Introduction

If
you
like
rain,
England
is
the
place
for
you.
England
is
in
Europe.
Whales,
Scotland
 and
England
make
up
Great
Brittan.
Do
you
like
Religion,
Famous
stuff,
whether,
 traditional
food,
team
sports
or
activities?
You
will
learn
the
English
stuff
in
this
 book.
Well
if
you
do,
England
is
the
place
for
you.
Be
prepared,
it’ll
shine
for
a
bit,
 but
ten
minutes
later
it
will
rain.

This
Place
Is
Amazing

 Do
you
like
Dover?
Well,
it’s
a
city
in
England.
We’re
going
to
talk
about
the
White
 Cliffs
of
Dover.
The
Cliffs
of
Dover
are
huge
cliffs,
about
five
times
a
full‐grown
man!
 Do
you
know
why
they
stay
so
white?
Well,
it’s
erosion,
every
year
five
meters
are
 lost
to
erosion.
A
city
had
to
be
moved
back
into
the
countryside
because
of
erosion!
 Now
you
know
about
the
White
cliffs
of
Dover.

 Ding,
Dong,
“Did
you
hear
that?
That
was
Big
Ben.
Big
Ben
is
in
 London
by
the
River
Thames.
Big
Ben
is
one
of
the
tallest
clock
 buildings
ever
and
it
isn’t
just
a
huge
square
clock
building,
it
 also
has
a
two
story
hall.
The
clock
might
be
as
tall
as
fifty
full‐ grown
men!
The
hall
might
be
as
tall
as
five
10‐year‐old
children
 and
as
if
it
was
lying
on
its
side
it
would
be
as
tall
as
seven
10‐ year‐old
children.
Clocktastic,
isn’t
it?

 “Wow,
I
didn’t
know
that
London
had
an
eye.”
 London
has
a
giant
Ferris
wheel.
I
know
it
sounds
weird,
but
 that’s
why
they
call
it
The
London
Eye.
 The
London
Eye
is
famous
for
it’s
view
and
the
carriages
are
totally
transparent
 except
for
the
floor,
the
roof
and
poles
that
mark
the
corners.
 “Thanks
for
telling
me
about
The
London
Eye,
I
love
it.”

Let’s
go
outside!

“Tk”,
did
you
hear
that?
That
was
someone
that
just
won
a
game
of
crockey.

Crockey
 is
a
game
ware
you
put
up
eleven
to
seven
goals
that
are
two
inches
high
and
one
 inch
wide.
You
pick
a
ball
and
you
try
hit
it
through
all
of
the
goals
with
a
bat
that
is
 wooden
and
has
a
meter
long
handle
Once
you
hit
your
ball
through
all
of
the
goals
 you
have
to
hit
a
I
long,
thick,
rounded
pin.
The
first
person
to
hit
the
pin
or
pole
 wins.
“Tk”
hey
did
you
just
win?
I
knew
you’d
like
it.”

 Do
you
like
rock‐climbing?
If
you
like
to
you
like
to
rock‐climb
you
will
learn
good
 places
to
rock‐climb
in
England.
When
you
rock‐climb
you
need
equipment.
This
 equipment
includes
a
harness,
a
buddy
and
a
friend.
A
friend
is
a
three
dimensional
 oval
that
you
can
open
up
on
one
side
with
a
lock
so
that
you
can
close
the
opening.
 They
are
about
three
inches
high
and
one
centimeter
wide.
You
can
rock‐climb
in
 the
Lake
District.
I’ll
meet
you
at
the
championship
when
you’re
a
pro
at
rock‐climb.

 “Shhhhhhh”
Did
you
here
that?
That
was
a
surfing
wave
coming
into
the
beach.

 Surfing
is
a
well‐known
activity
and
very
fun.
Only
boards
with
three
fins
can
move
 along
a
wave
but
boards
with
one
fin
can
move
with
the
wave.
In
England
the
water
 is
very
cold
so
you
need
a
wetsuit
to
surf.
In
Hawaii
people
surf
in
board
shorts

 Hawaii
is
also
famous
for
surfing.“
You
made
it
into
the
finals?
Cool!”

Sports,
Sports
and
more
Sports,

Do
you
know
Cricket?
Well,
I’ll
tell
you
about
it.
Cricket
is
a
sport
like
baseball
 except
there
are
two
batters,
two
bases
and
outfielders.
The
bat
is
 flat
one
on
side
and
rounded
one
the
other.
One
batter
is
on
one
 base
and
the
other
is
on
the
other
base.
The
batter
on
the
batters
 base
bats.
If
the
batter
hits
the
ball
the
batters
will
run
to
the
other
 base.
If
the
batter
gets
to
the
other
base,
his
team
gets
a
point,
but
if
 the
ball
hits
the
batter
the
other
team
gets
a
point.
The
teams
switch
 places,
from
pitching
to
bating,
by
the
pitcher
pitches
the
ball
and
the
ball
knocks
 down
the
pins
behind
the
batter.

Rain,
Rain,
go
away

 If
you
like
rain,
England
is
the
place
for
you.
In
England
it
will
rain
every
hour
or
so.
 The
good
thing
about
that
is
that
it
makes
England
a
very
green
country,
but
the
bad
 thing
is
that
you
can
never
go
outside.
There
are
nearly
all
of
the
types
of
flowers
in

England.
The
rain
makes
a
lot
of
the
sea
higher.
It
would
be
a
great
place
for
peace
 day.
