A IESEC Hanoi, It is a big challenge for us, the Executive Board 1415, to create the sense of mutual direction and understanding for a local chapter which includes more than 130 members. That is the reason why this newsletter is created to provide an effective internal communication channel engaging people from different teams and functions to our mission of developing youth leadership. Besides, we all know that Executive Board experience is an iceberg. The latest survey about leadership pipeline checking showed that most of members concerned about the difficulties and challenges. Frustration & exhaustion are sometimes quite obvious. But the hidden parts are passion, strong will, stories and lessons.
Therefore, we do hope this newsletter will somehow become a bridge which closely connects LC members with us, the leader bodies. This experience is harsh but incredible, I have to say. Please say thanks to our LST OD also for making this happen. The first newsletter can hardly be perfect. But that is the reason why we are in AIESEC, to make mistakes then learn. OC CORNER Vietnam National University is a university with a lot of students. Students in VNU have a good background, good English communicating, so they are really potential for AIESEC's programs. This is a market targeted for exchange programs. Focusing on these resources is a strategy to gain more attendees, EPs for AIESEC Hanoi's projects and programs. Not only GCDP but also other supporting functions other supporting function such as ER will have more opportunities to work closely with VNU's partners. In addition, AIESEC Hanoi’s expansion to VNU will bring a greater result for AIESEC Hanoi, help LC Hanoi achieve more in GCDP and hence,

be a strong Local Chapter in AIESEC Vietnam. Therefore, there are many upcoming projects designed/dedicated to this targeted market. This is the first cross-functional OC in LC, which aims to roam and stir up the VNU market, by trying our best to promote and deliver GCDP deeper into VNU, in order to make even more VNU students acknowledge and take opportunities in GCDP, specifically Global Citizen and Global Passport. We are considered to be pioneers of AIESEC Hanoi to expand the market of LC to reach VNU, therefore support LC’s organizational development. A lot of applause for them!

Award Night
is an annual event help by AIESEC Hanoi. Its purpose is not only to appreciate Exchange Participants after their excellent internship abroad but also a chance for them to reflect the journey they have gone, the experience they have realized their own dream, how to make it come true. This year is the second time Award Night is held with the theme " shine bright like a diamond ". This theme was chosen with the message that each EP will find their hidden power after the internship. Therefore, they can develop themselves to the fullest, be confident to purchase their dream. That's when they become diamonds and shine bright.

I met Nick last summer in US. This man worked hardly to save 10.000 USD and travelled 12 countries in 12 months in his first year after graduation. “Spend a gap year or a couple of months to travel abroad can give you the confidence that no challenge can defeat you in life. Planning and saving money for such a long trip will surely push you out of your own limits which you can never imagine. For sure you have to face trade offs, lose opportunities and suffer the pressure from your family and friends. But the experiences you gained and the stories you have after such an extraordinary journey are priceless. It may not help to achieve some particular success immediately but it does shape your personalities and even your destiny” , Nick said. That was how his leadership journey started. When being asked about life purpose, he answered shortly “mountain”. He fell in love with mountains after one amazing year of world exploration and self-realization. In 2013, his community was in danger due to the intention of a company to start mining in the nearby area. He initiated a 70 miles marathon in continuous 20 hours to draw media attention and persuade people give their signatures against the exploitation plan. He started as a pioneer, then became a real social leader.
This story has strengthened my belief a lot in the impact we are creating via exchange experiences. You will never know how your efforts of sending thousand emails, creating hundreds Facebook posts, organizing various events, … can have such a big power of changing people lives. If there is a time you start questioning about AIESEC and its purpose, find a storyteller to be inspired.

MC Updates RECO IN HANOI REGION RECO is held by MC Vietnam, which happens every year and it has a major effect on out AIESEC leadership pipeline as it provides people with skills and knowledge. Moreover, it is a better way of understanding yourself. Everyone who comes to RECO often bring something back with them such as valuable experience, great lessons or maybe a new relationship status.

Global Youth Summit Global Youth Summit 2015, take place from 12 – 18, February 2015. An international initiative powered by AIESEC which is the most prestigious conference in the AIESEC network, where all the AIESEC country directors from 124 countries and territories get together and embrace youth leadership and talent development. AIESEC Vietnam is proud to be the host for this initiative in February 2015.
