I am passionate about deeply understanding the environments and cultures encapsulating my designs. I be lieve we have a responsibility to design in response to surroundings, to design to help change people and not the planet. As a designer, I seek to create innovative spaces, that support sustainable ethics and are unique to users’ needs. Motivated by human connection I have an internal spark for community design and enjoy designing spaces that encourage human connection to themselves, each other, and their surrounding environment.

Preliminary

3.Building.Vertical

Greening Vertical climbing plants have been incorporated into the facade cutouts to contextually connect the building to the adjacent Carlton Gardens, whilst also providing shading to the western elevation.

2. Facade Cutouts Vision glass cutouts follow select gridlines, creating recessed blocks that step up the western and southern face. These break down the mass and enhance visual connections between the streetscape, the CBD, the Carlton Gardens and the Royal Exhibition

1. TheMassingmassing of the new building is determined by a like for like approach with the existing Aikenhead Wing; the 30 x 50m footprint is extruded up 11 levels plus roof top to plant as a rectilinear mass. The building acts as a scale transition from the CBD to the SVHM campus.

6. Facade Articulation

4. Lecture Theatre + Western Lift

The lecture theatre has been inserted as a block of interference, cantilevered and horizontally juxtaposed to the more dominant vertical mass. The cantilever is unoccupied and is designed to frame views out to the Carlton Gardens, whilst also signposting the western entry and providing an entry canopy.

5. AnAtriuminternal atrium mimics the cutout on the western facade, framing vertical circulation. This space provides a dynamic spine for physical and visual connection between levels.

Aida Abbasi +61 450 940 950

Select glass facade panels on the west and south elevations are articulated, subtly resembling a crystalline form. This abstraction is reflective of the research and learning being undertaken within the building.

The Court staff and Magistrates’ workplace floors are located on 6 floors of the building between levels 5 to 10. It is entirely inaccessible from public circulation save for the Register Counter on Level 05 that serves as the front front-facing interface for the public. This workspace takes advantage of being spread vertically over several narrow floorplates along the south facade by affording amenity in terms of abundant soft natural lighting and visual outlook to all staff. An open stair linking all levels facilitates vertical circulation within the workspace, whilst shared formal and informal meeting spaces and amenities dispersed throughout the level encourages movement within the workspace to counter compartmentalization and encourage collaboration and communication.

– A new Narre Warren Station will be built in a similar location to the existing, which is east of the level crossing, together with new platforms constructed beside the elevated rail.

The design strategy is a rail-over solution established from a range of feasibility studies undertaken during the Preliminary Develop ment Work stage.

– Station functions will be contained within new buildings at ground level with vertical transport connecting to the elevated side platforms.

Aida Abbasi +61 450 940 950

– The level crossing at Webb Street will be removed by raising the rail onto an elevated structure above the existing road.

Lastly, I joined the Sydney Harbour Tunnel team couple of months ago, and have been working on Admin, concept design, interior layout, and visualization.

The first two projects were competitions for South Geelong and Marshal Stations. I was part of the R&D team in the early stages of the project. Similar to previous projects, I was responsible for modeling buildings in Revit, working on different packages like GA plans, Stair packages, interior design, visualization, design reports, and participating in various consultant workshops.

Inevitably, memorials trigger controversy, but this is what is exciting about them. They stimulate public debate and activate the public sphere. This project is a place for events. A park that aims to revoke numerous excitements by triggering memories and unique qualities. This project is a proposal to draw attention to mental health and its importance of it in our lives, something that we normally forget about as we sink into our daily lives. This building commemorates numerous people’s daily battles. This project is located in Birrarung Marr, on the Yarra River’s north bank next to Federation Square, an indigenous land that is already gathering people together and numerous tragic events embedded. Where the Kulin nation celebrates their ceremonies, and their history and tells us magical stories.

So this project is not one big building but is actually a conglomerate of five various buildings and the journeys hidden in it, which all have been gathered under a canopy, or what I like to call the acknowledgment blanket. An open space where ceremonies, exhibitions, or any unplanned activities can occur. The architectural conse quence of operating under the theme of the acknowledgment blanket l is that exchanges and thresholds where stories not only can be created but also can be heard and shared. The same way this land is educating us.

This is one of the beginning points of engaging with the land. Where the adventure of exploration commences. What people forget when they go through a hard time is the journey they’re taking. This project is creating involvement to test people’s reactions to what they face as they enter peculiar spaces that are designed to stimulate the state of consciousness, dreams, reminisce feelings, and awaken sealed emotions. As anyone enters this space, they have to adapt to what they face. By bending as they pass through a specific part, or stopping by and reading the stories of people written on the floor or the walls. These elements engage people with what they have to offer, with the soothing sound of the wind as it flows down the walls. All these elements leave a trace of thoughts in the unconscious minds.

A shared experience by experiencing something in a mass, side to side, shoulder to shoulder with people, rather than being an individual experience. This is where people can find a space to enjoy being in it individually, and can also decide to share it with others. They can meditate or engage in performance. Like a country that gathers various people with different backgrounds and experiences to build a better society.

The idea behind this space is to draw attention to what we achieve by demolishing a Wespace.crush down memories to build another one, but what we should do is to celebrate the existence of forgotten moments in our lives.

The focus in creating this space was creating a welcoming atmosphere underneath a table with a white blanket on top. Like a tent, we used to build as a child. It’s a safe and secure space. This space attempts to take us back to childhood memories where nothing was important. The curtains are hindering visitors’ vision as they are observing it from outside. They’re inviting people to come and explore.

This is what’s happening underneath that safety blanket. There are levels of galleries to dive in joy. There are lots of feelings to share and observe with others. The transparency of the curtains enables people inside and outside to communicate with each other, which leads to creating a connection. The idea of being underneath a giant table with a blanket on top is where precious memories can be evoked and create a moment of connection.

This is what’s happening underneath that safety blanket. There are levels of galleries to dive in joy.

The buildings are where other galleries and restaurants are located; It’s accessible from the lower level and the green canopy on level1. This is where the first idea for this project-shaped- curtains, mysteryrugs - faces, and stories - each of these shapes have a story written on them.

The story of ordinary people who we don’t see or feel. These spaces are where the design focus was on narrative. Each of them is one of the installations inside the galleries which are contrib uting to experimental events.

The theater is located at the closest location to the river to emphasize the connection of people to the land. Numerous plays will occur here, and when the time comes it vanishes in na ture and becomes part of a new story.

This design has three main concepts.

Tanderrum : An aboriginal ceremony that celebrates the culture. Where people dance, learn, sing, and Southernlearn.

Mandy Nicholson an aboriginal lady told us there are 6 layers of country. The country is not physically a thing. It is my body and spirit. The 1st layer is the area below the country where nutrients are. It’s like a mother. It nourish es us

Then there’s the country where we physically walk, do ceremonies. Then wind country. It touches everything that comes out of the body. like language. Then sky and forest country where flying creatures are, the spirits. They are reflected on the ground layer And water country where welcoming ceremonies happen. If you take one layer out of the community, it collapses.

NICC is a symbol of union. It’s a place that people learn from each other. They remember the importance of the connection to the land, to nature.

Aboriginals were very close to nature. They had a great bond with it. They lived on it but didn’t own it. It wasn’t their property. That’s why NIIC has a big gathering space. This place is called Wominjeka hub. It’s a knowledge hub where welcoming, tand eruum, healing ceremonies happen. Where people dance and celebrate. It has a significant potential to bring everyone together even after working hours. All other spaces face this space, at night; people can sit there and watch the stars.

The natural broken form into pieces of landscape, holds a canopy on my building and holds everything together. As you can see, spaces merge with nature, rising out of the land, not losing their bond to nature, also inviting people to come to visit and observe.

Speaking of stars, I looked at the story of “Djulpan”, the real name of the Southern Cross. It has 5 stars nowadays due to light pollution in big cities; one of them has vanished. In a decade, another one will vanish. So, rather than a southern cross, it will become a southern triangle, but it is not going to stop leading us to how to navigate people now. I took these triangle shapes to divide my spaces. To bring and welcome people to my building. As 6 layers of country work together, the spaces in this building do the same. There are three levels. The ones on the ground level work together. Representing the country, wind and sky country.

We always have to remember that the country is not a physical thing. It’s my body and spirit. The river is like a blood system, like a life source. My drawings follow the natural shape of the river. It’s telling a story, a story about us, our identity, our history, or nature. What we have forgotten. It’s about letting your spirit fly. Firstly, it represents how people are lost in the hustle and bustle of the city; as it goes through the city, it starts to vanish and people tend to go to nature. As much as they get involved in this journey, their bodies start to change. It gets more color and becomes more alive. By merging with nature, a human becomes part of nature and lets its spirit fly as Brolga. A human goes back to her/his nature, and Brolga gets back to the wetlands, to Harpley. Brolga returns home.

By the look of “The Church of The Light” by Tadao Ando, e can not tell it is really a Church from outside. It is totally opposite to the “Traditional Christian Church” by the size and decoration of ornament. There is nothing like that in this project. However, the uniqueness of this project is simplicity, a tiny rectangle building with a size around 113 m2 constructed by reinforced concrete somehow can present itself as a Church by the “Crosses Void” on the east wall. This “Crosses Void” not only represents a symbol of religion but also functional which allows light and air to penetrate through the building. These design ideas of Ando’s have reflected into nature itself, the use of natural light to create shadow and a thick concrete wall giving value to the empty space inside the building. Creating the pure form of space that only light can see and a place for a spirit itself.

of Tehran by building a lake will make the residential parts of Oudlajan become more at tractive and more likely to live due to the new atmosphere, view of the lake, not being crowded all the time and being safer for its people.
