attractive atmosphere to welcome those beginning their journey on campus.

We live in challenging times that require a new vision for education at Academy of the Holy Names. Total Campaign Goal This vision puts an active learner in an interactive, resource-rich learning environment. She will be presented with an authentic problem to solve, and she will learn to ask the questions that will empower her to discover one or many workable solutions. To bring to life this dream of a new model for education that will provide its students with an outstanding, future-focused educational experience, AHN needs the resources and the facilities to make it real. Invest. Inspire. Ignite. marks the path to success. Your contribution to this effort is vital.
