CEED PROFILE

Ethiopian coffee ceremony- A must attend

Established back in 2008, AIESEC Ethiopia has grown over the last 7 years into evidently becoming a promising entity in the AIESEC Global Network after being honored with the Global Excellence award for growth in IGCDP in 2011 and recently the Best Innovative entity in IGIP. With a start of the only Local Committee, it has evolved into harboring 6 Local Committees with 4 of them rooted in the Capital Addis Ababa and the other 2 found in the central and northern parts of the country. The country presents a demanding trend for external support in the area of Education and Youth Empowerment and this puts AIESEC up as a great haven to meet this demand. This assertion literally suggests the amount of strength the entity carries in harnessing any of the exchange programmes but more precisely in the area of IGCDP. With a revived direction of a “Hands-on-approach operations, we wish to extend invitation to committed and dedicated persons who are not only interested to develop themselves but to also support the sustainability and growth of the entity.

The Cultural Envoy Exchange Development program is an internal exchange program between two Entities within AIESEC. The program sends members from one LC in an Entity to work in an international LC for the purpose of best practice sharing, partnership development, member development, and cultural exchange. The program serves as an excellent way to give members an incredible international AIESEC experience while allowing the LC to develop partnerships with strategic countries.

Location LC Mekelle counts as one of the 6 LCs in the country and located in the Northern part of Ethiopia. Current Direction Owing to weak transition in the previous term, the LC began this year on a very rough note and primarily faces the challenge of low membership size, very weak organisational knowledge and very low experience on the part of the EB. As such, the direction for the first half of the term has been on strengthening and empowering EB and membership base while the second half would build on focusing on any feasible exchange programme. EB There is currently no strong EB team in the LC but have very committed members who have assumed the EB role comprising of an elect and four dedicated members. Challenges -Weak Member knowledge -Little or no experience on the part of EB

Opportunities -Very committed and motivated EB & members -Rich market for IGCDP & OGCDP

Organizational Understanding For any role you need to have a deep understanding of the purpose and context of the organization. A deep understanding of the AIESEC way and the way the functional areas work together towards achieving the same goal. Team management experience You have to show and prove your capacity to lead, coach and guide all these people towards our goal achievement and fulfilling the purpose of AIESEC in Ethiopia. Product understanding You need to be able to spot and evaluate our different stakeholders `needs in order to be able to choose the right market segments we should focus our operations on. You need to be able to develop new products and constantly improve the current ones. Previous Experience It is highly required to have had an LCEB experience or above.

After a successful event that rallied very potential partners, some level of sustainability in operations have been guaranteed. A lot of room is available for growth for this LC EB There is a good EB team in the LC but have very low commitment of members. Challenges -Weak Member knowledge -Weak commitment from members

Opportunities -Very committed and motivated EB & members -Rich market for IGCDP & OGCDP
