VIII. VISA INTRODUCTION A visa - what is it all about? A visa is a form of permission for a non-citizen to travel to, enter, transit or remain in a particular country. A visa does not guarantee entry. That remains the right of the immigration officials of the country concerned. Visas may be stamped or glued directly into a passport for convenience, or they may be issued separately, in the form of documents which must be carefully protected to ensure that they are not lost or stolen. When looking at a visa, you should be able to tell what type of visa it is, how long the visa is good for, and whether or not multiple entries are permitted. Specific visa restrictions may also be written in, or indicated by the class of visa. For example, people with tourist visas are generally not permitted to work. If you aren't sure about the restrictions on a visa, be sure to ask immigration officials.

What is difference between visa and passport? A passport is issued by your government declaring you to be one of its citizens. The passport serves two purposes: to regain entry to the country of citizenship and is a requirement by many countries to gain entry to the country you are visiting. A visa is permission for you to enter a country and stay there until the visa expires. It's issued by the country you're going into. It's often stamped into your passport, or given to you as a document.

AIESEC FTU HCMC-EXCHANGE PARTICIPANT HANDBOOK 21 | P a g e

How many types of visas and number of entries? There are lots of types of visas: Tourist visa, business visa, employment visa, culture/sport visa, student visa‌..In every country, they have different visa systems. For example: In Poland, Schengen C-type visa is for a person who intend to stay in there for a total up to 90 days within a half- year period. And if you plan to stay in the territory of Poland for a total of more than 90 days (at least 91 days) during one or more visits within a half-year period calculated from the date of first entry, you need to apply for a national D-type visa. Number of entries: -

Single entry visa: the holder of single entry visa can only use this visa to enter the issuer country once time.

-

Double/ Multiple entries visa: the holder of the double/ multiple entries can enter the issuer country twice/ many times within the validity period of the year
