With Jordans and Nikes flooding the market with high prices and cheap materials, brands like Asics, Saucony, and New Balance have put an emphasis on the quality of their sneak-ers, creating a new group of niche followers. Although brands like Nike and Adidas will continue to be powerhouses in the industry, consumers should take a step back and exam-ine if they are really getting the most bang for their buck. This involves getting out of your comfort zone and giving other brands a

shot! If you are in the market for a new pair of everyday sneakers, New Balance should be at the top of that list. Founded in 1906 by William J. Riley, the brand has flour-ished into a multi-dimensional company that still sticks to its roots. They began production in the United States (where approximately 25% are still manufac-tured), and in 1982 expanded overseas to produce in the United Kingdom.
Often seen as a brand your dad might support, New Balance has gained new traction in the sneaker industry. Design-ing shoes that are considered to be at the leading edge of quality and comfort, New Balance continues to provide customers with a fantastic product. Following the footsteps of other major sneaker brands, New Balance has collaborated with the likes of BAIT and G.I. Joe, J.Crew, Ronnie Fieg, and CNCPTS. If that still wasn’t enough, New Balance releases lots of their sneakers in themed packs. Some of the most famous are based off their made in England line, with the most recent being the “Real Ale” pack. With their savvy marketing and focus on quality craftsmanship, New Balance’s world-wide reputation is only continuing to grow.

UK Lifestyle Brands You Should Know
20 Lately we have seen the emergence of brands that represent something more than just fashion but the lifestyle lived by a certain type of person. These brands keeping in touch with this way of life design products that easily reflect their mindset that shares a bond with their customers.
With a focus on comfort and durability founder Tom Kay says the goal was to create products that could stand up to any environment and last “One of the things I’m most proud of is seeing the places our products go and hearing the stories that go with them. I guess if it works in the harshest environments, we can be pretty confident it will hold its own anywhere and for a long time.”
Finisterre is brand founded by Tom Kay, a guy with a passion for cold water surfing. Growing up in coastal United Kingdom has driven him to create products for likeminded individuals who want to stay warm enough to perform in some of the beautiful surf that region offers. Not always recognized for it’s surf the rigid coastlines of England and the United Kingdom have some amazing surf and sceneries to offer. Built around this idea of braving the cold outdoors and striving in harsh conditions Finisterre has created an amazing line of clothing that offers organic fibers as well as wool lined denim, merino wool base layers, as well as recently dipping into the wetsuit market.

BAM BI Commonly referred to a s “The Female Banksy,” Bambi is a mysterious street artist whose work is plastered along the walls of Northern London. Starting off her career with simple stencils and avoiding the police, Bambi has now reached world renowned level that is drawing in celebrities of the likes of Kanye West to commission work. Bambi creates edgy work that runs between the lines of pop and street art. Her style incorporates loud images and bursts of color that draw in the eyes of everyday passerbyers. One of her most famous works, a por trait of Camden, allows
“What we found out is beguilding. Bambi drives an Aston Martin (she love all things Bond), wears designer clothes (Vivienne Westwood and Agent Provocateur) and has a penchant for Paul A Young hand made chocolaltes. She is a karate black belt who swims every morning and runs at weekends. She will not reveal her age - although sources suggest she is in her early 30s.”
25
“I let my work speak for itself. But dreams can inspire me and I am particularly interested in people who spread love and joy...”
As she continues her quest to spread love and joy, her popularity grew and led her to her first exhibition as Walton Fine Art Gallery in London. With her show behind her, Bambi established crediblity amongst the urban art scene in London and from the looks of it, doesn’t plan on slowing down anytime soon. Adding to her story, the identity of Bambi is still unknown. Clues emerged but there is still a lack of confirmation. Speculation amongst followers lead us to believe she could be the likes of Paloma Faith or even M.I.A due to her history and admission to a strong music career.

ADDRESS: 151 Curtain Road, London EC2A 3QE, OPENING TIMES: Mon - Sat: 10.00am-6.00pm More of an experience than a retail location, East London’s Goodhood offers its customers a diverse and sophisticated selection of goods. Ranging from men’s and womens wear to its in house brand, The Life Store, Goodhood has created a large cultural following. Recently moving into their new location on Curtain Road, they expanded not only in square feet but also in character. The store shows its charm and attention to detail through the embedded lettering in the street outside and the reinstat ed lightbox in the menswear sec tion. They also took this new loca tion as an opportunity to dive into culinary culture, incorporating the Commune Café. Co-founder Kyle Stewart did not hold back when designing his new London location.
“...bigger retailers that don’t have the knowledge or the intuitive feel that we have will jump straight into trends and it’s not credible, whereas we’re always trying to come from a credible position.”
“We’re looking for something that has got a connection to culture, something that communicates about the legacy of clothing. We don’t like to talk about fashion, we always talk about clothing, which we see as fundamen tally different. So things that are really good quality, for instance, things that are progressive in their design and fabrication but also retrospective in their knowl edge about clothing. It takes a lot of knowledge to make the perfect jacket and so we’re looking for brands that understand about things like stitch tension and fabrication and use that information to make product.”
“I mean we just look for something that’s cool as fuck. That’s a five word answer for you!” - Co-founder Kyle Stewart

WHAT’S MOVING FASTER?
32
Luxury fashion brands and automobile companies have had an extensive and wealthy relationship over the years. From big name collaboration between Bugatti and Hermes, to simply influencing trends and using similar marketing tactics, these two industries have learned to coincide and benefit one another. Fashion and technology are moving at an exponential rate, making trend forecasting a top priority for all designers. This pace is forcing them to dig into categories like social and econom-ic influences allowing designers to innovate for a future society. The fashion and automobile indus-tries have always fallen hand in hand, pushing each other’s limits and creating a true luxury commu-nity. With that said, here are five British cars to look for in the coming months.
33
MCLAREN P1
Lotus has been struggling in the luxury car market, but with recent changes in the company, they present their comeback with the Evora 400. A supercharged V6 generates 400-hp getting you from 0-60 in about 4 seconds. Although not at the top in terms of numbers, this small and agile car is designed purely for driving. With its light and simple shape, the new Evora 400 provides customers with a more powerful and elegant ride.
LAND ROVER EVOQUE CONVERTIBLE Claiming to be the first premium compact convertible SUV, the Range Rover Evoque is looking to tap into a new market. Similar to many companies, they put forth most of their effort in technical innovation. Creat-ing a car that can drop its roof at 30mph while cruising through rugged terrain while maintaining a unique and amicable design is no small feat. The Evoque is a go-anywhere luxury coupe with the ability to pick up some rays.
“Land Rover is either well ahead of the curve or set to be laughed out of court.

Advertised as the most advanced Jaguar ever created, the C-X75 is at the forefront of technological innovation in super cars. This vehicle was designed to be fast and efficient. With a light carbon fiber design, the C-X75 is able to do 0-60 in under 3 seconds while maintaining emission levels at a fraction of its competitors. Although only a concept car, aspects of this machine will fall down the ladder into Jaguar’s future lineup. Specifically its great aerodynamics and low emission rates, especially as we move into a greener society.
JAGUAR C-X75 ASTON MARTIN DB11 “This is an Aston Martin, Gin.You don’t run over dead bodies in an Aston Matin.”
“Tell that to James Bond”
36
Aston Martin’s relaunch into the luxury sports car market is going to be spearheaded by the DB11. With Andy Palmer now at the helm, the company seeks to replace all of its core sports cars within the next few years. The DB11 is expected to release in 2016 boasting a powerful V12 engine. In typical Aston Martin fashion, the company created sleak classy design that is sure to stand the test of time.
37
MCLAREN P1
“It’s as though we stuck a tube inside and sucked all the air out – a dra-matic, honest shape, but also a very beautiful one” Little needs to be said about what some call the superhero amongst supercars. With an absolutely gorgeous aerodynamic shape, the P1 generates over 900-hp through its twin-turbo V8 and lithium-ion powered electric motor. This is not a car to be taken lightly, especially when it can get you from 0-60 in a mere 2.7 seconds.

DAY 1
WEEKEND WARRIOR Here are some of London’s coolest sights, shopping, restaurants, and nightlife wrapped into one comprehensive 3-day guide just for you.
Wake up at the London EDITION in Soho, a grand five-star hotel that blends contemporary design with the historic character of its building. Soho is located at the heart of the city and is a hip, vibrant and bustling hub of culture as well as the home of one of the most famous shopping areas in London. Carnaby Street is great for independent stores and boutiques across streetwear, menswear and footwear. This area features over 150 brands, like Adidas, along with an intriguing mix of restaurants, bars, cafes and English pubs. Step under the iconic arch and you’ll find a unique mix of independent boutiques, heritage brands, and new designer names to discover. Don’t forget to stop at a few of London’s most notable landmarks, Trafalgar Square and Piccadilly Circus, as you make your way to one of Europe’s busiest shopping intersections at Oxford Street and Regent Street. Worldfamous for its more 300 shops, designer outlets and landmark stores, including the legendary Selfridges, Oxford Street is a major hub for youth culture and retail therapy while Regent Street offers a good range of mid-priced fashion stores among some big names like Burberry and The Apple Store.
51
If you’re looking for the truly authentic British experience, historic Jermyn Street is loaded with men’s clothing shops and is so typically British it’s enough to bring out the old-fashioned gent in anyone. If you’ve got money to burn or just like to dream, Bond Street and Mayfair should definitely be on your hit list. Home to top luxury stores like Louis Vuitton, Acne Studios and Christopher Kane; this is London’s most exclusive shopping area. For lunch check out Barrafina, a cozy yet modern and authentic Spanish tapas bar on Firth Street. If you’re not so much into shopping head west to Knightsbridge where you will find the free Saatchi Gallery and the Victoria and Albert Museum. The V&A is one of London’s greatest collections of art and design with exhibits featuring fashion, furniture, metalwork, photography and more. This area isn’t lacking any retail, though, and is best known for its large department stores Harrods and Harvey Nichols. Slightly west of Knightsbridge, history and fashion merge together at King’s Road, a well-known shopping street once known as the center of London’s counterculture movement and the birthplace of punk: the Vivienne Westwood store. Before turning in for the night, make sure you grab a drink at Cahoots. This speakeasy bar was once an old Tube station but is now a watering hole for Soho locals and visitors alike who wish to immerse themselves in 1940s-era London glamour and swing.
52
DAY 2 If you’re feeling a bit adventurous today catch the Tube east away from the popular tourist spots to one of London’s most happening neighborhoods. With cutting-edge shops, galleries and cafes, Shoreditch is ideal for those who are fresh, artsy and just plain unique. Choose from over 120 types of cereal and more than 30 varieties of milk at the Cereal Killer Café on Brick Lane for a seriously fun, unique and nostalgic breakfast experience. Before you leave the area don’t forget to stop by some of the specialty stores; Sneakersnstuff carries everything you could ever need in footwear from rare styles to classic favorites. Back west, one of London’s most popular and most spectacular attractions sits on the south bank of the river Thames. The London Eye (also known as the Millennium Wheel) is one of the world’s largest observation wheels and shows you all of the city’s key sights in 30 minutes from one of its 32 capsules, equipped with a touch screen guide so you know what you’re looking at. On a clear day you can see as far as 25 miles away from the very top. If you would rather see the Eye all lit up hold off until the sun goes down and make a detour to Shakespeare’s Globe, the replica of the original Elizabethan theatre showing Shakespeare plays in the open air. Check ahead of time to find out if your favorite play is currently showing or simply buy a ticket for only five euros and be pleasantly surprised.
53
If you need a quick bite to eat before heading out, RSJ has earned itself a loyal following of local theatre-goers who would rather dine away from the glitz and glamour of the riverside. Simple yet elegant with a warm interior, RSJ has been serving up a menu of French and British classic comfort foods for over three decades now. Also located on the Southbank is London’s most notable museums for contemporary art: the Tate Modern. Tate holds the national collection of British art from 1900 to the present day and international modern and contemporary art including photographs of global street style, paintings and mixed-media work. Another Southbank classic must-see is Tower Bridge, featuring newly glass-lined walkways allowing visitors to look about 45 meters down at the traffic below. Heights might not be your thing, but the views of the river Thames from the walkway is unlike any other view in the entire city. If you end up back on the north side of the river don’t worry, the Tower of London is just a short bus or Tube ride away. Explore the royal history of the city and feast your eyes on the awe-inspiring collection of Crown Jewels the tower houses. If you’re still feeling like Prince Harry Jr. after the tour, head back towards Soho and hit up Bubbledogs for the royal treatment…kind of. You can sink your teeth into some gourmet hot dogs and quench your thirst with some of the world’s finest bubbly all night at this champagne bar; just don’t go looking for any caviar.
54
DAY 3 After a full day of breaking the bank and a second day of travelling, you probably want to hang out and enjoy your last day soaking up all the last minute sightseeing you can. Head over to Buckingham Palace in the morning and watch the changing of the guard and catch some amazing views of the city that you won’t find anywhere else. The Hour Glass is the perfect pub for lunch; make sure to try some traditional British fish-n-chips before you head home. If you want to try something quirky Madame Tussauds has your favorite celebrities forever encapsulated as funky wax figures. History buffs should take their pick of the many other great museums and historical landmarks in the city: The British Museum, St. Paul’s Cathedral and Westminster Abbey. Before you leave grab a pint at one of London’s famous pubs. Charles Dickens fans will appreciate stopping by The George Inn or try the Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese for a truly authetic British experience.
