GLOBAL YOUTHSPEAK FORUM 2016, POLAND youthspeak.aiesec.org
CONCEPT Global Youth Speak Forum Poland | 2016 ABOUT Global Youth Speak Forum is an event organized by AIESEC, that takes place twice a year in multiple locations around the world, bringing together top young leaders together, business, civil society, experts and thought leaders and for a conversation around youth leadership and youth contribution to building a better world. The aim is to generate actionable ideas and initiatives to be taken forward to impact the world.
GLOBAL YOUTH SPEAK FORUM POLAND | 2016 Topic of the Global Youth Speak Forum that will take place on 16th-17th August 2016 in Ossa, Poland is Taking Humanity Forward: Youth Leadership for Impact. The Forum will build upon conversations, output and learnings of the previous Global YouthSpeak Forums and AIESEC Youth Action Summit. Global YouthSpeak Forum 2016 in Poland will cast a spotlight on youth and youth leadership. We live in a world where almost 50% of world’s population is under 25 years old, making youth generation today, the largest one in human history. Developing youth leaders today not only allows us to impact the world together, but unlocks the enormous potential for building a better future for all.
GLOBAL YOUTH SPEAK FORUM FRAMEWORK INSPIRE
Top business and thought leaders from around the world are invited to share their knowledge with the delegates about the chosen forum theme. This section of the day is delivered through short and powerful talks and aims to inspire delegates and help to form their opinions for the rest of the day.
ENGAGE
ACT
Our partner organizations engage with delegates to give new perspectives on issues relating to the forum theme through workshops, conversations and idea generation spaces. Youth and business are able to interact, exchange opinions and understand what is being done in the world already to address the question of the day.
The youth delegates take their learning and insights from the day into a space where they are able to cocreate ideas and solutions with their peers and experts in the room. The aim is to switch ideas into actions that can be taken forward, and have as a result commitments and projects that organizations and stakeholders can support.
“Just imagine what solutions might be found if young people are given the space and encouragement to participate and lead. -KOFI ANNAN
THEME Taking Humanity Forward:
Youth Leadership for Impact “We are making history. For the first time ever, in September 2015, 193 world leaders unanimously adopted the new global agenda for sustainable development in New York. In December 2015 in Paris, 195 world leaders adopted the first ever global, universal and legally binding climate change deal. In the past few months, we have seen the turmoil in the world and events that have shaken global landscape. Therefore AIESEC’s mission and vision of peace and fulfilment of humankind’s potential through youth leadership has never been more important. Currently, almost 50% of the world’s population is under 25 years old and today’s generation of youth is the largest one in history. Business, civil society, the government, media and youth must unite to ensure collaboration and investment in young people becoming key players today and top leaders of tomorrow who can utilise the enormous potential to build a better world. To ensure youth is ready, together we want to give them the opportunity to develop leadership skills and competencies, as well as knowledge about the world and the sustainable development agenda. With this, we want to empower them to take action and bring positive impact. Let’s take humanity forward through youth leadership for impact.” -NIELS CASZO, Global President AIESEC International 2016-2017
TOPICS Youth Leadership for Positive Impact
FOR YOUTH LEADERSHIP
POSITIVE IMPACT
Bridging the gap between leadership and positive impact, with a question: How can we develop leadership in youth for positive impact? The first topic is Youth Leadership - what skills, competencies and mindset young people need to develop in today’s world, in order to help them thrive and at the same time, give back to the world. We believe that if young people are given the opportunity to become the best possible versions ope themselves, they could not only make a better life for themselves, but the world. The second topic is Positive Impact, which in today’s context is closely linked to the Sustainable Development Goals. That is why we will focus on certain topics such as Quality Education, Climate Action, No Poverty, Clean Water, Reduced Inequalities and many others.
