Transforming SIXTH – TWELFTH GRADE

At Holy Names, students embark on a transformative journey that delivers an exceptional academic experience while cultivating self-confidence, independence, character, and leadership. Through our commitment to the full development of the human person, we help each student identify her unique voice, and give her the confidence she needs to help build a better world.

OUR MI SSI ON

Transforming young women from intuitive learners to innovative thinkers, empowering generations of courageous, faith-filled women to be skillful builders of a better world.

We start with teachers who love to teach and mentor. They understand the value of fostering a community of faith and respect. In addition, we see that real partnerships are formed with parents, so together we can build strong foundations and lasting relationships. In this environment, young women are empowered to become who they truly hope to be.

“As a teacher at Holy Names, I have the opportunity to let every girl shine in her own way. Each one is encouraged to find and use her own voice, and this is a transforming factor in the quality of her education at Holy Names.”

Kelly Leonard HIGH SCHOOL ENGLISH TEACHER

Academics Our teachers are given the freedom and time to develop true insight into each and every one of their students. They are skilled at identifying individual and group teaching techniques that encourage and inspire lively discussions and the respectful exchange of ideas. At Holy Names, every girl has a voice. And every girl is inspired to achieve and realize her fullest potential in the classroom.

Middle School Academics Middle school is that moment in an adolescent’s life when she begins to walk her own path and be open to growth in self-confidence, empathy, and courage. We recognize the developmental uniqueness of this time by providing a safe school environment, student-initiated learning, student roles in decisionmaking, and strong adult role models. Our middle school staff includes a counselor, with special expertise in the unique needs of adolescent girls. In addition, with our one-on-one adviser program, each student has a faculty member as her own advocate. This same adviser is also someone families can contact with questions or concerns. The special commitment we have made to our middle school students is also reflected in how we give them the ability to take high school courses

“Since coming to Holy Names, I expect more out of myself because my teachers really care about me. I get lots of opportunities to try new things and activities. It’s easy to make friends here.”

and participate in high school sports and activities.

The ability to live life as a whole person, genuine and authentic, without artifice or pretense, is the true gift I received from my Holy Names education, one that has freed me to make choices that weren’t always obvious or popular, but where I was trusted enough by my community to keep my head on straight and do my best to be of service. I feel grateful for that gift at this current stage in life, now more than ever.
