Lesson Methodology The lesson was planned with a methodology of “workshop”, encouraging exchange activities and interaction between the facilitators and the students. It promoted a learning process based on the dialogue and the active participation of the students. As part of the characteristics of a workshop there are three main elements: objective, defined activities and results. Considering this, we designed an holistic pedagogical framework that could support the delivery of the lesson successfully. Objective of the Workshop: Create awareness in the students of the schools about their role as global citizens by understanding the Global Goals as a way to contribute for a better local reality and encourage their civic competences.
The lesson aligned to Education Plan in Colombia In collaboration with the Ministry of Education in Colombia, we aligned the content with the National Plan of Education for Peace 2017, working towards strengthen the education sector to advance strategies that contribute to training in citizenship skills and education for peace. Considering the strategy Mobilization of the Training Plan for Citizenship included in the National Plan that seeks to engage various actors to participate in the construction of peace, we delivered World’s Largest Lesson talking about Sustainable Development Goals as a tool to create awareness in students about their active role as citizens of the world and as main actors to build the common good, and a peaceful and sustainable environment. Yaneth Giha, Minister of Education attended the opening of the day.

Main challenges & learnings Learnings
Challenges -
-
Only main facilitators were spanish speakers. Students are not bilingual, so, our facis had to find different ways to deliver the messages overcoming language barrier. Time to deliver the workshops in the farest schools was not enough. At least 1 hour is needed. Because of traffic jam in the city, some groups arrived to their venues later than expected.
-
Students were at the beginning shy to share their ideas or perceptions.
-
Lack of experience to manage students to constantly keep their attention from facilitators.
-
We realized that students in Cartagena want to learn about every topic we addressed. Also, that they are aware of their country issues and reality, but need guidance about how to contribute.
-
People can be educated about SDGs at a very young age. No need to wait for adulthood.
-
There is no such a “language barrier” if you want to deliver a relevant message.
-
For students to participate, facilitators need to speak and participate with them, lead by example. Also, “ice breaker” activities or dividing them into little groups are efficient strategies to deliver the workshop in a better way.
-
Include more time for transportation in the agenda and consider in the future follow up with teachers and school leaders.

Results: The positive impact We opened the world to students, we changed their mindset: “It has been really shocking. The 18 high school groups were very excited to meet these young volunteers from other countries around the world, visit us from so far and come to this corner of the city to speak directly, personally, about the Sustainable Development Goals. The Goals are a global priority that must not only be led by the government, the authorities, the big businessmen or the big companies that run the world. The population to which they are directed must know them, must manage them, acknowledge them. We hope that with this experience we can include the SDGs in our EIP –Educational Institutional Project–, and that we can include them in our curriculum.
AIESEC, with this lesson, is effectively demonstrating that another world is possible and that fraternity, friendship and good relations prevail in the human being and encourage our young people to know the world and travel. At Institución Educativa Luis Carlos López, we are very grateful, the 1420 families, for this experience that you have allowed us to live. Thank you so much for coming from so many countries and filling our students with dreams for their purposes. Count with the Luis Carlos López house for activities of purposes as nobles as this one”. Next Steps Global YouthSpeak Forum in Egypt
SDG Curriculum
Each year, during the AIESEC International Congress, the Global YouthSpeak Forum takes place in one full day of the agenda, offering a powerful space to co-create ideas and have conversations towards main global issues between global young leaders from more than 100 countries, businessmen and companies.
Delivering World’s Largest Lesson is just one step to continue activating youth to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.
For 2018, Egypt is the country hosting this event, so we are looking forward about how we can continue upscaling our Youth 4 Global Goals initiative within this edition of the Forum.
That’s why we launched the SDG Curriculum. A toolkit that aims to provide the understanding and needed knowledge regarding each one of the SDGs to further take part of measurable activities and/or projects to achieve the SDGs. By going to the activities and achieving their respective learning outcomes, youth will become key champions of the SDGs to tell everyone about the Goals.

Overview
"I feel that was me who received the lesson. I really liked the energy of children, young people and their opinions on issues that are serious, such as Sustainable Development Goals, but they see them with a different analysis. It enriches me to see gathered so many people of different cultures, but finally speaking the same language, each one had a proposal, an interest, a conviction and a purpose, and I am glad to know that the lesson was for me, that I am not alone thinking that if it is possible to transform the world. These teenagers and young people taught me that they want to transform the world too, in their own way, and I am very happy to see their steadiness to achieve it. I was pleased to know that every time the women who are in these groups, know their position in front of the society and like to be independent and want to help. I congratulate AIESEC for having very talented women, who, regardless of their age, are doing great things for society. I felt very happy and it is an invitation that I will never forget. For me the World's Largest Lesson is that we are not alone and every time the good people is more”. Belky Arizala Goodwill Ambassador of UNICEF Colombia.
