1. Definition The Global Expansions Committee is an independent body, responsible for coordinating the international expansion process of AIESEC, supporting the Global Plenary and all stakeholders interested in the sustainable growth of the organization. 2. Responsibilities Coordinate and constantly review AIESEC’s global expansion process, according to organizational trends, midterm ambition and needs; Support, track and coach (internal and external) expansions stakeholders; Provide accurate information and present periodic reports to the global plenary and AIESEC International on the evolution of expansion goals at each international legislation meeting; Guarantee synergy with the global subcommittees and supporting bodies; Track the organizational status evolution of expansion entities; Propose updates and improvements, regarding expansions and membership criteria, to the global compendium.

AIESEC is currently present in 128 countries and territories Out of those 128 entities, 21 are Expansion Initiatives, Contracted Units or Official Extensions
Additionally, there are 35 countries and territories in the prospective expansion list Excluding from this list the current expansion entities, there are still 24 potential markets to be opened within the next couple of years
Our entities number, considering only the current pipeline, is potentially 152 entities. 9 additional approaches in the last 6 months: Bangladesh, Guinea, Iraq, Israel, Kosovo, Kurdistan of Iraq, Libya, Palestine, Sudan

MSC & GEC (NOVEMBER VLM) To mandate the Membership Subcommittee and the Global Expansions Committee to clarify the rights and obligations of the CU’s, OE’s and EI’s status in the compendium; including the process to become full member entities; and present a proposal for the next Virtual Legislation Meeting. Follow up IPM 2015 To update the organizational status of all Official Extensions that have not fulfilled Full Membership criteria until IPM 2015 to “Contracted Unit”.

Justification: fulfill the procedures established on the Supporting Document “S_ Membership Application Process”; standardize the expansion network, push the pipeline of OEs to put organizational status evolution as focus and clarify rights and obligations of Expansion entities.

MSC & GEC (NOVEMBER VLM) To mandate Global Expansions Committee and Membership Subcommittee to present solutions for special cases (like opening different countries and territories as Specialized Unit, without having the plan of becoming Official Expansions) until IPM 2015.
Report After reviewing with the previous MSC Chair, Jimit Popat, that there is not possible to change the Membership Criteria until IPM, we’ll submit the mandate once again, with DDL until IC 2015.

NEW MANDATE
To mandate the Membership Subcommittee to review Entity partners and Expansion Entities criteria as part of the organizational status revision of each ILM. Justification: Entity partners and Expansion entities criteria exist for around 2 years now, but both have never been properly tracked.

NEW MOTION To approve the following changes in the support document “Q_Limited period motions and mandates”, according to the update proposed in the mandate XXX of November VLM: ◦ Topics 6 to 9 to be deleted, due to expiration of PREVIOUS motions and mandates duration. ◦ 6. EI of AIESEC to Bangladesh to be disbanded for not fulfilling all the criteria’s according to the agreements of IPM Mexico 2011. (IC 2011, Kenya) ◦ 7. According to the membership subcommittee analysis, if any interest exists to develop a new entity of EI of AIESEC to Bangladesh, it should happen minimum 3 years after the disbandment of EI of AIESEC to Bangladesh at IC Kenya 2011. (IC 2011, Kenya) ◦ 8. That the Official Extension of AIESEC to Zimbabwe be disbanded. (IPM 2012, Hungary) ◦ 9. That the Official Extension of AIESEC to Saudi Arabia be disbanded. (IPM 2012, Hungary)
